Hmm, this all Canadian division is looking pretty difficult.

This is probably the first time I'm drawing blank thinking of a positive from a period. That was our worst period in a while.
Canucks aren't down by more?

Hoglander is really impressive. High hockey IQ and not afraid to got to the tough spots. Also, good skill.
Juolevi, invisible, which is great. He's really solid. JT back is a huge difference.

yeah was wondering where it was last game, the budgets cut that much?
I've always thought they should show shot totals and team records.

Agree, i'm sure he's thrown a few objects frustrated and wanting to be in the line up. especially being healthy and ready go
Really think overall him or Bo are our most valuable players right now (more the Petey or Hughes) so without him it shakes the whole team up.
He's back tomorrow. I fully expect a different outcome.

They are having trouble finding their feet. Not surprising but hard to watch.
One thing that seems to be troubling them is expecting playoffs officiating. So often they are looking incredulous at calls that are regular season calls that maybe aren’t called during the playoffs.
Hoglander has some defensive gaffs but I love his passion and effort.
They will get better. Just hope it is quick.
I really think it's JT Miller missing. When he comes back, all will be right.

People's been way overhyping Pettersson for a while now. Did you see McDavid in Game 2? That's what superstar domination looks like. Pettersson's not there yet. He has shown flashes of it during the first 40 games of season 18/19. That super accurate wicked shot, that zone control where the opposition actually backs off when he has the puck. Dunno where it went..
EP and McDavid are not in the same category. No one in the NHL is at his level. Crosby and Ovie in their primes.
EP could get there, but I doubt it. He is more of a very good star. Mitch Marner jumps to mind.

Probably not. Would you trade Horvat for Virtanen and some prospects?
Well said.

Boeser > Dubious Dubois
I was never good at these. Does the mouth eat the better player or is the better player eating?
Either way PLD is better than Brock IMO, not by much. Both have very high ceilings.

Could you get PLD for Jake and some prospects? Podkolzin maybe?

The whole team was lackluster but Virt is to blame.
He is easy to blame because we all see how talented he is and when he makes mistakes they are amplified. He is unfortunately in Cam Neelys shadow because we all want him to be that.
I think he ends up being a serviceable 3rd or 4th liner. I think he could be an elite level shadow. He is north to south and has about 3% creativity.
Other guys like that had great careers. Dino Cicarelli comes to mind. He doesn't have Dinos drive but man, I wish Zack or Roussel had Jake's skill.

with 8 more games against Edmonton,
Greener and the boys should teach Virtanen to be McD;'s shadow
Agreed, he is the only guy that can keep up with him. He takes bad penalties though and McD is notorious for causing teams to take bad penalties. Need a balance. I would like to see someone railroad McD instead of just letting him gather speed and crossing the blue line without resistance.
Aaron Rome around for a shift?

You're trying to make the argument that McDiver's better than Mario as well...
He's more dynamic

Could Virtanen shadow McDavid all night?

At the end of the season, when they miss the playoffs again. How can they want to stay, when the team is mostly comprised of bargain basement signings?
Edmonton sadly is the victim of it's own geography.
As well as mismanaging their drafts, assets, stars and on and on.

That's great news. Last night's play calling was brutal.
I am not sure what was happening last night with the broadcast. It felt like a few people called in sick and they were like "is anyone in the broadcasting class around".
On a side note, the Joey Moss tribute and story was great. I grew up with that story, so much class from the organization.

That patchwork defense is just pathetic. The Soilers are in for another crap season. If either one of their star forwards wants to win, they're going to have to do it elsewhere.
How long before one of those two wants out? Edmonton is a horrible place to leave, almost as bad as their defence.

What does Green see in Pearson that most don't? It's not that he isn't serviceable, but top 6?
