  1. the weather network is the hockey buzz of weather forecasting...

Environment Canada is a helluva lot better

If only I could have environment canada on my blackberry.

This is the drift on the side of our apartment (not me in the picture).

another beautiful day in Van and it looks like the whole week is going to be sunny!

the city looks so nice on days like this but it also means its FREEZING out!

Edit: OMG the long range for Dec 11th calls for more that 10 cm of snow!

i hope the long range is wrong!

Yeah it's been sunny and warm up until now. I guess we were due for some crappy weather *sigh*.

I can't even move my car.

  3. Check this out. Lethbridge is ridiculous today. There's been like 6 people stuck in front of my apartment already.

My balcony. Dont ask why the hockey stick was there (I don't know), but it's a good measuring stick.

  4. How does a soldier remain unknown?

Basing from what I know on war movies, individual soldiers have dog tags, correct? And doesn't each squad have a roll call? Battalion roll calls? And then of course the army and the government has all the paper work and identification so when a soldier never returns, wouldn't they know so and so has died in combat? I don't understand how a soldier can be unknown.

As much as we did about ww1/ww2 in history, we never went over this at all.

Not always. Back in those days it wasn't kept up as well, so it's very possible that there were soldiers who died unknown. And there are a lot of bodies found that are so mutilated that you cannot possibly identify them. So in a way they died "unknown". The family would only know that the soldier did not return, but they could only assume that they died. So I suppose that's what they mean by "unknown soldier".

You also have to take partisans into account. There was no system governing them, or roll call or lists or anything of the sort. When they died, they died unknown.

  5. Is M31 gay? I'm not trying to insult (anyone who sees being homosexual as an insult these days is a moron anyway,) I'm just curious.

Where would you get that impression? Was it the posting pictures of like 5 guys in the man crush thread? Understandable I suppose.

I'm comfortable enough in my heterosexuality that I can admit certain men are good looking without feeling like I'm gay.

M31 isn't gay, just inept with the ladies.

    Ultimate irony here.

  6. Hitting the gym doesn't always work for the tall, skinny guy. I worked out faithfully for years, 5 days a week, every week. All I did was high wieght, low rep workouts, and never gained a pound. I ate exactly as all the weightlifting mags told me I should, protien and carbs at the exact time according to when I worked out.

A few years doing stucco, and I've gained about 60 pounds of muscle. All I ever got from the gym was a ripped, but still skinny body.

I agree. A lot of people seem to think you just have to go to the gym and pump some iron and that'll do the trick. No, it definitely isn't.

  7. It's not a job for everyone. I like it.

The reason I need someone willing to commit to a career, is because it cost's me quite a bit to train someone. Over the course of an apprenticeship, it probably costs me between 5-7 thousand in lost labour to train someone. I don't mind doing that, if they'll work for me for a few years and make me that money back, but otherwise, it's not worth it for me.

That makes sense. I've never had a labourers job like that before.
