Alflives, you're starting to echo the sentiments of our resident hockey wizard, and Junior B all-star—canuck2288. Are you a Melmacian, or a parrot? Polly want a new coach?

Boys still got a period to lose it.
Additionally, you have this intermission to vanish under a bridge.

Lamplight Loui!

Beautiful play by Hughes. I keep forgetting this is his rookie season.

Tyson Barrie done. Looks like a shoulder injury. Not good for the Laughs or anyone wanting to add him to their lineup.
Can't say Barrie was too appealing, healthy or otherwise. Good player, but the price tag for prying him off of the Laughs may have been a smidgen too steep? Anyways. Observe the Honey Badger badger-handling Barrie as if he were a Bantam leaguer.

Well, I never...
Days later and I'm still flummoxed by the fantastic flub by Loui on Wednesday. A gaping, yawning net complete with detailed instructions on how to execute a bullseye goal, and the man fudges that simple task in astonishing failure.
Loui's gifts as a player transcend description.

They can't keep the puck out of their own net, though.
164 GA. That's good for 2nd best in the Western conference. None too shabby.

Great idea putting Loui in the lineup. Awesome plan.
Earning that sweet keep. One laboring skate at a time.

How 'bout some delicious ironing?
At the draft, the gnome has an announcement to make:
"The New Jersey Devils trade their first pick in the 2020 draft to (pregnant pause)
the Vancouver Canucks for Thatcher Demko."
The 1st they trade to us is our own 1st from the Miller trade.
JB apparently said he would get it back.
It won't be a very high 1st (cuz we are going to do well in the playoffs).
So we may be able to add Louie or Baer cap dumps to the deal as Jersey has lots of cap and 3 (count 'em) 1st round picks.
Tonight is Top Titty Night - So Let's Get Back On Track!
(Apologies for thread derailment.)
You shameless optimist, you. But agreed--top titties all the way.

Don't you see? This is what the enemy wants! Dissension among out ranks. The real enemy is out there, gentlemen. Out there!

Wow, you guys are just hyping each other up so much in this thread...
Zack looked great yesterday but had a lot of games earlier in the year where he did not look great at all. Pittsburgh road game being probably the worst of the bunch if anyone remembers, or are we all suffering from collective selective memory loss (I should name bands)?
I loved seeing Horvat, JT and Zack on the ice together. I don't know if it's realistic for a line long term, but I'd love to see it again. It's not that Zack encourages so much enthusiasm, but rather Loui embodies intense feelings of boredom and frustration. Watching Loui lumber up the ice at a live game is the hockey equivalent to paint drying.

The pace and flow of yesterday's game (second period withstanding) was excellent. It was exciting and, to me, it felt like the team was really tuned in with each other. Eriksson's effectiveness has waned, once again, to the reptilian level you mentioned. The team needs more youthful energy, size, and speed. I do think that MacEwen will bring that far more consistently than Eriksson will, and for far less salary wise.
Did Eriksson's time on Bo's line do enough to make him a viable trade target? Probably not. Then again Jim Rutherford is in a trading kind of mood lately, so fingers crossed.
Sacrifices to the hockey gods are being made--lethargic Loui needs to go. That give and go with Miller was a display of beauty. I'm liking this kid, Phil.

Some were saying the same about Gaudette at certain points. If MacEwen (and I realize it's a big if) continues with the level of play that he's shown already this season, it would be hard to not make room for him over players like Schaller or Eriksson. The Comets could use Schaller and Eriksson too.
Bring out the energy, I say. If we flounder, at least it's done in entertaining fashion while observing heat-seeking missiles on the ice. Eriksson has about as much pep as a lizard on a warm rock. A six-million dollar lavish rock.

Having issues with the officials is an tradition from time immemorial. But their ineptitude seems to be particularly troublesome this year, league wide. Something has to give.
