  1. Blackhawks 1 - 5 Canucks F - Game 51 - 01.23.10 The Canucks got their chance to prove to the rest of the teams that they're among the leagues elite. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews were in town and they were set for a showdown against the Vancouver Canucks. Right off the puck drop, Ryan Kesler and Mason Raymond had a chip on their shoulder as they were flying all over the ice. After a successful penalty kill, the Canucks picked up the pace which got them rewarded. Ryan Kesler's pass to the front of the net found Mikael Samuelsson stick as he made no mistake to make it 1-0 for the Canucks. Shortly after, Alex Burrows along with the Sedin Twins got involved as Henrik tapped in the loose puck to make it 2-0. The Canucks did not stop there as they kept on pushing to extend their lead. Christian Ehrhoff's shot on net resulted in a rebound which the puck landed on Steve Bernier's stick. Bernier took his time and found the hole over Niemi's shoulder to give the Canucks a 3-0 lead. Ryan Kesler had not forgotten the cheap shot that Andrew Ladd got in on him during last years playoffs. Tonight was payback time as the two went at it. Early in the third period, Jonathan Toews scored to give the Hawks some hope. On that very next shift, the Sedins put that hope to rest as Henrik scored the 4-1 goal. Roberto Luongo was extremely sharp as he stopped 44 shots. His biggest save of the night came against Cam Barker where Luongo made a outstanding glove save. In the late stages of the game, brother Henrik returned the favor as he assisted on Daniels 5-1 goal. The Canucks defeated the well rested Blackhawks as they're closing in on the 14 game road trip. Next up on the schedule is the franchise cousins, the Buffalo Sabres. Team Canada's Roberto Luongo will get to face off against team USA's Ryan Miller. It'll be a showdown you won't want to miss, Canucks face the Sabres on Monday at 7:00PM on SportsNet-HD.
  2. Stars 3 - 4 Canucks F - Game 50 - 01.21.10 After a nail-biting victory over the Oilers, the Canucks step up their game to defeat the Dallas Stars in regulation. The Stars continue to struggle on the road as they dropped their tenth straight to the Vancouver Canucks. The game turned out to be a physical affair as both teams lost a couple of players in the process. Former Canuck coach Marc Crawford gave the nod to Alex Auld to start the game despite having a healthy Marty Turco on the Bench. Very much like the previous night, Mason Raymond was flying all over the ice and snapped his ten game goalless drought versus the Stars: The Swedish Olympian Loui Eriksson scored the game tying goal late in the first period. The Stars did not sit back as Toby Petersen scored a shorthanded goal to put his team ahead 2-1. Alex Auld did a fantastic job on stopping any Canuck chances, but his stick handling skills let him down as he coughed up the puck to Alex Burrows for the 2-2 goal. With the German media in town, Christian Ehrhoff puts on a show as he scores a beauty to put the Canucks ahead 3 to 2. Kyle Wellwood was feeling the heat as he came close to sitting out the Oilers game. He used that as motivation to score a clutch third period goal which turned out to be the game winner. The Canucks stepped up their game in the third to grind out a victory against a desperate Dallas team. Well done guys The Blackhawks are in the town on Saturday in what could be a major test for the Canucks to see where they stand along the leagues elite.
  3. Canucks 3 - 2 Oilers F - Game 49 - 01.20.10 All I heard on the radio was how the Oilers had been struggling and they were looking to bounce back against the Canucks. It turned out that the reports were correct and the Oilers came out with a ton of pressure. The Canucks players did not take the Oiler lightly as they fought right back. Halfway into the first period, Sam Gagner took advantage of a weak line change as he shot the puck past Roberto Luongo for the 1-0 Oilers lead. The hottest line in the NHL teamed up once again as Alex Burrows scored the tying goal late in the first period: In the second, Sheldon Souray rifled the puck by Roberto to take back the lead for the Oilers. From here on, the game slowed down as both teams struggled to get any attacks going. With only four minutes to go in regulation, Andrew Cogliano hooked Mikael Samuelsson which resulted in a late two minute powerplay for the Canucks. Already being 1 for 2 on the powerplay, the Sedins won the face off and got the puck to Sami Salo. Salo made no mistake as he ripped it home to tie the game at two. During overtime, Mason Raymond used his speed to draw a tripping penalty. The twins made no mistake as Daniel Sedin scored the overtime winner to give Vancouver its 29th win of the season. The Canucks pulled through when it mattered most and now they'll head home to face the Dallas Stars on Thursday night.
