Longer frame = more leverage only if your position to use it. Like a fulcrum.  Or if shear mass is a determining factor to overall strength.

Mass x Acceleration = Force is the formula you should start with.

Well that's funny cause that is the biggest pile of rubbish.

Its geometry and physics which determines strength of an individual. Longer muscle and frame = greater leverage = greater strength. Holy crap dude everybody knows this!

You sound like your a WCB expert lol

Dude. Just stop.. That is literally science. Do you know what kinesiology is? Look it up, do some research. Then when you've completed a degree, became registered in multiple physical modalities, had literally thousands and thousands of hours of class time, and years of hands on experience working with everyone from 96 year old grandma's to professional sports team, you'll be even slightly qualified to debate me in the subject at hand.

    BAHAHAHAHALMAO

Muscle fiber types and concentration, how muscles are built, protein elements in the body and muscles, and literally most importantly, genetic predisposition.

Man do I ever regret attempting have a conversation with what I can only assume is a 6'5, 285 pound, 14 year old.

I don't know about anyone else here, but I see a very cute blond in a bikini.

Very cute indeed. And I appreciate you sticking to your area of expertise Alf. Witty lines and keen eyes for blondes. Keep on keeping on my friend.

And yes I am well aware that muscle length is what creates strength(simple engineering).

So are you trying to say that Tryamkin is shorter than Chara ?

If Tryamkin has muscles just as long as Chara's but with more bulk, then Tryamkin will be stronger. That is a fact.

And as someone who is 6"5" @ 285lbs and built like a brick $&!#e house I think I know what Im talking about as well :o

That is not a fact. Again, as someone who is literally a professional in the subject I'm trying to politely tell you, you are wrong. Also. Compare the pictures, I put no words in your mouth. You called one athletic and one lanky. Tell me what you see. 10349742_534531653323249_1184675929_n.jp

Have you seen the size of Tryamkin's arms and chest ? Chara is skinny guy compared to Nikita

Bulk does not equal strength. As someone who is quite literally an expert in muscles and how they work I can assure you that. I have seen Trys form, he's large indeed, but strength in hockey comes from core and legs. Chara has huge legs and is an incredibly powerful human. It's silly that you said otherwise.

I am really not trying to harsh your vibe my friend, I'm just not a huge fan of making accusation with zero evidence. I'm also incredibly excited about Try, but Chara is an elite human for his size and it would be a miracle if Try comes close to that.

I don't think I need to gear down lol. Tryamkin already moves much better than Chara ever has! If this kid can make the transition he has every bit of potential to surpass Chara as a player. Even Nikita himself says he doesn't wanna be compared to Chara because he thinks he will be much better than Chara ever was. I don't doubt he will be better after watching the guy move. He skates just as well as anyone else and can sure get moving in a hurry! Something Chara really struggled with for quite some time at first. He's only what 19-20 years old so Ya Im pretty stoked!  ::D

Just another solid pick by JB :)

Oh and if you look at Chara body build type compared to Tryamkin its like night and day. Tryamkin has a very athletic muscled build vs Chara's lanky skinny build. Looking at Nikita I would swear he has to weigh at least 280 lbs. Chara gets his strength from the shear size of his frame and length of his muscles where as Nikita has that plus he has a very athletic muscular build in addition.

I think its pretty easy to see that if Tryamkin can bring his game to the NA rink then he will be better in a lot of ways which is super good news for us!

Well he definitely has the desire. I remember watching Chara when he came into the league. Chara was a very awkward skater and had mobility issues. But he worked hard and made his stamp in the NHL. Tryamkin is Sooo much further ahead than Chara was so I have no problem saying that Tryamkin will be better.  Tryamkin is already more mobile than Chara ever was, and he is pretty good at clearing the front of the net lol he's like a bull dozer lol

What was Chara so good at that Tryamkin wont be?

Watching Tryamkin highlights makes me think he's close to being as good as Chara right now let alone after a few more years of development.

I was watching a clip of his pre draft interview with JB last night and found it interesting that he told them in the interview that he planned on coming to the NHL after playing 2 more years in the KHL. Looks like everything is going as planned.

Gear down big rig. Chara in his prime was one of the most dominant defenders in the NHL and easily one of the best big men to ever play hockey. Chara has slowed considerably and is not the same player he was a few years ago. If Tryamkin ever gets to be even as good as Chara is now,  we will be incredibly lucky.

I worry about other distractions, such as the female persuasion. From what I've heard on social media, he's quite the handsome fellow, and he's a hockey player. That's double trouble.

Then as I say that. he splits the d and charges for the net. ok 1 positive.  Hasn't looked nearly hungry enough though.

Agreed. The huge ice should be his bread and butter. Looks really timid out there so far.

I'm in the camp of keeping gaunce as far away from the Vancouver titanucks as possible. Looks like Virtanen, McCann, and horvat will all see their development hindered in this muddled, apathetic, borderline toxic environment.

This is pure conjecture, but my prediction is that Linden steps away from the team within the next two years. I'd be surprised if Willie makes it past the upcoming draft. Let's keep the youngsters away from the "big" club until they settle into some semblance of orginizational stability.

    No chance Linden jumps ship.

  12. I would love to see Virtanen create some chemistry with Shinkaruk. Those guys seem like they could work really together and will both be making a huge push for the team next year.

Shinkaruks Style seems to be shifty and sneaky, with Jake out there all players on the ice would have to be watching their backs to not get crushed and could create room for Shink.

  13. After the deadline I hope to see:

    Sedin Sedin Burrows

    Baertschi Sutter Virtanen

    Shinkaruk Horvat Hansen

    Gaunce McCann Dorsett

    Hutton Tanev

    Edler Bartkowski

    Sbisa Pedan

Trade Vrbata and Hamhuis for 1sts

Trade Higgins and Prust for a 2nd and a 3rd

I hope they've learned their lesson about hanging onto expiring UFA contracts. It does this team no good to pass up long term gain for short term playoff success.

I can totally see this happening. Linden has stated if we can not resign, we have to trade pending UFAs to better the team. Though, I do see Prust being resigned.

  14. Looking more and more likely Virtanen is set up to fail his 9-game trial and WD gets his wish to be reunited with his lover boy Vey.... very sad if true...  we would rather see Virtanen's speed and big hits.... poor kid never had a fair chance to shine since preseason.

He has had the same chance as every rookie under WD. Horvat excelled,  McCann is excelling,  and Virt just hasn't yet.

  15. Oh, I get it now. My apologies for the slowness on the uptake :)

Yes I do see top end speed and acceleration as two different skills. I'm not a physics guy, so I differ proper explanation to those types. From my simple POV acceleration is the time it takes to get to top speed. Guance takes more time to get to his top speed than I like, which hurts him, especially getting to spots which are close to him. This (I see) making it harder for him to effect the play in those circumstances. This was similar to criticism of Horvat - fast enough, but not quick enough. Horvat leaned out and did specific exercises to maximize his natural abilities. I'm thinking Guance needs to lean out, and do similar exercise - if he's not already. Some athletes are just naturally quicker than others.

The game Gaunce plays doesn't call for the kinda of 'quickness' you speak of. He has phenomenal position from what I have seen. Being smart trumps being quick 9/10. Gaunce isn't a top 6, but he's a future 3rd, and a great one at that.
