Upper Body injury. I think he broke his hand during his fight in LA

Virtanen Horvat Gaud - Do it Green, at least 1 game if Ferland has to miss time

So russia ahl?
Yes sir Russian AHL. The best part for Podz is all 3 teams (MHL(junior),VHL & KHL) are within 30 minutes of each other. Podz is eligible to play on all 3, should give him lots of ice time, even if he isn't playing a lot with SKA in the KHL.
Would be like playing in Utica but training with the Canucks. I really don't see the down side for Podz, aside from lack of ice time with the KHL club

What league?
Looks like SKA-Neva VHL

Players left that may be shipped down, or out. Schaller, though I thought, IMO, he had a good Pre-Season, Leivo, Virtanen, Motte, Goldy, not a lot of forward spots left 2 or 3 of these guys have to go somewhere. I don't think any of them stood out to lock down a spot. On D if we go with 7 it'll be either Biega or Fantenburg, however Fantenburg will probably start on IR

Let's reverse this Alf, would you take an oft injured veteran defence man, and Brett Connolly for Quinn Hughes?
So your saying Risto is Quinn Hughes good

So we get to see a potential Horvat line, and then 3 lines auditioning for the 4th line.
Gotta love pre-season!
I would say more like Canucks first and forth lines and Utica'f first and second lines lol

Hahaha, he wont accept, he still thinks he should be making 3-4 mil a season... Probably why he is still unsigned. Someone may pick him up, but at this point I doubt he comes back to the Canucks

I try to not watch Canucks previews on NHL.com, they’re usually pretty clueless.
So basically in the video they say that the team hasn’t bottomed out enough over the years for a rebuild (despite picking top 10 four years in a row) Also despite having back to back Calder nominees (1 winner) and a potential 3rd in a row nominee in Hughes, we still need to draft high apparently.
Yet they mention New York as a team that’s doing it right despite the fact that they only picked top 5 once before going out and breaking the bank to become a playoff team. This is where the bias is obvious against the Canucks. They praise the Rangers who have rushed their rebuild way more than we have.
Their seems to still be this belief that if you just keep stockpiling top 5 picks that a team will automatically pull itself out of the gutter, which has proven to be false.
How about they analyze the Leafs who have 3 top 5 picks, went out and spent a bunch and are still not real contenders. Maybe they should have bottomed out a couple more years? Or maybe the veterans you add to your young core actually do matter, and that’s the real path to building a contender?
It's quite funny how biased the east coast media is. New York Rangers can do no wrong, but the Canucks are just a mess with a GM that has no clue... LOL

I'm shocked.
I thought you were in favor of having BB sign for 4yr x 7M cuz he "deserves" it and is a 30g goal scorer if he didn't have those injuries.
You must have me mistaken for someone else. I never said he deserved 4 @ 7M, just that I would be willing to sign that deal. Never said anything about him being a 30 goal guy or comment on his injuries. I just said I think 4 @ 7M is fair for both sides, we then make a decision about his future after as he will still be an RFA. I would prefer a lower number dollar wise, just think the 4 year term is perfect

I'll feel just fine either way. I just don't think 4yr x 7M is the deal to make.
What do you want Boeser to make? Or rather, what deal Canucks should sign BB?
I would like to see BB sign 3-4 year bridge at 5.5 - 6.5M. I'd rather a bridge to see if he is a 30 goal 70 point guy or if he can pop 40G 80+ points regularly. I would then go with the 8 year deal. If he doesn't improve on what he is already doing then I would still consider long term but at the same dollar figure

If it was a good deal, then JB would have already signed him to it (4yr x 7M).
We'll see how you feel about it when he signs at or close to 7M a year

