Teams are still shy to draft shorter players. Look how far Rossi fell this draft

Rossi is going to be a stud. Wild are very lucky to have gotten him.

I think if we end up signing Hamonic not only will our D core be better than last year, we will also have more depth on both sides.  Benn would be the 7th D swing man on both sides and we'd have Rafferty, Brisebois, Chatfield and Rathbone as defensive depth down in Utica or on the taxi squad.  I don't think we need to bring in anyone else at this point.

    Hughes   Myers

    Edler      Schmidt

    Juolevi   Hamonic

    Benn

    Brisebois    Rafferty

    Rathbone   Chatfield

"Hey boys, I can swing and play it both ways."

    Hamonic being on a PTO says that's a lie:lol:

I don't get the Myers hate, he wants to be here, makes the team and players around him better, took less to sign here, a giant righty d man.

Look at when Myers came back vs Vegas and squished tuch a few times and suddenly tuch wasn't skating circles around the canucks d zone.

I'm of the clothe that righty d play on the right side and lefty d men play the left.

So, I see it as the left D stack up like,

    Hughes

    Schmidt

    Edler

    OJ

    Benn

Schmidt has probably the most experience playing his off side of the group, so he slides over to the right side.

Edler would be a candidate, but leave gramps alone !

    Hughes Myers

    Edler Schmidt

    OJ Hamonic

TBF to Hamonic - (1) it's likely a deal is already agreed but just needing to wait for Ferland to go on LTIR and (2) Covid-19 kinda messed up the whole money dollars situation so i don't think in a normal year he'd be a PTO-quality player (a la Peter Schaefer bless him).

Having said that, I would take Myers over Hamonic all day.

Except those guys were higher picks so the disappointment was higher.

I compared him to Hornqvist simply because Hornqvist was taken as the last pick in his draft.

Costmar not making it as a 7th round pick would be expected. No one can deny the early returns though.

Yes. Not addressed particularly at your comment but more generally that despite a very promising WJC tournament and a great "early returns", still a ways to go for the young man until he makes it.

I have to say this defence with Hamonic is the best in the Canadian division  and way better defence then last year...

    Schmidt  is better then Tanev

Hamonic is much better then Stetcher...

Schmidt lead Vegas in ice time in 2020 playoffs a top # 2 D man solid 200 foot game and play PP, PK  can log 25 mins per game, real leader..

Hamonic 30 yrs old, 6'2 very gritty solid guy second on Flames with ice time last year ...For sure a # 4 D man great great addition for injuries..

    Hughes -- Edler

    Schmidt - Myers

Hamonic -- Juolevi or Rathbone,, Benn, Rafferty

Could switch Hamonic to second pairing if you want a different look...Gives Green lots of different pairings...

Would like to see Edler under 21 minutes.. So switching Edler and taking pressure off him prevent injuries for 34 yr old....

Switching Myers and Hamonic  at times will work also...

    Very excited with this defence....

Also a healthy Juolevi > Fanta

If Hamonic is only a year out from being a stud then I don't believe he's done.

Play him with Hughes, that'll help him. Look how beneficial Huggy was for Tanev, could be the same for Hamonic.

Sign Hamonic to a one year deal. Play him with Hughes. Inflate value . Let Calgary sign him for $18 million dollars the following season.

    Game. Set. Match.

    The next Patric Horqvist.

You could have told me I was watching a 2nd round pick play in that tournament and I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

So great to be adding these high value picks late.

True - but also he could be the next Cole Cassels and lesser extent Gustav Forsling so whilst his WJC experience very positive, don't think we can say he's the next Hornqvist just yet.
