Probably has something to do with Delta still being out there.
As well not ever child of a player or partner is vaxxed and I'm some have family with serious health issues living with them.
For that reason alone I'd suggest it's imperative that covid positive players not be allowed to play while contagious
Once covid is actually the same ad rhe flu then I'd agree to treat it as such.
I know I'd refuse to work with someone who knows they are positive and came to work....
I fall into the group of having grandkids to young to vaccinate and until the risk from cov8d is the actual same as the common colder flu I'd be evoking wcb right to refuse unsafe work

This is so ridiculous. I'm really glad the NHL going to stop testing players that have no symptoms.
And so is the NHL after the all star game
Exception being when crossing the border all must be tested
And of course the NFL has moved that way .... they don't have to face it till June 2022 and by then I'd hope this is all in the rear view mirror

Boris is going full on Trump hoping to empower the last of his supporter base. At least he is giving most people 7 days notice that they now are purgable commidities for the disposible pleausre of the anti crowd.
He should at least give the same 7 day notie that anyone unvaxxed by choice will no longer get free healthcare if they ontract covid. That would be fair - if the vaxinated have to take on the risk from unxvaxxed by the complete re opening then why should they also ahve to pay the bills of the uncvaxxed.
His goverments choice of words like to stop criminilizing those that dont wear masks etc demonstrate that is no about medically based decisions rather dog whistling to people he can count on to idol worship him for these moves
This will backfire horribly im afraid ...... I get it that onces this variant has run its course that its time to start living with covid and finding ways forward .... but to remove all saftey measures at once is insane
Look for Kenney to pull this stunt as well and doug ford to be close behind. Like pre teen school fads cons dont want to be the last cool kid to wear the new styles

A major grocery chain is limiting the number of customers allowed in its British Columbia stores "until further notice" in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The anti groups have targeted stores for rallies and to openly try bullying customers to ditch masks.
Make no mistake the anti crowd is anti business and anti worker
The ramifications is places like this running so short on staff that rhey need to take action now just to keep enough staff to stay open
I don't care If someone is anti what ever ...... obeying the mask and safety rules keeps others safe and helps keep workers safe.
If you don't want to follow the rules atleast don't hurt workers and owners by causing them to miss more work. Stay away
For save on to do this on their own it should tell you how bad the sick calls are getting

This is why I'm not so sure drafting BPA is the answer. Drafting by need to me is different than drafting by position.
Defencemen, and Centre's seem to be at a premium. They also tend to get you the best return. I think we should be drafting on best return. That way if they don't work out. There should still be a need for such a player. And you get a decent or even return back. Just my 2 cents for whatever 2 cents is worth.
Agreed..... we can only fit in so many 2nd and 3rd line forwards. Average 2/3 line forwards are easily available bottom 2 defense that might become top 4 ( and top 4 d ) are.hard to come by and will cost you dearly
I don't mind that they drafter best available but they should have flipped.them for positions we actually need.
-
the canucks struggle in large part because of poor asset management.
we have let players walk instead of getting something in return , we have drafted better of late but other than demko seem to always draft the best player available instead of filling the need. This isnt a bad stragedy but instead of turning that best player available for actual needs we keep putting the round peg into the square hole and praying it will work
it will take time to build this team right and assemble all the pieces. We need to be ok with trading a few players that we all think are the heart and soul...... start filling out the team with what it needs. And no more letting tradeable players walk for nothing ..... as much as I hated seeing tanev , edler and jacob leave i hated more knowing what we could have got at the trade deadline for them. Hockey is a businuess and in businuess you cant personalize every businuess decision

...but don't you think it might be better to offload $7,500,000.00 to get a very good player "NOW" rather than wait 6-9 years to maybe/possibly see him develop into a better player like the Sedins? That amount of Cap space freed up NOW would open up major possibilities for us - Sooner rather than Later.
You are very much over valuing what we could get for him currently
2 years ago he would have gotten us a first and a top 6 ...... in this current situation we would at best get a second and no cap retained - most likely major cap.retention and another teams.reclemation project
I like EP and do think he can be fixed but at this moment his value has.fallen dramatically

