  1. Looks like Lesner/ Dos Santos will headline Vancouver as the two new coachs of TUF
  2. I gotta say when UFC bought Pride I was so stoked about Fedor possibly coming into the UFC, not anymore. Surprise surprise he is having contract/fight negotiation problems with Strikeforce forcing his fight against Antonio "Big Foot" Silva in January off for now. This guys unwillingness to fight is driving me nuts and I was one of his biggest fans, he is making a joke of his legacy, granted I realize that Strikeforce does not have as many shows a year as the UFC but there are shows he could have fought on more than once in the last year. Instead of looking at Fedor "the man" I am looking at Fedor "the joke" and it has nothing at all with him losing to Werdum, everybody gets caught, it has to do with his part ownership/affiliation/taking it up the backside with M1.
  3. That was the first time I have jumped off my couch shouting in a long time. That was AMAZING, not so much the result even, just that someone had the cojones to try that in a very important round in a very close fight.
  4. Wow no comment on Strikforce, it was a decent card. Jacare was great, Bigfoot was much better than I thought he would be and Arlovski was worse than I thought, man he has always been a favorite of mine but if he is going to keep fighting the way he has, he needs to retire. Overeem was amazing, I figured he would beat Brett, but not as easy as he did. I am looking forwards to seeing him more in Strikeforce.
  5. I have followed MMA long before the Ultimate fighter, along with Yvel hitting the ref this is one of the worst showings of sportsmanship I have ever seen. I hope that Dana keeps his word on this and we never see Daley again. I was actually a Daley fan, although limited in his skills he was entertaining, but after last night I could care less about any of his fights again. There is no need for what he did.
  6. As Harbinger said these things happen .... but they shouldn't. That was an embarressment last night, worse than what Anderson Silva did the previous week by far. If I was Scott Coker I would (and I am sure he is) be pissed. While I am sure at least someone in the Strikeforce camp (although they deny it) let Mayhem in there what the Diaz brothers did was rediculous Melendez was no angel either but it was the two Idiot brothers that seemed to be the worst. I have been hoping for Nick's return to the UFC for awhile but now if I were Dana not only would I not sign Nick but I would seriously consider letting go of Nate as well, for it is only a matter of time until those goofs pull something like that in the UFC. As for Shields in the UFC, I could care less, not exactly a barn burner there. It doesn't always have to be knockouts and quick submissions, but it would be nice to see a fight that the dude who won laid on the other guy for 20 minutes and hit him about as hard as my 7 month old daughter would hit.
  7. Man I hope Kimbo gets stomped, I can't stand that guy. He was mildly amusing as a youtube fighter, but as a MMA fighter the dude is a joke, it's like he is trying to be a love-child of Rampage and Mr. T.
  8. My problem with it is not how many fights he has had but who he has fought. Out of all his fights there are few dangerous guys, I will give it to him he fought Nogueira a couple times, Cro-Cop, Arona, Herring, and an old useless Coleman. Now against those guys who are considered the upper level of heavyweight fighters I will give him credit, that he beat all of them is impressive. But what isn't impressive and I was trying to allude to in my earlier post is that while he has those fights the majority of his fights are against either guys fighting from a lower weight class: Babalu, Lindland or guys who are nowhere near being in the top 50 HW's: Choi, Hunt, Schall... So when you look at his record and how fast he wins most of the fights to me it is padded record for the most part being that he is fighting sub-par opponents, it would be like having an NHL team play against a junior B team. When put up against top opponents like Nog (Decision twice accidental cut once) Cro-Cop (Decision) Herring (Cut) he has not dominated and finished like he has steamrolled through the other lower card fighters. I can't say that Fedor is the best fighter in the world because of his padded record, I do not consider Brock the best either though, he is way to new to the game and needs to fight top fighters and sustain the pace, but at least so far he has been doing that, fighting top fighters and until Fedor is in the UFC and fights all the top guys to me his legacy will be lessened.
