  1. 1) actually vancouver is not at some huge disadvantage because it works both ways. When we have our home games the rest of the league has to travel the furthest they go all year to play us and we get a ton of teams either playing on back to back nights travelling from Edmonton or Calgary, or playing their third game in four nights after the Alberta swing (a lot of times both!) so that’s the trade off with our travel, which will actually get better once Seattle joins and now that VegA’s is here, (rather then Houston or Hamilton/Quebec city) or the fact Winnipeg is here and not Atlanta. Plus we get one of the easiest divisions in the league. If not the easiest. Every year almost a team who is last in our division wildcard wise usually has lower pt totals then other wildcards, same wth out top two teams in division.

    2)  you do realize theirs more equality in the NHL more now then ever right? Look at the standings and results of the first round last year of the fact a team in dead last at New Years won the cup. (Never happened in 100 years)

Who’s pretending that it’s just the Canucks? Sounds like you’re having some delusions about that.

UHhhh....everyone. I hear it all the time. “Once our roster is back to hundred percent we will dominate”. “It’s not fair we have so many injuries.”

have you not seen benning even linden and greens excuses every off season about injuries costing us. Which fans agree with.(that right there implies everyone else is mostly healthy because if it didn’t why would injuries be an excuse if everyone else had them?)

Another thing i cant stand is people saying we have 25 percent of our roster out. My god. List our seven or 8 best/most important players and almost every one of them is on our team right now.

    and im delusional.

imo Edler has been a good defenseman for Canucks for many years;  he plays his heart out, hits hard, blocks shots and is a real work horse.  Puts his body on the line for the team and always has.  But..........could we PLEASE leave him on the bench when we have a pp.  Why not try Myers or Stecher  -  someone who can get the shot through instead of his shot dying on the shins of the opponent (as it often does and often creates a 2 on 1 against).

Myers can get the shot through? Is

this a joke? Myers Has been shooting wide literally all year and three times IN A ROW vs the blues in overtime (late in the third and in overtime) ya know inbetwrrn giving the conn scythe winmer a breakaway with a minute left in the third in a tie game and crashing Into our tesmmates behind the net in overtime giving them that 3 on 0 where they scored.

hes big and clumsy. He’s on pace for zero goals through twenty games. And you want him to be given this

spot? I don’t understand people on this forum sometimes. I warned everyone he was lousy. He’s played lousy.

Would love to see some players return from IR. Ferland? Motte? Beagle? Roussel?

When will they return? When I ask? I implore thy gods of hockey to leave us from the injury plague! Spare us this penance!!!

Why why do people pretend it’s just our team that is just injured. Yeah most times we have one or two more then other teams but if you look at the quality of players on other teams they’re right uoo there, buffalo and tororoto haven’t played a full roster yet this year, there’s usually allways at least two or three pretty good to  good players out on mosst teams nightly it’s like people act as if the league has full rosters and we are always down half a roster each night

Getting frustrated with the lack of penalties against players slashing, hooking, holding, interfering with Petey.

This is how it is with alll stars in the league who do this. They can’t call them all, if they did there would be ten power plays a game on just him. We just haven’t had a player like Petey since prime henrik so we haven’t noticed it or it hasn’t been as noticeable until now. But I swear this happens to Eichel every game too I’m also a buffalo fan.

So how are Podkolzin and Hoglander the real deal? Their resumes dont impress me. I have seen some Podkilzin highlights, he likes to drive the net which is great to have. But still doesnt mean hes the real deal. I'd like to see our older prospects start getting some chances like Lockwood, Lind, Gadjovich.

It’s the same people who went nuts over dahlen and goldobin and shinkaruk and every other prospect we’ve had.

The Canucks will have a great chance of winning the cup in 2021-2022.

This is the year that I have marked on my calendar.   Why?   You may ask:   Here’s why:

    1) Miller will still be on his “sweetheart” contract.

    2) Boeser will still be on his bridge deal.

    3) Podkolzin and Hoglander will be here with on ELC deals.  Both players are the real deal, and will undoubtedly provide Horvat the necessary 2nd line help that we need.

    4) One of Markstrom and Demko will still be here, with Dipietro or a veteran back-up providing back-up.

    5) Quinn Hughes:  My guess is that Hughes will be signed to a bridge deal a la Zack Werenski style (whatever the equivalent of 5.5 million is at that time).
    6) Tyler Myers.   Myers will be older, but not old enough to the point where his game will be noticeably worse than it is now.   He will still be more or less the same player.