What do we do wait till he has no value? He has gotten worse every year he has played.
Ep has no positive trade value at this point due to his new contract
Trading him would only net.us cap.space with nothing of value in return. It is not the time to trade him at all
This has spanned 2 seasons so can't be considered a slump.... but he has had good nhl level success so skills are not the issue.
I just hope they can get to the actual issue be it confidence , anxiety , a former injury or illness what ever it is.... and get him back on back on track
Maybe it's finding the right player fir him.... what ever it is
Unlike players that go completely bust EP does not fit that mold. He is not a one season and done and has had excellent nhl level.success so it's not a case of junior star that never makes the big jump
The only players that they should consider trading are those that don't fit rhe team going forward or pending UFA's they don't intent on signing or that have said they want to move on .....asset management which we didn't have under Benning
I agree many of the teams problems flow from green and Benning but not all. There are a few players that probably shouldn't be here and a few additional we need to fill out the team
In a cap world.it takes are years to make those changes.

To get to the meat of the matter. I got a call from my employer saying that I am a close contact and potentially exposed to a co worker who reported developing Covid 19 symptoms overnight.
I share a household with an elderly family member part of the identified high risk group.
I am fully double vaccinated and sanitize as best I can through out the day and wear a mask except when showering, sleeping or eating or going to the bathroom.
I have made sure not to have physical contact outside my immediate household for the last 2 years and I have been making only essential trips outdoors for groceries and gas. I have not traveled, have not had any friends or relatives over to my house.
I have canceled and pushed back any non urgent appointments.

And the one story out of the UK that has Tucker Carlson all excited ..... viagra.
It may be a hard pill to swallow ..... er or the other way round..... but pot and viagra as treatment for covid may get traction ..... although not an actual cure I'm sure for some it will catch on lol

Oh, Canada.
The cheers and applause as we sink deeper and deeper is the truly troubling part. There was scene like this in one of the Star Wars movies I seen when I was a younger man, right now it keeps playing in my head.
I realize this comment will be picked apart and laid bare, that is fine. Still won't change the darker tone that our once great country has taken on over the last couple years. I fear for what the future will look like for my daughter and her generation.
To some extent I agree. The anti movement is a very small minority but due to being the loudest gets their message out
It is sad how the democratic values of Canada have been damaged by the anti crowd that demand freedom of consequences for their choices and further demand that the majority must be the ones to pay the price
Was a time.in our country that if a majority voted on something or demanded it that the will of the people was respected
Now politicians not wanting to offend any possible voters have gotten weak and play both sides of the fence
Each time bad numbers come out or more restrictions are announced the anti crowd is fast to.turn to social media to cry that our democracy is broken , it's trynny , it's fascist , it's divisive ( pick one or more and they always use those points ). The real reason.they do is they are afraid the majority of people will start asking the really tough questions like why they feel.they don't have to pull their own weight anymore and why they feel so entitled as to make others take on their risks. And more importantly just what in democracy is broken when a minority is asked to do their part ? Is that what the anti crowd feels is trynny ? Beats me
I look back at our homesteaders who had a real.healthy mistrust of authority but always did their part. I can't help but feel sad we have let this generation become so entitled... yet am reminded why we should all be thankful they fought the 2 world wars for us. This generation wouldn't last a day in a global war

Mostly working and never, ever being asked for my vaccine papers. Some kids didn't take vaccines. No consequences. I presumed I would not need to take them if I didn't want to.
That would be great. Flu vaccines are voluntary with most people presently not seeing the need to take them. Annual or twice a year covid shots will be mandatory.
Some jobs such military, police.and health have always had vaccine mandates
Other jobs may have never had them and may not in the future. Many field jobs now require flu shots yearly as well as covid shots at this time
But your correct you could if born here go your whole life without any vaccines and for many jobs never require it as well
For most of the viruses it's just your health your risking. But for some viruses it's others health your forcing them to share your risk
People that don't care about another soul are not bothered by this. Which is why I'm thankful those that defend us , police us and heal and care for us all do the right thing and get vaccinated. Any that decide no get to pick new carrers and with good reason

