If Daniel bounces back up from that hit, there's likely no call.
He's motionless on the ice, they call a penalty, stretcher comes out, 5 and a game. That's how the NHL works.
Hits from behind and targeting the head with the shoulder should both be out of the game, but are called so poorly and inconsistantly.

doesn't matter if it's the end of the season a suspension can carry over and if Daniel is seriously hurt it will be a heavy suspension it's a reckless play in a meaningless game
I'm commenting on the NHL wheel of justice, not the severity of the hit. Definitely needs to be a hit removed from the game.

Should be a lifetime ban. If the NHL doesn't do the right thing and end this scumbag's career, Sestito needs to Bertuzzi this scumbag and make him jealous of Steve Moore.
Likely no games, end of the season. Overall, the hit is from behind, but not as bad as many. No elbow to the head, didn't leave his feet. Just a bad hit from behind, maybe charging.

If Linden is made president of the club, does that just buy Gillis a few more months or another season by making a popularity move? or will he throw Trevor to the sharks and make him coach with no NHL or coaching experience, I think Linden would be too wise to fall for that.

Aqualini will fire Torts and MG and go behind the bench himself Thursday with assistant coaches Laurence Gillman and Stan Smyl. Smyl in complete disgust will take the ice himself, wearing the vintage 82 killer Vs jersey and take care of business.

I'm sure it's easier to just sit back and blame Gillis, without really having to understand why, but it's typical mass mentality out looking for blood because they're frustrated. There's nothing smart about it, purely reactionary. I certainly don't recall "fire Gillis" chants in December.
Well you missed two years worth of Fire Gillis. Mist people wanted him to go with AV. He's a player agent pretending he's a GM.

great system i can see why people want torts to return, 6 shots by forwards thru 2 periods. players look confused and bored.
terrible hire by medaling owners.
does lack even stand up or does he just play the entire game from his knees man he's down early and often. personally not comfortable with him as the number 1 going forward maybe in a year or two but right now on his best days he's just average.

The NHL is so slow to deal with change that I think hits to the head were legal then, weren't they? Such a embarrassing league, my goodness.
Don Cherry made a cottage industry of what are no longer clean hits. Lining someone up in the trolly tracks isn't legal anymore either.
On top of that the league is hesitant call head shots. They have a responsibility to treat head contact seriously, therefore they ignore them or deny them to avoid having to react.

As long as hiring Benning isn't followed by signing a washed up Chara and having him steal the C away from Henrick (we already traded away Luongo). (Keenan -> Messier era was a very bad time as a Canucks fan)
I'm looking forward to a new era and a new coach soon.
