    Not defensemen.

He's said to  be very much like Jacob Trouba an still has a lot of untapped upside that could see him way out perform his draft position.

He may not be that far away either.

He's already got the size and skating.

He just needs to work on fine tuning his skills to NHL caliber.

But you should always take BPA in my opinion and not draft according to position

Tkachuk is their franchise center of the future.

    He's untouchable, imo.

Instead, I counter with the following.

Boeser to Buffalo for their 8th over all pick this year, Brandon Montour, and Mattias Samuelsson.

With the 8th pick I take Braden Schneider.

Montour allows us to move on from Tanev, and Samuelsson is a project for the future.

There are certaintly better options at 8th than braden schneider

If I'm going to trade a pick as valuable as this years 1OA, I'm going after pieces we need.

I think, right now, our top six is in great shape, if, they can be kept together.

    We need right side d.

I'd be more inclined to go after someone like Adam Fox in New York.

A young, offensive defender who's just ending his first season under his ELC, giving us a young, affordable, right handed budding star to add to a very needy blueline.

I'd also be looking to shed LE's cap hit.

1OA, Loui Eriksson to NY for Adam Fox

They get another key piece to their forward core and we get the badly needed right side threat from the blueline and some cap relief.

We then hold on to the saved cap space for next year's offseason when Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are up for new contracts.

I rather keep Lafreniere and promote Loui to Director of the Scouting Department ::D

    Lafreniere Petey Miller

This is what i believe the depth chart should be going into the playoffs. I think Juolevi is arguably the 3rd best LD on the team (regular team and black aces)

Take out Beagle, move Sutter to the C position and put MacEwan to the wing.

With Virtanen, Ferland, Roussel and MacEwan in the lineup, nobody is touching petey, quinn

    I am Seattle

Give me 2 2nd & 3 3rds round picks or I draft Demko, that or a first rounder.

    Or Else.

Now what and why would Seattle not do that? Who is going to be a better goalie for their future out there? He will have 3 years in the NHL, be under 27 and have a moderate contract. He will be moving closer to home. He solidifies Seattle for a 6+ years. There will not be a better option out there.

    2 2nds & 3 3rds are not realistic in my opinion.

In case Seattle asks for the moon, then try to trade him to another team & at some point Seattles demands will be lower ;)

OK, this is a knee jerk reaction to last nights game, but it is painfully obvious that we need energy and drive. Otherwise, we are going to see players like Pettersson and Hughes, pasted repeatedly against the boards and cheap shots on a regular basis. And that will just be the regular season. The playoffs will be a whole new beast. And we will be left with dust, and in the dust as we scrape our finesse players off the boards.

First off, let me say, I love all our players individually, and if surrounded with different players, all could play on a playoff winning teams. In saying that, I believe with our present make up and our current prospects, we are a little short on moxy and drive. In short our physical response does not live up to expectations. Nor does our offensive play, when the volume is turned up. It sickens me, when our skinny young Swedish centerman, will go back on a player, harder than our 212 lb captain, and I would not stop there, as there are more players, who I would hold accountable. But there is no point in naming names, only changing games!

I suggest we should at some point, spend asset to change this weakness, and at some point, right a wrong that will plague us for years to come. Now as much as I took a shot at Horvat, I am not proposing to trade him, only surround him, Pettersson, and Hughes with players, that can do that job on a regular basis. It will not come cheap!

My first thought is, that we  get a hard look at McEwen, Bailey, Rafferty, Juolevi and Demko on a much larger scale, because, we need to see, what we have before making and harsh moves, where we spend assets, that do not need to be spent. All of these players are players that if on the big club, will reduce cap, and help us, immensely. Now, as you can imagine, my playing Demko, is to establish, if he can in fact, be the Canucks starter now, opening up other opportunities.

There will be trades, that do not taste good, and are hard to swallow, but let me be clear, in some cases, those changes would be good. I asked myself just to clarify my thoughts, would I trade Brock Boeser's 44 points for Tome Wilson's 37 points? Would Washington? IMO, no Washington would not, and it would not take them long to give that answer.

My goal is to be a Cup contender in 3 years...…………..a lofty goal! To be sure!

Valuable incoming players not to be moved: Tryamkin, Hoglander, Podkolzin, Rafferty, Juolevi , McEwen and Bailey

Disposable prospect with value: Lind, DiPietro, Madden, Rathbone

Valuable Roster players that can be moved: Markstrom, Tanev, Boeser, Sketcher, Roussel, Leivo, and Pearson

Less Valued Roster Players: Eriksson, Sutter, Beagle, Schaller, Benn, Baertschi

    LTIR: Ferland

Now, I am not saying we move everyone on the lists, but lets see what we have left...……….