  9. Before I start this I want to make one thing very clear, I am a huge Fedor fan. The man is amazing at every aspect of the game, his submission work is probably the fastest and most dangerous, his striking is right up there with anyone in MMA, the man seems unbeatable. However I do not consider him the best in the world mainly because he has built a very impressive 30-1 record against sub-par opponents, while for every Cro-Cop or Big Nog he has fought he has also fought Hong Man-Choi, or Hunt who I do not think anyone would rank in even the top 50 heavyweights. You state you admire him for not fighting strictly for the money, which I will agree is admireable, but I would think you would like to test himself against the best in the world. His last two fights were against Tim and Andre, both of whom were not in the UFC, and while they were both past UFC champions they could no longer hack it there, both were on their way down and built up to be serious threats in a situation that they wern't. You talk about his loyalty, which is again admireable. But if you look at it another way He is the only thing M-1 has to grasp on to, no Fedor no M-1, while I commend him for this he is letting the prime of his competitive career pass him by. Here is an intresting post on a thread form ufc.com about Fedor vs Brock, and I am not a huge Brock fan, but a decent post nevertheless. First thing I'm going to do is tick a bunch of Fedor fans off by stating that I don't think he's the best HW in the world and that I do believe he is overrated. Now, I'm going to tell you why: Fedor has 30 wins...sounds pretty impressive doesn't it? Until you look over his opponents. Sure there are a few notables, but... 8 guys with losing records, 4 of which have 0 career wins, and a bunch of so-so guys inbetween those notables. Seriously, it's not just the overal record of the fighter but the caliber of his opponents that makes the legend IMO. How many names can you honestly put out there from his 30 wins? Yes, *** twice, Cro Crop, then you're already dropping a tier...Sylvia and Arlovski might sound impressive until you take a look at this period of their careers (not impressive period btw). Now, many like to bash Lesner, but let's look at each of these fighters first 5 fights. Fedor W- Lazarov 0-2 career record W Lagvilava 0-2 career record W Takada 1-3 career record W Arona 13-5 career record W Apostolov 0-1 career record Brock W- Kim 3-6 career record L Mir 12-4 career record W Herring 28-14 career record W Couture 16-9 career record W Mir 12-4 career record Wow, so Fedor's opponents for his 1st 5 matches have amassed career numbers of 14-13 (thanks to 1 decent fighter) Brock's...71 wins and 37 losses. Now, to me, Brock's 4-1 record to Fedor's 5-0 is more impressive due to the level of competition he's faced at this similar point in their careers. Heck, look at fedor's 5 most recent fights now: W- Hunt 5-6 W Lindland 21-6 (what weight class is this guy again?) W Choi 2-2 W Sylvia 24-6 W Arlovski 15-7 That's 67 wins and 27 losses. This includes 2 guys who had no business fighting a top notch fighter. 1 guy who had no business fighting a top notch HW and two guys who by all apearences appear washed up careerwise. I'm sorry if I'm left a bit unimpressed. I think Brock goes 5-0 against this group as well. Is Fedor a good fighter? Yes. Is he the best HW? Not in my book until he's proved it and unfortunately for him and M-1, the bulk of that proof lies within the UFC ranks. Fighting a handfull of good fighters in a sea of not so good fighters doesn't cut it for me. I think he is overrated more than anything in his M-1 management's eyes, They seem to think he deserves more than any fighter of any orgnaization. Let's not get THAT excited. Sure, most of us would love to see him and Brock, or Couture, or a host of other UFC fighters mix it up, but he desrves no more than a comparable, fair offer that other UFC top notch get. His management team is making him look like a prima donna and it's only going to turn more against him I believe. Right now, he's like a good movie that's been dubbed the greatest ever by it's producers and it's only diminishing the good aspects of the film. Now I know many will look at this and my post saying we are Brock and UFC nuthuggers, but I am far from either, I have been watching MMA far before "The Ultimate Fighter" and am just saying things the way I and the guy who wrote the post on the other site see it.
  10. I have been following this thread since it started and have posted in it a couple times, a couple of the things I have noticed on this one is: You for the most part know what you are talking about. You hate Dana White. You feel the need to belittle almost anyone who disagree's with you stating they know nothing. I am not a "tuffer" as you call it, I have been watching MMA for much longer than the Spike series and while there are plenty of things I will agree with you on, there are plenty of things like your arrogance above that I don't agree with.
  11. Man Diego and Clay was golden. I have always been a fan of both of these guys just because they never quit, they are cardio freaks, but it still exceeded my expectations. And Clay still continues to impress me more every fight he has, dude should have been sleeping a couple times and the bugger still doesn't back down.
  12. If Chuck loses this one he really should retire, Shogun was brutal in that fight. I was/am a huge Chuck fan but damn he has really slipped, I don't know if he bought into his hype too much and stopped training or what happened: brutal KO by Rampage, horrible show against Jardine, great fight against Silva, brutal KO by Evans. Against Rampage fight could have gone either way and same with Silva (although I am surprised that nobody got KO'd in that one), but against Jardine and Evans there is no way he should have lost those two. I fear he is about to "Tito" himself and stick around when he isn't on top anymore.
  13. Bader isn't going to last long against Vinnie, same with Escardero against Novar. I am glad Escadero beat Junie though, I have been waiting for that idiot to get beaten since the first show, dude is a nutjob.
  14. Evan Tanner has been found dead. He was on a motorbike trip and hadn't been heard from in a few days, from what I have seen so far it looks like he died of exposure due to 100+ heat. This is too bad, he was always one of my favorite fighters, I will miss watching him in the cage. RIP Tanner.