    7) Eriksson:  Eriksson’s contract will expire in three years, but mark my words:  He’ll be gone after this season.  Period.   31 of the 36 million will have been paid to Eriksson after July 1st 2020.   Retirement might be a realistic option here.     I’m not saying that this WILL happen, but I will say that there’s a really good chance.
    8) Chris Tanev:   I don’t think the Canucks will move Tanev, and will likely keep him at a very similar cap hit (with a longer term being the trade off).
    9) Woo and Juolevi should be full time roster players by this point.

    10) Elias Pettersson:    I think Pettersson is the one guy that will get the huge 8 year deal, but I don’t see us having cap issues at this point.

    11) Edler:   The Canucks will either re-sign Edler to a one year deal, or will find the Edler equivalent in the off-season prior.    Given how expensive top pairing dmen will be however, my guess is that the Canucks will bite the proverbial boner and offer Edler another two year 6 million deal.

I can see the Canucks facing cap issues shortly after the conclusion of 2021-2022, but I think 2021-2022 will be our best shot at winning a cup for the immediate future.   Please keep in mind that my math is super half-assed here.

Your not taking into account other teams rosters who are graduating either. I saw posts like this 2016 talking about the 18-19 season too and how horvat and virtanen we’re going to lead us to a cup. (Many had sedins still pencilled in on second line) I think this team is significantly better then too but a lot needs to go right. Can we at least get through a round or to the playoffs with this core before people talk Stanley.

    myers sucks btw.

    wake up

some of you guys are unbelievable in here. You want to like myers. That’s all it is. At the end of the year you’ll be screaming for a trade. I’ll be here to

tell you told you so. I’ve watched the guy play over 300 times easily, in buffalo and Kelowna.

hes already got one of the worst contracts in the league.

    Back under his bridge?

    Me.

    it was me.

    because he is horrible.

those numbers are largely against awful teams. Detroit, LA, a quarter of our games have been against them. Lol. Seriously people can you not see how cherry picked. those stats are

hes on pace for 0 goals and 19 assists with a -8 rating. Wow

man just blowing everything out of the water.

myers has like three assists this season and gives the puck away all the time. He misses the net. He blew the game against the blues by himself crashing into teammates causig a 3 on 0 for the blues. That’s bush league stuff. He hasn’t made one play to overwrite that one and even if he had it’s not enough to convince he isn’t awful.

He’s making more then mcavoy and werenski who signed at similar times. There is absolutely no justification for this.

this article was written by a damn Vancouver fan cherry picking analytics.

calling edler and myers one of the best pairings in the league is laughable. It’s straight comedy

“We work hard, we’ve proved every game we’re going to compete and battle. We have to continue to get better as the season ramps up.” - Stecher on the first 20 games

Can we stop posting green quotes.

there Have been many games where we have played bad. Not tons but there have been about 25 percent of the games or more .  We have had an extremely easy schedule in October with Detroit and la four times and If he wasn’t stuck obsessing over penalties we get that are clearly penalties and actually tried coaching he would see this.

  11. Were spending fifteen million on luongo, Eriksson and Tyler I’ll give the puck aWay twenty times but might get an assist every seven games Myers.

thats the cost of three Mackinnons.

Granted luongo isn’t his fault but Benning is  a genius am I right?

could be worse though, could be the leafs and have no backup goalie while and spending forty million on four people.

Young teams are streaky, happens around the league every year.

Edmonton and Buffalo have started out hot in the first month and by christmas are near the bottom of the league.

This year they are sustaining it so far, but who knows what will happen there too.

We have alot of youth, with that comes high highs and low lows.

The season is long,  we will see what this group is made of.

Worst case scenario.... it's a strong draft and our pick is lotto protected.

I hear your point but Buffalo and Edmonton both have new coaches though and while draisaitl and mcdavid with smith could get Edmonton far the sabres have vastly improved.

They added Colin Miller Henri Jokiharju and Brandon montour last trad e deadline. Pilut might be the best defensemen know one knows lik le

olofsson until this year was the best Swedish fed no on knows, they added Marcus Johansson jimmy vesey along with olofsson abdnmuttlestadt growing skinner is good and Reinhart is amazing this year. Ullmark is solid and Hutton’s ina. Contract year

    then

dahlin and Eichel another year older, Jack has  200 pts in his last 188 games! He did that with both his ankles sprained and no help for the most part compared to the rest of the league.

dahlin just put up the second best 18 yr old defensemen season in nhl history with numbers that we’re crazy, housley is first he passed Bobby Orr who is third. He had a all around corsi of fifty seven ppercent last year in all situations and at 18 averages 21 mins a game against men while playing behind a crap

    team last Years.

    Anyway

I think buffalo and hav have deeper better cores then oilers like Canucks sabres have abs amazing prospects on net demki DiiPin= ukko pekka Luukonen snd ullmark