    Miller (5.5)        Pettersson(9.0)        XXXXXX                     XXXXX             Myers (6.0)                   Demko (4.0)

XXXXX               Horvat (5.5)            XXXXXX                    Hughes (7.5)     XXXXX                         XXXXXX

XXXXX              Gaudette (3.0)         Virtanen (3.0)             XXXXX             XXXXX

    XXXXX                 Motte (1.5)            XXXXXX

Just as a rough estimate of cost of players left after the purge with 2022-2023 values...…………..45 Million

    Estimated Cap in 2022-2023...…………………………………………………………………………….88 Million

    Remaining Cap space...……………………………………………………………………………………43 Million

Players not on the books at that time: Eriksson, Schaller, Benn, Sutter, Beagle, Roussel, Pearson, Leivo, Edler

The Luongo recapture penalty is gone! :towel:

So lets see what it looks like with the prospect that could slot in

    Miller (5.5)             Pettersson(9.0)        Podkolzin (1.5)                   Juolevi (1.5)       Myers (6.0)                  Demko (4.0)

Hoglander (1.5)      Horvat (5.5)            XXXXXX                             Hughes (7.5)     Tryamkin (3.0)              XXXXXX

XXXXX                  Gaudette (3.0)         Virtanen (3.5)                      XXXXX              Rafferty (1.5)

    Motte (1.5)             MacEwen (1.5)        Bailey (1.5)

At this point the Cap is approx...…………………………………………………………………………….59.0 Million

We have not traded a player, and we have increased our size and tenacity...………………………...Good!

Available cap space after placements...…………………………………………………………………….29.0 Million

Now, where do we go from here? Do we keep Boeser, Markstrom, Tanev, and Pearson?

Well, don't you think it depends on what you can get back?

By this time (2022-2023) Markstrom, Tanev, and Pearson will all be starting to age out

This is where I get to, and then ask myself, are we better to have kept those 4, or are we better to have moved on and increased our truculence?

Those 4 players will cost an estimated 23 Million...… (Boeser (6), Markstrom (6), Tanev (6), and Person (5)

Still leaving us around 6 Million to play with.

Short term...……...do you resign Marky and Tanev? Or move on? Do they really fit?

I can see holding onto Pearson and Boeser….pretty easy, really!(short term)

Getting Rid of Eriksson is easy, and we wait until after July 1st to do it...………...Cost? maybe nothing, maybe Madden? Maybe Gaudette if you like Madden?

IMO, long term...…..we need more muscle? I would love a Kreider, Greenaway, Anderson type. All would cost!

I would also like a Gallagher or Domi type, are they warriors!

What about a Max Domi for Boeser trade?

How do we get tougher in the future? We do need it! This is where I get stuck!~ Right here!......do we go left or right?

Let's keep the Flow and Marky!

Maybe we can make a deal with Seattle to not take Marky or Demko. This would be a very solid tendy duo.

    Lets rooooollll nucks tonight

Since Arizona is seeming to make a push for the playoffs this year, I think we are in a prime leverage position to make them an offer they can't refuse. We would obviously have to make a couple trades/roster moves to accomodate this trade under the salary cap, but I think that both teams benefit fairly from this deal.

    To Arizona:

    Demko

    Pettersson

    Edler

    Eriksson

Conditional 1st 2020 (if the pick is 1st overall, Vancouver instead gives their 2021 2nd through 7th round picks)

    To Vancouver:

    Kessel

    Hall

    Keller

    Soderberg or Ekman-Larsson

    5th, 6th and 7th round picks in 2020 and 2021

Why Arizona benefits from this deal:

Arizona is leading the Pacific division, and they would be in great shape to maintain that lead with the addition of a great player at each position. Pettersson would immediately slot into their top 6, Demko could probably lock down a starting role soon upon his arrival in the desert, Edler is a veteran presence on the back-end, and we sweeten the deal by throwing in a very tempting 1st round pick. Plus, Eriksson could fit in well in the top 6 with Pettersson if Loui manages to get back on his game and return to form.

Why Vancouver benefits from this deal:

We add two very skilled and young top 6 forwards in Hall and Kessel (bonus benefit: hot dog sales go up 200% at the arena) - both of which are proven playoff performers and have 2 Stanley cups between them. We acquire a premium young player in Keller that is somewhat comparable to the skill we are losing in moving Pettersson, and a great defenseman to replace Edler in either Soderberg or Ekman-Larsson. Also, we move out Eriksson's contract which clears up some cap space to sign Hall to an extension, and we pick up a boatload of low draft picks (let's remember, Zetterberg was drafted in the 7th round). And, by moving Demko, we can stop talking about which goalie we have to protect in the Seattle expansion draft.

