You'll be waiting a while. He has the skill and size, but his mentality isn't focused enough. Virtanen seems like a late-boomer. Even though it's not the worst thing, us Canucks fans will have to be patient... :P We were patient with the Sedins, Edler, Hansen, Burrows, and more. The only player we've drafted who hit the ground running immediately was Kesler. Speed is the new size.

How many of us can say we've played 50+ NHL games by age 20? I've said this before but I'll say it again: Virtanen is a BC boy. Entitled or not, he's a humble guy with the right attitude. It's only a matter of time until all of us will be supporting him by repping that #18 jersey.

Kesler? Are you sure? He didn't even play a full season in the NHL until like his 3rd year. If Virt was drafted before Bo, people won't have high expectations for Virt and let him slowly develop. It is just that Bo was the only one in recent memory that hit the ground running immediately.

Anyways, a good video here about his memory of his friend who passed away a few years ago

I don't want to talk about this guy, like at all

All the frigging fun we made of Calgary for drafting Poiriere or howveer you spell it and passing over hometown boy Hunter and THIS happens?

Another center, another Linden frigging Vey?

I am making a serious knee jerk response here admittedly but what the shart farking hell is this crap?

I hope Shinkaruk Monahan and Gaudreau torch this team for the next decade every single game that we play.  Canucks fan for life or not this trade makes the Keenan years and the Messier signing look intelligent.

We traded our best offensive prospect for...another center, with marginal upside and the same statlines and rough size/grit as Linden frigging Vey.  And for those touting his AHL numbers, might I remind you that Vey is/was a ppg player in the AHL as was Clendenning.

Where are they now?  One is a scapegoat and one is not even on the team anymore.

    Think about it

And then on the flip side, why are you so high on Shink? He has good AHL numbers, might I remind you that Vey is/was a ppg player in the AHL as was Clendenning and also Shroeder too.  Where are they now? Think about it

  3. I think the past few games, he has improved in terms of positioning and being defensively sound.  He has a few rushes which ended up with good scoring chances or good shots.  I think he is being sheltered which is good and considering the fact that he has a huge bruise near his eye because of Hansen's shot, he did quite a good job today with his 8 minutes of ice time.  However, I did think his line warranted more ice time today because every time they were on the ice, they generated some chances.
