If they love him that much

good for them for sticking to their guns

Button calls him a top pair D man

plus he is going to a great NCAA program

I bet he is with VAN after 2 yrs in college

    I love the pick

Looks like I’ll be watchin’ a bit of college hockey over the next few years. Quite enjoyed following Quinn at Michigan before he joined us.

One of the first things he said was that he was very driven in wanting to make sure that picking him ends up being a great decision for the Canucks.

He is also taking the  NCAA route and their coach already is looking forward to working with him.

Yeah, this sounds very promising. I don’t expect many, if any, parallels to OJ.

Juolevi was a consensus top 10 pick and was projected to be very similar to Willander in terms of type of defenseman.

Let’s just hope that Willy has a work ethic and a level of dedication that OJ never displayed.

Chicago scored huge with Bedard but with Oliver Moore they hit the jackpot twice today

    Great pick for the Hawks.

Chicago, hate them all you want, have another couple of bookend talents to build on now, just like Kane and Toews. They are likely heading towards being another powerhouse in a handful of years. Kinda sickening.

If anything this draft proved that we had no chance of ever getting Bedard and that out late run changed absolutely nothing.

Nah, if we finished bottom 5 we at least had a legit chance. Vancouver must be running pretty short of tinfoil with all of these conspiracy types in the thread. If the thing was rigged, he’d be going to Arizona in another Bettman attempt to save that sad sack situation.

Same direction Gillis took. And he was able to retool the supporting cast around an existing core to give us the best clubs we’ve ever had. This management is very much doing the same thing. We will be great again just like those great Gillis teams. Next season we will be over 100 points.

    Your homerism knows no bounds.

While I have pretty low expectations for McDonough, anytime we sign a prospect with potential to the Organization it is a good thing.  Hope he gets some looks with us down the stretch here.

This is the right view to take in my opinion. His skating, which looks just ok vs. his college peers will look less so in the NHL. But, the more prospects we have in the cupboard the better. Apart from his skating the kid has other, very worthy tools applicable to the NHL.

They get this done, that’s a feather in the cap of this management group…who slowly, so slowly, are emerging from my personal doghouse.

I hadn't thought about it that way. Bruce said a lot of good things about JT but yeah, you could be right.

He probably knew very well JT would not react well at all to public criticism. And let’s face it, he’s one prickly pear.

Look at other members of our “core”….none of them had the sudden uptick in quality of play once Bruce was fired like JT did. Character wise, I’d put EP far above. And people think JT is captain material. It could be entertaining….in the way some people find car crashes entertaining I suppose.

These are my thoughts currently. But I’m open to having my mind changed.

  9. I think the issues I have with Miller are mostly character ones, as I generally like his game. To dog it so bad at times under Boudreau, then suddenly flip a switch and work so much harder under Tocchet….hard to really buy into a guy who might have a bit of “coach killer” in him. This is in addition to all other things swirling about in terms of whether he’s liked by his teammates, etc. People in his corner tout his “fiery” persona, whereas I’m more likely to view him a bit of a jack ass.

Not sure I’m especially keen on 7 more years of his act. And thus it’s why I wouldn’t be too shook if he’s gone today. Put the chances of it happening at around 20% though, so I’d better start trying to reconcile my feelings with this player, eh? It does seem as though he’s been on his “best behaviour” under Tocchet. But what about the next coach? And the way we go through coaches, the one after that?

Honestly can't see them trading JT as that would mean they have no proven center depth after petey.

The Hronek deal has set the timeline for the retool to be completed by next year and this really kills that as we're not getting a C as good as JT back without giving up big time.

If we win the lottery however, that's a different story.

We just about won the lottery - well we kinda did, got 2nd -  just now on TSN when they simulated the actual ping pong ball draft lottery process.
