Looks like size is available at 33 - 6'6" Isaac Ratcliffe, LW and 6'5'' Nic Hague, D. Hockey News rated them 20 and 22.

That is true, but Boqvist is VERY skilled. I would like him over the size in Hague and Ratcliffe

I just read a Canucks Army article on this actually, who to pick at 33, (written after our 1st round selection), and Jesper Boqvist name came up.  He was loaned to Allsvenskan and played 19 games, I can imagine some of that with Pettersson and Dahlen and picked up 12 pts in those games.  I can imagine that piqued Bennings interest when he was scouting Pettersson, he plays C or W.

I readily admit I haven't had the time or willpower to look at many names beyond our 1st this year. I do know there are some good names, but I'll wait and see who we get then find out more. Positionally, I wouldn't mind another look at a defenceman though, if there's one with some upside but maybe a bit of risk still left.

If Benning drafts Boqvist, JAD or Mismash I'd be happy

After hearing his old coach Roger Forsberg comment his ability to see the ice and think ahead of the game, I'm more excited for this kid. I think the most valuable ability for any player in the NHL is the ability to think the game, quickly analyze the situation, and make quick decisions. If those are things that Pettersson excels at, then I'm excited.

I'm sure it's been talked about before in this thread but since he's playing in Europe and not in the CHL, would be be eligible for Utica right away if he so pleased? Far as I understand, it's expected that he'll be back in Sweden next year, but I'm just curious as to the options available.

He can play in Utica I believe.

But yes, he is 100% going back to Sweden next season with Växjö

Apples and oranges. One is nearly 21 and NHL-size with substantial AHL experience and Pettersson is still a young buck compared to Virtanen.

Right now I'd guess that Virtanen is far above Pettersson's level, but three or four years from now, who knows.

Virtanen is a better player right now of course.

My point is Petersson is a much more valuable prospect. If I had to have one of the two, it would be Petersson.

    So Petersson > Virtanen

I wonder if there's an outside chance that Patrick may fall to the Canucks at 5th, there's concerns about his injuries and the teams in front may go off the board or draft for need.

1NJ Hischier (Would look pretty good playing with Hall)

2PHI Mittelstadt (American and would be good for marketing, also will be given time to properly develop behind Giroux)

    3DAL Makar (need d badly)

4COL Heiskenan / Glass if they trade Duchene, but may take Patrick is he falls

    Not a chance.

If he isn't taken top 2, Dallas immediately gets 10-15 phone calls asking about the 3rd pick. No way he even makes it past 3.

As with last month's 27-team mock draft, there's no change at the top of our board, with Nico Hischier going first overall to the New Jersey Devils and Nolan Patrick going second to the Philadelphia Flyers.

In this edition, we're running on the assumption that the Vegas Golden Knights will have the 15th overall pick (from reports that they have a deal in place with the New York Islanders) and the 24th overall selection (stemming from a side arrangement with the Columbus Blue Jackets). There could be more updates to this order in the coming hours and days.

With three picks in the first round, we've got Vegas taking Windsor centre and Memorial Cup champion Gabe Vilardi sixth overall. He's a big centre with offensive skill and can to be a difficult player to defend against. At No. 15, they will continue to add down the middle with Owen Sound's Nick Suzuki, who is skilled with high hockey sense and the ability to contribute in all situations at a highly consistent rate. At 24 we have the Knights taking Russian winger Klim Kostin. He's a big, powerful winger who attacks the net well.

At No. 5, the Vancouver Canucks stick with Portland Winterhawk Cody Glass, a centre whose development is reminiscent of Mark Scheifele at the same stage. There’s no change from our last mock draft for the Winnipeg Jets, who should still take defenceman Juuso Valimaki with the 13th overall pick.

With the 16th selection, the Calgary Flames take a 'Swiss Army knife' type of player in Lias Andersson, who can play at all three forward positions. The Toronto Maple Leafs are next at 17 and should select forward Kristian Vesalainen. He's a strong, good-skating winger who can add offence and create space and opportunities.

Kailer Yamamoto went 25th overall to Montreal in our last mock, but he moves up a few spots this time and goes 22nd to the Edmonton Oilers. The Spokane winger is a diminutive, highly skilled forward who's elusive and makes things happen offensively.

With Mikhail Sergachev dealt to Tampa Bay for Jonathan Drouin, the Canadiens will need blueline depth. We've got them selecting Nic Hague of the Mississauga Steelheads with the 25th pick. At 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds, he's big and rangy but handles the puck well and can contribute offensively with a strong shot.

The Ottawa Senators have the 28th pick and we have them taking the lone goaltender of Round 1 with Jake Oettinger. He has all the attributes of a modern NHL goalie – size, patience and requisite skill.

Check out the full 31-team mock draft below, with links to our video analysis of each pick.

He has 2 D taken in the top 4.  If this actually happens, the Canucks will have their pick of the remaining centermen in the draft.

Also with the uncertainty of this draft, Vegas could be the ultimate winner with 3 first round picks.  They could select a player at 15 who is equally as good as a player that we select at 5.

as much as i like the idea of getting both Makar and Glass, I am not sure I would want Benning to part with Virtanen.  He is still very young and has lots of room to improve, and Green had him on the right track, remember it takes time for power forwards to grow and Jake is on pace to gel with our new group of prospects when they come on the scene.

    Plus he's from Abbotsford....

    Red Wings draftee, Claude Vilgrain?

Correct. 1982 draft looking back was stacked wow. Gilmour, Andreychuk, Housley, Verbeek, Bellows, Stevens, Ferraro, Dineen, Hextall. And of course Vilgrain.
