What an entirely false narrative about a "warrior" like player who gives everything he has for the Canucks organization (inclusive now of leaving term/$ on the table that were out there in free agency).    Brutal character assassination of one of the most loyal and capable players to ever put on the uniform.   No, he isn't' a superstar but he is the type of player EVERY team in the NHL would love to have and the type you win with.

Some posts on CDC are so far down the "shake you head" road you really wonder what people expect.

    Rant done....

Like I said, good signing given the circumstances.

Freedom 40 plan?  This is great as he is 33 and signed a 2 year deal that is very club friendly. The guy has battled through more adversity than most can imagine,  been our best defender for quite a while and never got the support he should have in terms of players on the ice or from “fans” like you. This is a great signing, lots of upside, virtually bo risk. You won’t get a better dman this year without giving up assets, more term and more money.

As to the nickname...I’m guessing you just started watching hockey recently. Edler just took one for the team and you say he doesn’t care. It’s no wonder UFA’s won’t come here without Albatross contracts.

Ya I'm graduating from roller hockey spectator to the bigs.

To what are you basing any of this on?

Yeah that nickname is almost as bad as someone using the word “terribad” in real life.

    Past performance from #23

I doubt the Nucks are going to be anywhere close to winning the cup during the next to years.

The team needs Edler to do what he's always done; eat up big minutes, add some physical presence and ++ experience.  There is no dman on the team that can replace Edler as of yet.  Having him for 2 more years gives the young LDs more time to develop and JB more time to build a solid defence.

You personal account of Edler's character aside...He clealry is the right signing for the team at this point in time.

Like I said, Good signing Given the Circumstances. However, this is the type of player we don't want to target in the future. Never quite meets expectation (except in a contract year, seems like he plays down to his pay grade a lot of the time.

Funny how short the memory of the fanbase is. Edler was the whipping boy for awhile (non-contract years) with his lackadaisical play and bonehead giveaways. He has been asked to punch above his weight fr awhile, I will concede that.

Now that the panic of signing a D-man has subsided and the Euphoria over his contract details is in full swing, Edler is the big hero LOL. Everything about his contract was a PERSONAL decision. The needs of the team didn't factor into Edler's thought process one iota. Don't be so naive.

Now let's see if he reverts back to non-contract year Edler....

I actually wouldn't be adverse to Eddie wearing the C for the next cpl seasons.  I like Bo, but I'm not sure he's ready and, depending on madden and AG, I'm not sure hes in Van long term

Edler is on the Freedom 40 plan. He doesn't want the C, he doesn't care to win the Cup, he just wants to be comfortable for the next few years.

Also, who gave him the nickname "Eagle"? Just terribad

  3. Look, this is a great deal given the current circumstance but I will say that Edler's priorities have never ever been to win the Cup. Much like the Sedin's, he has given Vancouver a sweetheart deal due to his personal needs. This is not the type of player you build a Cup winner around.

He is comfortable in Vancouver and just wants to ride it out here. We need to steer clear of these types of player mentality starting NOW.

    Lol ok.

It shouldn't boggle the mind that the Drama Teacher come PM Trudeau is scrambling for votes and that he doesn't care if the talk going from the left side of his mouth contradicts what comes out of his ass.

They are replacing 66 year old pipeline with modern technology and oversight = benefit to the environment

More jobs and a better economy also helps the environment in a lot of ways which go unmeasured. One of which is that people have a more secure and consistent standard of living which allows them the time to Morally Grandstand and profess what stewards of the environment they are while pointing fingers at everyone around them with one hand while holding a disposable Starbucks cup in the other.

although this government declaring a climate emergency and then literally the next day approving this pipe....boggles

Not really. You know what the first thing out the window is when people don't have jobs or food? The environment. Nobody gives a damn about the precious environment when they can hardly feed their family. This pipeline will actually be a net benefit to the environment.

I don't remember 1994 but if Linden could have played in 2011.....

Asking Sedin to be Bure or another injured Canuck to be Linden is grossly unfair.   You will never know what injuries/extent everyone had not what the coaches asked of the players.   To say that one player "wants it more" as he will be more of DBag or is injury isn't as bad seems really disingenuous.    Canucks came as close as a team can come in 2011 and fell a game short.   Why on earth that is "embarrassing" I have not a clue.

The response of Bure is indicative of the entire 1994 team. It indicates pushback, tenacity, a willingness to take things one level further in order to defeat your opponent.

The response of Sedin was pathetic in any hockey game, but especially so considering the context of the SCFs. That is precisely why the 2011 team doesn't garner much respect and never will. Skilled? Hell ya. A hockey team to be proud of? Not so much. (See also: 2019 Tampa Bay Lightning)

    Sedin speed bagged

    Luongo  "tire pumping"

    7uongo melt downs

Burrows/Yappiere/Kesler being agitators but nothing more

    Biting the gloves

Being up 3-2 in the SCF and having no finish

The complete lack of effort in Game 7 SCF in YOUR OWN BARN! They got Shut the F%$& OUT in Game 7 in their own rink. Pathetic

    The riot

What else am I missing?  All sources of embarrassment for Canuck fans.

I don't get embarrassed by other people's choices.

Then how do you reconcile revelling in other grown men's victories?

  7. I get that Edler has been a frustrating player at times. He hasn't fulfilled expectations that were projected on to him and like a lot of other Canucks, maybe he has been asked to punch above his weight.

I used to get a comment on my report cards almost every semester that would read " Good enough rather than best seems to satisfy this very capable student". I think that applies to Edler as well.

I also think we will miss him when he is gone.

Apparently this one didn't make the final cut.  It is the fifth Jersey for long weekend away games on the West Coast before Christmas.

Christmas shopping season is right around the corner!

Word on Griffiths Way is they may have re-worked the ugly xmas sweater. It goes on sale Dec 1 and there is limited supply.

I see empty net goals as an indication the coach trusts the player’s defensive awareness as tops on the team.  Jake is a very good defensive minded player.  Goals and offence (which he has plenty of natural skills for) will come.

I hear you but when comparing goals to goals, you gotta have some context if one guy has 33% ENs