The market has been set already.
Nylander 7yr x 7M.
Meier 4yr x 6M.
Boeser contract will be similar to one of these contracts.
And no...4yr x 7M is not a good deal for Vancouver. Paying a premium and not buying any UFA years.
How is 4 @ 7M not a good deal. Do you think he will decline in play, stay about the same or improve? 7M isn't unreasonable, I would like to see between 6 and 7. You can't base a contract off how it will effect other players, but you can look at other players and see how it will effect his contract. I do not go looking for a job and ask if I take less will you hire more people, I maximise what I'm worth and for anyone to suggest players shouldn't... go in to work tomorrow and offer to take a pay cut to help out the business... 4 years is probably the best deal for both sides, maybe even better for the Canucks. Boeser will still be an RFA, as long as he doesn't get a back loaded contract like Meier qualifying shouldn't be too hard unless his play drastically declines. Then we have a chance at buying over 7 years of his UFA if Vancouver deems him worth it
-
Demko!!! I want to see him battle hard for that starting spot, make Marky earn his games. Good old LOU/Sneids battle, then see how we can screw that up lol

I would trade him if he is stuck on that number and term. This is the contract we need to hold the line on as it is what will be setting us up for the internal salary structure for Petterson and Hughes.
Those are the dollars he should be getting on a long term deal. 4 or 5 years is also the worst possible term for the team and best for the player as it gives him all the leverage for the next contract. The term is more important than the dollars.
4 year term is best for player and team, doesn't give him all the leverage as he would still be an RFA at the end of the deal. If they cannot come to agreement on contract they'll have an arbitrator decide. By asking for 4 years it would make me believe the player is interested in being here long term, if he wasn't and wanted all the power he would ask for 5 to take him through to UFA where he can command whatever the market place thinks he is worth. We all know how GM's like to over pay for UFA's

If he wants 4 years @ 28 mil I'd like to think they would settle for 4 @ 26. 6.5 Mil per year seems like a good deal for both sides, and Boeser would still be an RFA. Win win

Now with the roster taking shape, players being demoted/waived, here are my predictions
Ferland/Petey/Boeser
Pearson/Horvat/Miller
Gaud/Sutter/Virt
Ericsson/Beags/Motte
Schaller/Leivo - Schaller bottom 6 replacement/rotation, Leivo top 6 replacement/rotation when injuries happen
Until Rous returns. I will slot Rous in with Beags when he returns from IR, waive either Schaller or Ericsson, possibly Motte depending on who deserves to be with the team. Just because Ericsson is a 6 million dollar 4th liner does not mean he should be first demoted, if he out plays the others...
Edler/Myers
Hughes/Tanev
Benn/Stecher
Fantenburg
Sucks to see Baer waived, if we manage to hang on to him he will be first call up if we have a top 6 injury, he will not play bottom 6 and that is why he did not make the team.
Goldy will be picked up on waivers, if not I hope he wakes up and realizes that it takes more than just skill to get by in this league. Wish him the best of luck, hopefully as an impact player for the Canucks one day
I have Olli or Biega as first D call up
Petey with 80+ points
Boeser with 30+ goals
Ferland, Horvat, Miller all with 20+ goals, 50+ points
Still don't see a huge uptick from the back end, hoping that top paring crack 10+ goals each, 40 points, but I am hard pressed to believe that will happen. I don't think Quinn will be everything we hope, but would like to be proved wrong. I think he needs more time to be the impact D we hope he can be. Still think 30+ points isn't unreasonable, which would have been fantastic on last years team.

not sure how they’ll make the cap work but that’s a very interesting top 6 for us going forward.
i like the idea of miller with Petey and Brock. But that would be a better fit overall probabl and a really great for Bo.
does he sign a 1year deal to bet on himself kind of thing? Maybe his camp is disappointed with the offers he’s getting with his playing style and injury concerns?
Maybe Sutter will start the season on LTIR with Roussel. That's 7.485 M saved

If we're talking top 6 spot id rather see Jasek get the shot, I like Mac, I just don't think that's going to be his forte in the NHL. Just my opinion

They're definitely low-balling him. I can imagine Shanahan on his knees, begging Marner to stay for less than he'd make from another team.
Haha yeah I believe that

depends if the Leaves are low balling him. He's their best player, I assume he wants to be paid accordingly.
If your Marner you deserve more than Tavares or Matthews imo

I'd give 4 @ 7 to buy 7 to 8 more years of Boeser. It won't hurt us in the long run. JB just needs to rid us of some of the dead weight on the team
-
Any team can make an offer, Marner actually has to sign it. Do you think he really wants to play for the Islanders or Columbus? Gotta love the media this time of year...
[Discussion] Nucks need to make a move for a top line winger.
