  1. I hate this fan-base sometimes. The guys are previous art-ross trophy winners, that took us to the SCF...and you just want to turn on them the moment they go through a rough patch? You do not deserve to have ever watched the sedins - dudes gave up 1.5M each to children's hospital, they've done countless things for this city....by your completely flawed logic..every time something bad happens you should turn away from it and get rid of it.

Dog gets sick? Put it down

GF has a period? Break up with her

Boss has a rough day? Quit your job

Tire goes flat? Sell your car

    Freakin' ridiculous.

I love the Sedins and have defended them for years, back when they were scrapping for ice time behind the WCE and moving to Calgary, where they get no respect. My problem is even healthy the league allows others teams to ride them, and their cycle has dried up. I think Henrick will always be a great center, but Danny is lost out there. If we could trade one I would actually make the move, they a pair however, so moving them would be a mistake.

  2. Defense hung Luongo out to dry, Luo spent most of the night as old Luo on his knees and stomach. We quit playing after 25 minutes. Pathetic!

But I'll be back next game and every other one. One day we'll talk about this slump, hopefully not as an era, and laugh.

  3. Ah, the infamous "sounds like he's making excuses" quote. A little perspective....

Prospect camp: Cody says back is fine, no problem.

    Main camp: back feels good

    Pre-season: backs not a problem, I'm good

The day Cody gets cut: Oh my back!

AV is asked what he thinks about Cody saying his back is still a problem. There's really only two answers:

1 - The kid lied to us for the past six weeks

    2 - Sounds like he's making an excuse for a poor pre-season

    Which answer is better?

AV went with making an excuse but obviously the correct answer was Cody lied about his back. There were million$ of reason$ on the line to lie. But that lie set him back a year (not to mention putting his health and career at risk) as he then went on a medical wander. His own doctor, his junior teams medical staff, and a highly regarded back specialist in the US. All came up with bulging disc. After a season long wander he returns to Vancouver still having back problems and the medical staff discover a muscle tear that's aggrivating the disc. Problem solved. But that wasted year and AV's comment is entirely on Hodgson for his lie in the first place. Had he been honest maybe the medical staff looks further at that time and the secondary problem gets solved right away. Hodgson has mismanaged himself as far as I'm concerned.

Hodgson may say the right things to the press, but the fact he fired two agents and was onto his third before ever playing an NHL game just screams self entitled prima donna. Frankly, I liked the trade for Kassian from the day it happened. Hodgson is overrated here. He'll be a pretty good player but he's no Trevor Linden and never will be.

There it is miss managed. No one really knows what was happening, but if the team thinks he's healthy and his only nursing sore pride, you have a problem. At that point he's all potential, never cracked an NHL line up and has a great junior rcord, trade him. This becomes a question of management and MG's ability to move players.

As for Kassian he's proving to show more skill and upside than he appeared to after the trade

  4. Look, I don't understand why you're still holding a so called gripe with management, hind sight is 20/20. How long ago did the trade involving Hodgson happen? You never know, management might have learned something through it all. Personally I think think they handled things pretty well by keeping it out of the media for most part to this day. So how do you know how things were really handled.

Canuck management knew what they had in Hodgson more than any of us will ever know, they drafted him. You say they miss managed him? I say he was a pretty big cancer behind the scenes for management to trade him on the potential of a player, whom I might add was far younger than Hodgson at the time and presently is still maturing. So not really knowing what the whole of the story is one can't say they mismanaged him. People can say things aren't fair but when millions of dollars of contracted money is on the table get over fair. Maybe their biggest fault would have been being too patient with him knowing what they had.

The Kassian trade is old news and if you liked Hodgson that much, head over to Buffalo. You can follow him there.

side note: I watch Hodgson during high lights, he's a crap skater, do you think he's going to get faster? I watch his defensive play, which is effected by his lack of speed, is that going to get better?

Kassian on the other hand is what we've got to pull for and he's looking better. His learning curve is between his ears. He's maturing with great guidance from Torts and Co.

That's why I am saying the Canucks miss managed Hodgson, it has nothing to do with Kassian other than his perceived value through his trade. Hodgson was a cancer, but we knew that well before he ever put on a Canucks uniform, but he was coming from some incredible junior play. His dealings with his agent and our dealings with his injuries were a sign and should have made him at least a good second to third rice of a big trade.

  5. I love how Weekes basically says that because torts not on an original 6 team anymore, he is going to get penalized

It's true though, the league makes "veteran calls" and favours the original six and developing markets. He's calling it as it is, even though he backtracked a bit on the comment after

  6. He's definitely winning me over.

My gripe would be with Canucks management miss-managing Coho. Based on the potential he showed in the juniors they should have been able to deal him, possibly sooner, for someone else.

Right now, for what Kassian provides for the deal we got an equal deal. Overall, you don't want Hodgson to be another Peter Schaefer, which he seemed to be, believing his own hype.