This is a clear win-win for both teams, and for the league and the fans themselves. There aren't many blockbuster deals made like this anymore, and it would definitely get some buzz going for both teams going into their playoff races.

Can you imagine if Arizona and Vancouver met in the first or second round of the playoffs? All of the traded players would have a huge chip on their shoulder, looking to defeat their former team and prove to them that they shouldn't have been traded. It could be the beginning of the next big Western Conference rivalry, like Detroit/Colorado or Calgary/Edmonton.

    Thoughts?

    Stop posting such bullsh**

  9. If the Canucks can't figure out a contract with Boeser well then..

I think it's absolut bullsh** that he's not at camp now and that nowadays RFA signings are so $&!#ty as they are now. Marner rejects 7/8 years 10mil wtf is wrong?

Are todays players & agents so greedy and care so less about a franchise with the goal to compete?!

I still hope he's in the opening lineup then the last thing we need is a nylander situation in vancouver.

Maybe someone has more information about the current situation?

Just a thought but could u send boeser or a really nice contract like horvats with maybe Sven , to get sabastian aho a contract Carolina didn’t want and to take that further throw in picks for them to take Louie, who after the 15th is only owed 3 mill a yr helping Carolina get to the floor.

At least your posts just can get better. Stop proposing trades involving our core namly Bo, Brock, Petey, Quinn & PutGoalsIn

Finally we have some core pieces in place and somehow people wanna trade them, i don't get that. :picard:

So unlikely as this would be, if GMJB did something like this, it would be one of the biggest offseasons in the history of the franchise.

    TRANSACTION #1

This all hinges on one major thing happening:  Offer Sheet Mitch Marner at $12M per season where the Leafs don't match.  Unlikely?  Yes... but this whole scenario is unlikely, so just read on for fun lol.  Assuming Marner signs it, and the Leafs don't match, we now have Marner.

    To VAN:  Marner

    CAP HIT:  +12M

    TRANSACTION #2

    To EDM:

    Sutter

    To VAN:

    Kassian

We know Edmonton could use a 3rd line centre to play the heavy defensive minutes.

Canucks get some more size and grit back to add to the size movement while dumping cap.  Kassian is still decent, especially if he were in a 4th line role.

    CAP HIT:  -$3M

    TRANSACTION #3

To Any Team with Cap Space:

    Eriksson

    Boeser

    To VAN:

    1st round pick

Moving LE will need a sweetener.  Attaching him to Boeser would surely make LE a lot more desirable.

    CAP HIT:  -$6M

    Net result:

IN:  Marner, Kassian, 1st round pick

OUT:  Boeser, Sutter, LE, 4x 1st round picks

CAP HIT:  +$3M which leaves about $2M in cap space to start the season

    New Lines:

Ferland-Petey-Miller (Line 1A) - Petey is the setup guy on this line

Pearson-Bo-Marner (Line 1B) - Marner is the setup guy on this line

    Baertshi-Gaudette-Virtanen

    Kassian-Beagle-Leivo/Motte

And how do we sign petey & quinn in 2 years?

Benning needs to continue the momentum and complete the rebuild ...

    1.  Trade Eriksson and 4th Rd Pick to OTT for Condon and 6th Rd Picks (SJ and STL) - OTT gets cap amount with only paying 50% of the dollar amount. Offload Condon contract.

    2.  Trade Condon and Schaller to CLB for 6th Rd Pick - CLB needs goaltender insurance now that Bob has gone to the sunshine state.

    3.  Trade Sutter to NYR for 2021 3rd (Buff) and 2020 7th Rd pick - Center depth in case youngsters don't pan out

    4.  Trade Baertschi, Tanev, Goldobin to BUFF for Ristolainen

    5.  Sign Ferland $3.5M, 3 years - protection for Pettersson

    6.  Sign Johansson $5.0M, 3 years

    RFA's signed - Boeser $7.3M/8yrs, Leivo $1.3M/2yrs, Motte $975k/2yrs

    CAP $73.7M

    Ferland   Pettersson  Boeser

    Pearson  Horvat        Johansson

    Rousel    Miller          Leivo

    Motte      Beagle        Virtanen

    Edler              Ristolainen

    Hughes          Myers

    Benn              Stecher

    Fantenberg    Biega

    Markstrom

    Demko

We need cap space in 2 years for signing petey & quinn so i'm not sure these 3 year deals make sense at all.
