McDavid 103 points - 12.5 million----- He had 71 assists more then any leaf in points....

    Mathews  66 points - 11.6 milllion--- Over paid - Maybe  9.5

Tavares    50 points -  11 million -- Over paid -- should of been like 8.5

    Marner     67 points - 10.9 million --- Over paid -Maybe 9.5

I was inferring McDavid is underpaid for what he does for The Oilers. Around 15m is league Max and McDavid would be worth every penny of that.

Doughty is a great player and will be good for some time but he isn't a 11 million dollar player.

Heck, except McDavid, no one deserves 11+ mil salary.

If Doughty was as good as McDavid, LA wouldn't be this bad.

McDavid is worth a league max salary. There is no player who is even close to him.

Where though? I don’t know how any team that is even close to contending could fit his cap And make it worthwhile for the Kings to move him.

Edmonton has the cap space this coming offseason. Florida, buying out Bobrovsky would make it possible. Colorado another team that has the cap space to take him on and would look scary with him.

Colorado also has the prospects to easily acquire him. I would bet on them landing him if he wanted to move and win.

    Who didn’t play hockey?

Im pretty sure the scouts have a better idea than you and me who the top players are. They’ve only been watching them since they were 15.

The top D men in this draft are pretty obvious. We don’t need to win the lottery to draft one. Just need to lose the final three games.

Your argument is completely facile. Literally, you are insinuating I am ranking players better than scouts and then go on to say the top d in the draft are pretty obvious. The kids played shortened seasons or didn't play at all so scouts have to use older data to form rankings. That is what makes this draft so difficult and scouts can't get accurate rankings. There are going to be rankings all over the board. You are completely disregarding this common knowledge that is spoken almost every time a ranking is provided because you've decided there are 3 D you want on the team. When what I have said is if a full season or all the kids got to play then these 3 D may have moved back in the draft and others moved forward. We had NHL GM's not wanting to do this years draft due to this very reason.

You're trying to be condescending and let me tell you it is not working out very well for you.

I have 11 million reasons per season why no other team would want him.

Doughty is worth his contract and still has around 4-5 solid years left of play. There are around 1-2 years were he won't be worth his contract but that is pretty good looking around the league at contracts like Karlsson and Vlasic.

Our team needs a player like Doughty regardless of his attitude. Every team needs a player as good as doughty on their backend if they want to win a cup.

Problem is we’re not gonna win the lottery, so we want to stay where we are so that we don’t fall farther back.

The top 5 give you way better odds than 6-12. Look at any draft and you’ll see that. Every fan should be hoping for those better odds because they do make a difference.

First off, who knows who wins the lottery. Second, show me a draft where the kids leading up to the draft didn't even play hockey? Your logic is complete fallacy.

You know what I am hoping for that Demko plays lights out and proves he is not just a one hit wonder and is actually a top 5 goalie in the league.

Canucks fans already convincing themselves we don’t need a top pick?

Im sure those players are really good, problem is we need great players. Those players are harder to identify as you move towards 10 and later.

The top picks in this draft don't even matter. A lot of the time players ranked highly at the beginning of the year fall way back and others move way up and this year hardly anyone played. Not only that but the lottery keeps getting won by teams outside the top 5 so who cares where we finish.

sounds like more in an advisory role, which seems like a very good idea to me. Probably not so much to Benning tho, when your boss starts publicly looking for outside help its probably time to brush up the resume.

Well didn't Benning take over for president when Linden left? Maybe they are trying to find a new president someone to keep Benning in line.

He's been on the worst team in the league his whole career and still puts up solid numbers

The way I see it is a first and second for him

The rest is to unload Eriksson which moves this team closer to contention.

Imagine having the cap space to get potentially Larsson to play along side Hughes and make a top 6 acquisition

I wouldn't argue against first round pick but I would argue against a top 10 pick which ours likely will be. I also don't think he would be that cheap. I see Buffalo saying the same things you are and know he is an RFA and likely want a first plus hoglander or something like that. I just think that is too rich for a team that really struggles defensively and need to land a top 4 young dman somehow. Also, I don't see anyone taking Eriksson.

So was that your position when Theo Fleury came out and spoke (years later) about when he was also abused by coach Graham James?  Sheldon Kennedy was the first to speak out about it.

If Graham didn't acknowledged his abuse to Theo, I'm guessing your position would have been that Theo also looking for a payday?

This went to the NHLPA, a counselor and the Blackhawks all of whom never saw any wrong doing and then suddenly when there is a conviction someone comes forward and starts suing? Yea okay, believe whatever you want but from the facts that are available right now this looks like a money grab.

When did Fleury go to the NHLPA, a counselor and an organization? Also, when I met Theo Fleury, about 10 years ago, he was trying to sell me on a forex get rich quick scheme that was obviously a scam. I wouldn't be surprised if Fleury coming out was due to needing money or seeing it as way to make money off a book.

edit: I'll add that counselor denies even hearing of anything like this. So really until there is more evidence there really is no reason to believe this is anything more than a money grab.

No kidding? This is a public forum we all have different opinions. I for one am going with the NHLPA (these guys represent the players they aren't going to let NHL coaches just blindly abuse players), and The Physician/counselor and not the guy who came forward after he sees someone arrested hoping for a payday. If we see text messages that show misconduct I will reconsider my position.

did you expect to see the Hawks say" Yes the suit has merit, we expect to lose and are only wondering how much the Judge is going to fine us"?

There is a plethora of other things they could have said. You also have a Physician and NHLPA who were both made aware of this apparently and neither thought it was worth pursuing and then combine that with the guy only comes forward when he sees the guy was convicted of a crime and decides to sue. To me this looks like it's all about a pay day.

With the team having a solid core I would actually be ok with this

    2021 first unprotected with conditions

    2021 second

2022 first, if 2021 first is top 3 then it becomes 2023 second

    2022 second

Basically 2 firsts and 2 seconds or a top 3 and three seconds

They take Eriksson to make cap work

    We get Reinhardt

An offer sheet to get him would be in the 6.5 to 8 range and would cost a first, second and third, but we would need to unload cap and don't have a 2022 third.

This could potentially set up forward group

    Hoglander - Petersson - Boeser

    Pearson - Horvat - Reinhardt

    Gadjovich - Miller - Podkolzin

I know it's early to pencil Gadjovich in but having a heavy line like that would do wonders at wearing down the opposition and would be able to be sheltered with primarily neutral and ozone starts.

I know giving up the picks is a lot, that roster would be in tact for another 4 years and with the d moving forward looking like

    Hughes - free agent

    Schmidt - Myers

    Rathbone - Hamonic

    Juolevi

The team has a few years it could go without a first round pick

He's an average top 6 winger and a terrible centre. He isn't even worth a top 10 first round pick.

The Blackhawks, The counselor(who denies knowing of it), The NHLPA didn't do anything and then the accuser sees an article about this guy being convicted and decides to sue? Looks like someone just trying to get a payday. I don't buy that both a team counselor and the NHLPA both heard this and decided to "sweep" it under the rug. Sounds like what The Blackhawks are saying its a meritless lawsuit.
