I say we trade Kesler to Florida and get Hubeardeu and Bjugstad. It would totally blind side both Philly and Pitts. Then trade Edler to Wings for Nyquist and Mantha.

He's been terrible for over two seasons at this stage. By your logic, Daniel Sedin is a Rocket Richard trophy candidate.
Except Edler is younger and dmen get better with age. He played really well for Sweden, MAGICALLY. He lost a good thing when Ehrhoff left, now he is no longer pp qb, no longer physical, etc and probably isn't best buds with Torts. He is going to be a stud on whatever team gets him just watch.

Meszaros is pending UFA. Should take him if we need to take a contract back.

why would you accept him as value when you plan to let him go?
If we were trading plugs, sure we can take a cap dump. Edler and Kesler are not plugs. It is not our responsibility to get Pits/Philly under the cap, we are not taking any useless contracts back.

I hate to say it but why are people so idiotic about their trade proposals. If the Flyers expect to get Kesler AND Edler in the deal, I expect us to get BOTH Schenn AND Couturier back in the deal.
There must be a benefit in adding Edler in the deal, right now people are giving him away.
So far I've seen is us getting 1 more prospect from Philly and a horrible cap dump roster player.
Philly are prepared to overpay us as is right now for Kesler, so NO WAY we are adding in Edler for just a bit more.
Edler can fetch a very decent prospect and a 1st rounder by himself.
At this rate and all this speculation, the bidding war between two arch rivals can have Kesler himself fetch us what some idiotic proposals are for both Kesler and Edler.
People are quick to forget that Edler is a 2nd tier Norris caliber dman. Of late he lost his niche on the team and looks lost, that is all!

Schenn is all am taking. We need skills and scoring up front. We already have Santos little helper, Richardson and Horvat that could take the last 2 center spots. Schenn is the more valuable player and the one with the higher upside. He could also eventually take H. Sedin's spot in the near future.

Why rush Bo? great player but he is not Nathan mackinnon. He'll start of the 3rd line like most great centers have, especially with his pedigree. B Schenn is far from a rental and would likely be part of the future core.
Simmonds is likely a non starter for them anyways. Holmgren is not thinking well we have insane young centre depth, let's trade our best winger for another centre.
Oh yeah, I expect Schenn in the trade, I just got the feeling that you wanted to push for a Simmonds type player over draft picks...Could leave us in a similar spot we are in with Booth. We have enough 3rd liners. Biggest take away from this trade will be capspace.

Why....there is NO point trading them together unless every prospect worthy of the name in Philli is coming back and even then we'd have to eat serious cap for it to happen.
Kesler ='s Top young player, top prospect and 1st round pick (+?)
Edler ='s Young player, Prospect and 1st round pick (?)
So why trade them together for less?
So we can cut some teams a break

Exactly, then as Horvat grows and we pull more top prospects out of the next 1 or 2 top ten drafts we can deal for a simmonds.

Horvat is the guy to step in for Kesler. We are going to get some rental garbage if we are looking for 2nd line impact center for next year, they would not give that up for Kesler!

We aren't trading them for unknowns either. We will trade them for blue chip prospects that have high chance of being good NHL players or rookie/young NHL players that still have potential. It would be totally idiotic to trade Edler and Kesler and come out empty handed.
Draft picks+really young prospects (i.e. Bo Horvat age group). If we get talent like what Pits is giving us/young impact NHL players that have a lot of NHL exp, their ceiling is already capped at 3rd line. Think about it, why would a team trade away a guy that is putting up second line points for an older guy doing the same?
We gain some value just because they are "proven" but give up a lot of value in potential of these players.

And sadly, that still isn't any worse than Edler. If we manage to get rid of Edler and get some good stuff coming back too, I wouldn't mind Schenn coming back if we need to take a cap dump.
Edler is mismanaged, he is not garbage.

I would keep kesler. Trade edler for someone to play with the sedins and if possible trade luongo for some one to play with kesler. That bolsters first and second line. Bam we make the playoffs

I see that pre-recorded speech with crap about NTC's in it too, I don't think Gillis will make any bold moves.
Gillis traded Hodgson, its not like he doesn't have it in him.
At this point, I this as becoming too big a mess if we hold on to Kes and also Luongo in the future.
I see Luongo more easily moved now with the emergence of Lack and the cap going up.

Needs to be done now while we can still get a maximum return for Kesler and or Edler. Our current Canucks are NOT playing as a team and it's obvious something needs to change. Love Kesler and what he brings to each game, but for the most part it is all about Kesler when he's on the ice. Say what you want about the Canucks (Gillis) inability to acquire a winger for Kesler, but in certain instances (and I believe this with Kesler) it's more about the players inability to adapt to his wingers than the other way around. Time to move him so he can become a "problem" for somebody else while we (hopefully) reap the benefits of what we get for him. Edler? Mmmmmm. Amazing player some days, and then plays like a flat ass stupid rookie on other days. Love to see somebody that's a little more balanced and stable for Edler even if it means taking a slight drop in talent to make the deal fly. Would like to see some consistency in return for Edlers sometimes schizoid performances of late. Get er done Gillis!!

Not going to happen, article said it will involve significant salary going back as it should as your deal would put the flyers at almost 6 million over the cap. Expect 1 or 2 of Hartnell, Voracek, Simmonds, Coburn or Meszaros.
Sure I'd gladly take 1 or 2 of those.

Don't see Gillis doing nothing. With the cap going up next yr, this is our chance to free up some cap and sign a FA or two and rebuild on the fly.

=14.25m+ in Cap space freed up + 5M (6.8M in cap going up -1.8M in Sedin raises)

My guess is that Kes and maybe Edler go to Philly. They seem like they would want Kes the most after the departure of Carter/Richards. Can already see him as a flyer. Pits may want him, but I just don't see them giving up enough in the end.

Why? we NEED to trade him if we are gonna rebuild and open room for Horvat. Best to avoid the Hodgson drama all over again. The second line has been a problem for us for a few yrs now. We needed to sign wingers for Kesler and have failed many times. This is a better route.

Wevy naice. Now Edler is a tradeable commodity without us HAVING to trade him, unlike the goalie situation. We could actually get something decent in return. I say he goes to EDM.

What this game did show was what kind of team LA has. A cheap shotting team that won't answer the bell if called out. A team that wil get the benefit of referreing. A team that can dive and taunt and attack star players without refute..and were outted by Sestito and Tort's in that game.
Yeah they are Boston of the west. Would have loved to see Bieksa vs Brown.

Oh and for those worrying about getting a roster player for Kesler, at this point, esp. after trading off Kesler, it would be stupid to not tank the remainder of the season and piss Bettman off a little. Translation: Schroeder plays 2c for remainder of season.