  4. Penguins 2 - 6 Canucks F - Game 48 - 01.16.10 After a controversial week, The Canucks show up and blow out the Stanley Cup Champions 6 to 2. It could have got far worse for the Penguins, but there was no need to run up the score with the entire country watching. Marc-André Fleury and Brent Johnson were forced to sit this game out due to injuries. John Curry started the game and was shortly pulled in the second period after giving up five goals. Alexander Pechurski who is forth on the Penguins goalie depth chart took over and he put on a clinic. The 19 year old Russian only allowed one goal and earned himself the third star of the game. That was pretty much the only positive note for the Penguins. Even Sidney Crosby was held off the score sheet thanks to Willie Mitchell's defensive play. The rest of the night belonged to the Canucks as they Came back to take over the game in just a couple of minutes. Henrik Sedin showed why he's NHLs leading scorer by banking the puck in off of John Curry to even the score at one: After being trashed on National Television by Ron Maclean's biased journalism, Alex Burrows proved why he's one of the top players in the NHL. In no shape or form should Alex ever be compared to the likes of Avery, Downey and Cooke. Watch how Burr steals the puck away from Gonchar and flies down the ice to score Vancouver's third shorthanded goal of the season: The second line of Raymond, Kesler & Samuelsson teamed up to score the 3-1 goal for the Canucks: Jannik Hansen got a couple of opportunities to play with the Twins and it paid off as he scored the forth goal for the good guys: This video displays the three I's of the Sedins: Intensity, Integrity & intelligence. Henrik's pass to a pinching Willie Mitchell catches the Penguins off guard as Willie sneaks the puck through Curry's pads to end his night: Ryan Kesler's dominance on home ice continues as he scores the sixth goal for the Vancouver Canucks: After tomorrow nights skills competition, The Canucks will get two days off to avoid any further media distractions. They'll be back on the road on Wednesday to face the Edmonton Oilers in Rexall place.
  5. Canucks 2 - 5 Wild F - Game 47 - 01.13.10 The Canucks were hoping to bounce back from the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unNPFNXNsJ0, but the game did not go as planned. The Wild ended up scoring on their first two shots in the first period. Half way through the period, the Canucks picked up the pace as they were getting lots of shots on Niklas Backstrom. With 1:48 to go in the first period, Ryan Kesler dug out the puck and scored his 12th goal of the season to make it a one goal game. Thanks to Keslers goal, the Canucks gained some momentum going into the second period. Roberto Luongo did a solid job shutting the door and allowed his team to even up the score. with 4:16 to go in the second period, Alex Burrows tips in Sami Salos point shot to tie the game at two. This was the ninth goal in just five games for Alex Burrows, The man is on fire. A tie game after two is a great place to be for the road team, But the Canucks failed to capitalize. Minnesota Wild continued to pour on the pressure as they scored three times in the third period to win the game with the final score of 5 to 2. However, The Canucks did not go down easy. Darcy Hordichuk challenged Derek "The Boogeyman" Boogard to a fight: Tanner Glass took on Shane Hnidy: Unfortunetlly, Alex Bolduc had to leave the game as he re-injured his shoulder in a bout with John Scott. The Canucks get two days off to regroup and face the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins along with the Olympian Sidney Crosby and the rest of the crew on Saturday night. The game will be in GM Place at 7:00pm on CBC-HD.
  6. UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has withdrawn from his upcoming title defense against Shane Carwin due to illness, UFC President Dana White told Yahoo Sports on Monday.
  7. Cant wait for Hendo Vs Franklin II :D
  8. It was truelly amazing to see Henderson KO Bisping, couldn't have asked for anything more. The CDN champ GSP retained his title with a dominant performance over the pitbull Thiago Alves. Brock finally got his payback and it was nice to see him go out of control after the fight. John Fitchs technical wrestling paid off as he earned his 10th UFC victory. I believe that Alan Belcher got ripped off, that fight was his and whoever that scored the fight 30-27 should be fined. went 4 for 5 (hendo, gsp, lesnar, fitch) on this great event
  9. IMO it should have been a draw: Round 1: 10-8 Diego Round 2: 10-9 Guida Round 3: 10-9 Guida I don't see how Sanchez won Round 3!
  10. Sadollah's second UFC fight was scheduled to be against Nick Catone at UFC 91. However, due to a leg infection, Sadollah withdrew from the match. A replacement for Sadollah could not be found so the match was scrubbed from the card. The match was rescheduled for February 7th, 2009 at UFC Fight Night 17. On January 23, Sadollah was, again, forced to withdraw from the fight due, this time to a broken clavicle.
