  1. Wow, PJ and the CBC guys are still going at it. Weekes just got called out for saying that Torts used to be able to get away with that stuff because he coached NY, but now that he coaches Vancouver that the league will discipline him. He was immediately called out and asked if he was insinuating that the refs and NHL are more eager to penalize the Canucks.

  2. 67.6 Disallowed Goal - A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats or directs the puck with his hand into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats or directs the puck and it is deflected into the net off any player, goalkeeper or official. When the puck enters the net on a clear deflection off a glove, the goal shall be allowed.

That last sentence says it all. If the puck is simply deflected off a glove, it is a good goal. We all saw in the replay that Hank readjusted his hand just BEFORE the puck hit him. That being the key word - that at the time the puck made contact with Henrik, he was, in terms of arm and hand movement, still. Therefore, it is a good goal.

  3. Every team goes thru slumps we just need to win this one tonight to have some confidence against the slumping flames

Dude. This isn't a slump. This has been all year. The times when we've been playing good has been whatever the opposite of a slump is.

  4. Wow, everyone here is pretty negative. I don't think our core players suck. Besides being in a slump, I think it has to do with the supporting cast.

It is clear to me, as it has been since the summer, that we are not trying to win this year. We are using this as a transition year.

MG is planning to make a push next year. The cap will rise, there will be a half-decent FA crop, we can get a better draft pick as a middler and make the big push when we have the flexibility.

I saw this coming. That's why he just went for bargains in the off season. See how our youth performs, our new coaching staff does, restock the cupboards a bit, more cap space and more options. Then go nuts.

What the hell does that even mean?

We are not trying to win because this is a transition year? What even is that?

I don't care if you're the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Buffalo Sabres. You play every game to win. There is no such thing as taking years off and waiting for next year.

And what kind of plan is that anyways? "Take this year off because the cap is going up and there's lots of free agents!" We'll guess what bud, we're not the only team in the league. This isn't NHL14 where you can force trades and signings. For every player we want, there will be other teams that want him more, can offer him more, or that HE wants to go to more.

So no, let's not write this year off because we'll sign all the free agents next year. That is not a plan. That is idiocy.

  5. There is nobody on this Canucks team with a good shot. Plain and simple. We score goals from hard work and second chances, but that only gets you so far. If every single one of our players were to cut inside and let go with their hardest shot between the circles, we might score once.

  6. The twins and Kesler aren't creating any offense. Hard to win games when your 3 best forwards do nothing..

I think that is our biggest issue... Offensively at least. Our role players aren't playing all that bad. Santorelli has good games, along with Kassian, Booth, Hansen, Sestito, etc. They aren't going to score 3 goals a night for us though. Heck, most "good" games those players have, they just end up missing the net 3 times.

Our big boys (Sedins, Kesler) are doing squat, and looking at the bigger picture, have been far under par for the entire year. The Sedins have been a waste of ice time lately, with their slow skating and complete lack of shooting ability. (How many times have you seen Danny in prime shooting position, only to pass or tap one lightly at the netminder?). And Kesler. Ohh, Kesler. If hockey were about gaining the blue line and then immediately wristing the puck at the goalie from half court, then I guess Kesler has figured it out. He doesn't set up, he doesn't take his time, he doesn't pass. He shoots from way outside and skates away.

  7. I know I won't, but I feel like I need to stop watching canucks games for a while. They're just not fun for me anymore. It's hard watching a team with seemingly no urgency, no push back, and more importantly (and becoming more and more evident) just not enough skill. It's like I keep watching the same team expecting different results.