You can't wholeheartedly say Justin Trudeau and every Canadian main stream network he's payed off, the World Health Organization, FDA, Bilderberg group, Rockefeller Foundation, CNN, have your best interest in mind. It's these beuracrats convincing you that you and I are a walking biohazard. Now when you inevitably get sick, they will blame me, saying I was the cause of your sickness. NO, the mutation of the spike protein was the cause. I mean we can argue all day, but I have no ill wishes for any of you. We literally haven't been able to go to any sporting event and half the league is having covid. Soccer players are suffering heart attacks and going in to cardiac arrest at alarming rates. for this to be true Justin Trudeu woould have to be the best , skilled, planning , leader in the history of our planet

thats pretty questionable to make that link. Under the Libs the corp tax rate went from 13.5 % to 11%. Horgan has held it at 12% for 5 years. Corporate taxes are actually a pretty small part of BC govt revenue: https://www.bcbc.com/insights-and-opinions/where-does-the-money-come-from-the-b-c-governments-top-revenue-sources
So you want to move everyone into provincially managed care? So I guess you won't mind being separated from your spouse if need be?
Roy Romanow (yes that Romanow) said a long time ago that private vs. public is a false argument. We pay either way. What matters is the quality of delivery.
I've seen no evidence that publicly run seniors care is any better, in fact you could argue its worse and often cruel when they separate spouses to find placements.
Taking away private options for seniors care is not needed. What we need is a better auditing system to ensure all facilities are up to standard.
We already have a first available bed rule that splits couples. That's because beds are block funded and health authorities have little say on who goes into those beds
If we treated care facilities as we do hospitals then we would have greater control to keep senior couples together and keep seniors in their own communities
Seniors being forced to take a bed in a another community is just as horrible as it separates them from family and friends. This happens as those people who need a funded bed must are what's made available. This is happening now
And we already have the auditing system. The seniors advocate releases.these reports
We already know the total hours of care per day is less in most private sites. We know it and nothing changes
The extra funding didn't fix it - it didn't come with the needed strings attached to sufficiently increase staffing

1 hour ago, JM_ said:sorry but unionizing all health care jobs isn't some quick fix. Adding more union jobs does nothing to innovate the system on its own.
Yes these things happened under the BC Libs. But they happened in every province. Gordo didn't have that kind of reach. How do you explain every other province facing the same kinds of issues?
Right wing governments seek out cuts to fund business tax cuts and business habd outs
Quick easy target in all provinces is health. Gordo guttet and contracted.our health care for that purpose - to create business/profit opportunities fie business and any savings were used to help fund business tax cuts
I didn't say unionize - although I very much support that - I did say they should move all care homes under the terms of provincial master contracts
The reason is to level the playing field and stop richer sites taking the staff.from poorer sites or sites that will always pay the lest under law they can get away with
In seniors care most long term care beds are publicly funded. The site owners make their profit not off the seniors but in how many corners they can cut and how low they can keep wages and benefits
Bc's seniors advocate has also.said this has led.to lesser levels.of care within long term care and very high staff turn over.
When profit is tye #1 priority you will never see innovative changes that make seniors life's.better. Those innovations are to increase profits not care
By taking profit out of the equation we.can then look to changes in seniors.care that will actually improve their lives
Private for profit turns seniors into a commodity instead of persons
Ultimately I'd like to see seniors care come in under the Canadian health act and be seen as an extention of health care instead of a commodity and something to make money off of

