Still there is a greater chance that his value only diminishes up to the next deadline.  That’s just the reality.

It really isn't. Teams pay high prices for high caliber rentals every trade deadline if they think it will put them over the top.

Doesn’t matter. The way they think they have until the deadline to trade him is risky and stupid and a distraction for the team. So many things that could go wrong by waiting. I think they screwed up by not moving him earlier. You think teams knowing that the Canucks are under pressure to get a deal done at the deadline are going to pony up their asking price? He could be injured by then. It doesn’t make sense.

Well I for one don't want them to accept just anything at this point in time just for the sake of trading him. There is approx 7 months until the trade deadline, the fact people in this can base are impatient doesn't mean we should just accept what ever is offered.

Unfortunately, this is a trade that the Canucks have never really had the balls to do. We have always kept our players because we love them too much, rather than get a good return. Matthew Tkachuk was worth a lot, but there were rumours that he wasn't going to re-sign. Miller should have been traded for a king's ransom.

The difference here is Miller will be 30 when an extension kicks in. Tkachuk is 24, this deal will be finished when he's 32, still in his prime, or just finishing.

Unless they sign somebody like Kadri, am I the only one that sees the Flames' forward line as being quite a bit weaker than last year's? They will miss Gaudreau's creativity and Tkachuk's pest skills. I loved Huberdeau in the regular season, but he was terrible in the playoffs.

No, I think their forward line-up is significantly weaker. Huberdeau is great, but Sasha Barkov was the main driver on Panthers.

The flames just lost their two drivers, and they won't be replicating last season if this is the forward group they go into the season with. Though lots of time left in the offseason, and they have some good D they could trade to bolster their forwards.

And they got exposed in the playoffs because the line was made up with gutless cowards who weren't willing to do what was needed to win.

I hate Gaudreau and Tkachuk as well, and think they are cry babies and gutless too.. but they weren't the reason the Flames $&!# the bed against the Oilers.. that one mostly lands on Markstrom. He couldn't beat the Oilers while here, and still can't. They own him.

They weren't a contender to begin with having multiple locker room cancers in the midget, the hunchback, and the turtle.  They got rid out of 2/3; all they need to do is suspend Lucic without pay and they've taken care of a lot of the character issues.  The experiment of a 1st line without a single real man on it failed and they are lucky this happened.  Sadly, this offseason made them closer to being an actual NHL quality franchise as a result of this trade.

Except they had the best line in hockey last year, which is a huge reason they were as succesful as they were in the reg season..

They still have 11 mil in cap space and extra assets to trade.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re going hard for Kadri right now.

They might be going hard for Kadri, but I believe he already declined going there. Not that people can't change their minds.

More likely he just had other teams he was less willing to be traded to.

Unless Calgary is backing up the Brinks truck I don’t know how Huberdeau doesn’t go to free agency.

Yeah, I honestly don't see him signing an extension. Obviously I have no idea what I'm talking about, just a feeling.

I get why people want this to happen,  but who's going to take those 20+ minutes/night?  RHD with size and plays considerable minutes with some edge - don't tell me Burroughs or Dermott are filling this role.  If this happens another move needs to be made.

I would actually say 2 moves for elusive RHD would have to be made if we do trade Myers. One to play with Hughes and one to play with OEL..

I truly hope that we aren't in on Klingberg and thinking of switching OEL to the right.

It’s these kinds of deal why (IMHAO) we should trade Bo.  No way No signs for less that 7 mil x 8 years.  And that’s just too much for him.  Honestly, we need to trade both Bo and Miller (like Sakic did with ROR and ?Duchene) and rebuild.

If we trade Bo and Miller, we won't have Petey in 2 years either. He already said he wants to play for a competitive team. We trade 2/3 of our best offensive players to do full re-build then we will not be competitive when Petey's deal is up.

And if we trade both of them, might as well go all in and trade Demko and really tank it up.

What else is new half have already given up :ph34r:typical

I haven't given up at all. I trust this management, and what they are doing..

But if they traded Miller for Petry, Anderson and a 2nd, that would be one of the worst trades I have ever seen and I would think they are super incompetent. Now I know that this will never happen, so I don't have to worry.
