    Fun fact:

Noah Juulsen was drafted lower and two years earlier than Cal Foote. Got decimated by injuries. Yet has more points than Cal Foote in Tampa.

So maybe we got a diamond in the rough in Noah.

    Foote: 68 GP 7 points (1 goal 6 assists)

    Juulsen: 55 GP 10 Points (2 goals 8 assists)

I've liked Juulsens game and think he can carve out a role here.

A diamond in the rough, you say? Maybe a Juul of a player? I actually call him 'Jewel' seems to fit even more now! Haha

  2. Extremely sad news. As a die hard Raiders fan, learning about John Madden was a requirement.

An absolute legend and pioneer who helped make football what it is today. Some great Raiders reads such as 'Badasses' that highlight the type of coach Madden was.

The Raiders were known in the 70s for employing the NFL cast-offs, guys like Lyle Alzado and John Matuzak, John Madden was no different, he didn't look like Landry or Lombardi, he was a chubby, long haired, former Offensive lineman head coach, but he got the most out of all of his players. An excerpt from 'Badasses' (not verbatim) but to the effect of John Madden didn't care what you did from Tuesday-Saturday as long as you showed up and played your ass off on Sunday, he'd do anything for his players and they showed the same respect by being one of the winningest teams of the 70s/80s.

The difference is Maurice is a quality guy. And he clearly is more self-aware. And understands what's best for the team. Probably hurts to walk away. But you have to respect the guy for making the best call he can.

Like Danny Glover in any Danny Glover movie, maybe he felt he was 'Gettin' too old for this $%^@'

  4. I love it, it was no secret under Green/Baumer that all you had to do was pressure the D and they would cough it up the half-wall or straight up lose the puck battle down low.

Like Jockitch says re:forechecking pressure, it makes the opponent play more passive, while the flip isn't used every play, like football....it's established early so that the opponent has to respect the fact the ice might be stretched out with an aerial pass, thus creating a normal team breakout with more d zone/neutral zone space.

Boudreau is a hockey guy, love the addition.

Jokes aside, I think the Canucks need to trade for (or pick off the waiver wire) some more physical players who provide that type of game. The former clown of a head coach seemed to not value that at all.

IMO, these games are essentially an audition to see how Boudreau can and should deploy certain players.

I have a feeling he is going to request certain changes within this area that he feels don't 'fit'... Move out some pieces for a bit more sandpaper and grit for more of a crash and bang bottom 6.