BC healthcare is in crisis and was before covid. This is the direct result of the BC liberals move to contract out health care and starve off wage increases
You could open 20 new icu beds but we don’t have the nurses to staff them. You could provide more operating room time but we don’t have the nurses or the sterile processing techs who clean the surgical instruments
BC liberals made health care a career few people are interested in going into. We could post icu nurses jobs at $20 per hour more than other icu nurses and the only takers would be the nurses already working other icu beds. Open 20 then close 20 would be the result
also many LPN’s and care aides started out as housekeepers or food services in hospitals and once there continued their education to advance in healthcare
Gordo killed that selling those jobs to multinational corporations who pay just above minimum wage to hospital housekeeping and kitchen staff.
care aides as well pre pandemic most working in private facilities made 19-20 per hour.
The number one injured occupation in Canada for many years has been bed side care providers ….. care aide’s. 1 in 10 suffer a career ending injury each year. Next to no care aide works past 60 because their body is broken. Under the Bc liberals those RCA’s saw wages drop tom$20 per hour and lost their pension. So after a life of back breaking work they get a cake when they have to retire. And their wages had been too low to have rrsp’s
we need to bring all care facilities under public contracts with decent benefits , pay decent wages and provide educational support with financing for people to go into needed healthcare jobs
then when we healthcare is fixed and people see it as a desire able career we will have enough skilled staff that the simple fixes of just opening more rooms and beds be possible

I.support science and the vaccines
I.dont support a general population vaccine mandate. Some occupations such as military,.police and health have always had mandatory vaccine policies and for good reason
BUT
We have reached the point that people who by choice are.not vaccinated should accept.that it's their duty to.isolate.to the greatest extent possible as we ride out this wave.
Some rolled up their sleeves and it's time.that.those.who can be vaccinated but choose not to now also.do.their part
Tired of them.crying it's division. It's not. It's everyone doing their part to end this and everyone respecting the choices others make (.so long as they do their part )
We all.want this over and it's very.unfair that we have a group.refusing to.do their part.
Those that can't cook do the dishes ..... everyone needs to do their part.

very misleading
She wasked if BC had millions of rapid tests just sitting in a warehouse. She answered truthfully that BC did not. What they do have is a supply of 1.3 million that are now being distributee for point of care testing for care providers in homes. Just over 100k of them just went out and with over 30 sites now in outbreak they will need everyone of that supply to ensure care staff test negative before starting each shift.
The anti crowd is desperate to paint leaders as liers or dictators that they will stretch any story to fit the narritive
That supply was not just sitting in a warehouse gathering dust as she was asked - its the supply they needed to have to be ready for the crush that is now hitting care sites
Had they distributed all of those tests to people then it would have left the cupboard bare for health care workers who actually need them before starting a shift.
Hosptils also have centrelized warehouses with mass quantiies of medical supplies ........ just like those tests they are to keep our healthcare system running
The actual question was asked was regarding the millions of tests promised by the feds which have not yet arrived. The myth was those had arrived and were just sitting there
A co worker pointed out that they now had factiual proof she is causing division. I asked how and they should me a screen shoft of her taking one coffee and leaving the other in the tray ..... she had clearly caused a division........ thats how easy it is to mold a narritive

Coronavirus outbreak
in Off-Topic General
Posted
for england they are lifting on or before march 15 the order to self isolate if you have covid
Although the recommend isolation for 5 days any person with known postive covid will be permited to go to work - visit seniors - do anything they please without masking or letting anyone know they are positive
someone can intentionally infect as many people as they like with no reprocussions or laibility.
I get the move to open up and we will be there soon as well. But to not require people who know they are positive ..... so by definition this means symptomatic people as all testing outside of inpatients is being halted as well - people who know they have it and are sick are free to do as they please.
That makes no sense and puts many people at high risk of serious illneess or death. We are atleast a year away from allowing anyone to be able to have active sympotmatic covid and being allowed to hide it and do as they please. Imagine a teacher or health care worker or bus driver doing this.........
sadly the betting odds that the next horrific mutated variation will be coming from the UK id bet.
