  1. DEFENSE - Offensive - Strong offensive upside. Excellent passers and high offensive IQ. Great wrist shot, and great with their stick. Can be weak, and not very physical, and average defensively. Offensive (Finesse) - Little bit lower offensive IQ than regular Offensive, but have a better slap shot. Softer. Offensive (Physical) - Lower offensive IQ then both regular and (Finesse), but much stronger and physical. Bit weaker defensively. Recommended deployment: Pair them with a Defensive, Standard or Rugged defenseman. PP time is a must. -- Pointman - Strong offensive upside. Great slap shot and passing. Play well positionally. Like to shoot more. Can be weak, and not very physical. Pointman (Finesse) - Only difference is they have a better wrist shot, and a bit higher offensive IQ. Softer. Pointman (Physical) - Sacrifice a bit of offensive IQ and defense for physicality, strength and shot blocking. Not as good with their stick. Recommended deployment: Can hold their own defensively, but would still be ideal with a Defensive, Standard or Rugged defenseman. Could kill penalties. PP time recommended. -- Playmaker - Strong offensive upside, and great passers. Solid defensively, but very weak shot, and not as high offensive IQ as Offensive defensemen. Playmaker (Finesse) - Bit lower offensive IQ, but better at handling and shooting the puck. Softer. Playmaker (Physical) - Sacrifice shooting ability for strength and physicality. Recommended deployment: Can work with anyone, and could play in any role, depending on their current ability. -- Defensive - Excel at all facets of defense. Physical, will block shots, and strong. Limited passing and shooting abilities. Lower offensive upside. Defensive (Finesse) - Weaker and less physical, but better at handling and passing the puck. Defensive (Physical) - A bit weaker defensively, but much stronger and physical. More limited offensively. Recommended deployment: PK time is a highly recommended. PP time is not, unless very gifted. Can complement Offensive, Playmaker and Pointman or even a Defensive/Standard/Rugged pairing to form a great shutdown pairing. -- Standard - Very good defensively, and can have high offensive upside as well. Like to think of them as a better offensive version of Defensive. Recommended deployment: Can work with anyone, and could play in any role, depending on their current ability. -- Rugged - Very physical. Strong defensively, but not as good as Defensive or Standard. Very limited offensively, and poor at handling the puck and shooting. Like to think of them as a more aggressive Defensive (Physical). Recommended deployment: Absolutely no PP time, but. a must on the PK. Pair them with someone offensively gifted to complement them or a Defensive/Standard player to form a great shutdown pairing.

  3. CLOUT EXPLAINED An underrated aspect of team building is acquiring players with the appropriate clout relative to your existing players. For forwards, its not a big deal, as even strength ice-time will only differ by 1-2 mins max. But for defenseman, it can be the difference of logging 20-25 mins vs 13-15 mins of even strength ice-time. If you didn't know, Michal Krmas and Erik Brannstrom are two of the top 10 rated NHL defenders on RD. Why is McDonagh logging 4+ more minutes then Krmas? And nearly 10 mins more then Brannstrom? Why is Muzzin logging more minutes then Brannstrom and Fowler? (Both are rated higher.) Because of clout, the EHM coach tends to play guys with the most clout (technically referred to as 'Reputation' in the game). While in Time Lord's case, its not too big of a deal, that McDonagh is logging huge minutes, as he's pretty solid, but it can be frustrating if you have an older vet who isn't as good as your younger stars logging more minutes. Depending on your D's ice time allocation, it might be best to move on from a player, to get optimal ice-time deployment from your defense. Time Lord opted to scratch Jake Muzzin in Game 7, in favour for a young 24 year old Jeff Petry comp, who had little clout, which boosted the ice time of his better defenders. Another example is P.K. Subban didn't have as high clout as Zfetch's Dalibor Mlinar and Noah Hanifin, thus he logged 15-17 minutes for them. On my team? He was logging more minutes then Chris Tanev, Darnell Nurse and Dennis Cholowski.
  4. PLAYER TYPES EXPLAINED Mainly applies to generated prospects. Some may not pan exactly like the description says. You might have a Sniper who is strong defensively! FORWARDS - All Around - Hard working players, who are really good defensively, and strong. Offensively, they can be decent passers with a good wrist-shot. Can develop both offensively and defensively, but will lack some offensive abilities of a Playmaker, Sniper or Finesse. Recommended deployment: Surround them with snipers and playmakers, to help cover them defensively. Place them on the PK as well, and PP if they are at least rated Top 6. — Finesse - Magicians with the puck. Great at stick handling and deking, coupled with strong passing ability. with amazing offensive IQ, and can develop a lethal wrist shot. May be lacking in strength, and will not be physical at all. Recommended deployment: Can work with anyone, but would recommend a sniper with them to be the trigger man. A must on the power play. — Grinder - Strong players who are excellent hitters and defensively responsible. Work hard every shift, and can drop the mits. Have a willingness to block shots. Sorely lacking in offensive IQ, and not great with the puck on their stick. Not much overall offensive upside. Recommended deployment: Bottom 6. Place them on the PK. — Power Forwards - Great at tipping pucks in front of the net, and excellent hitters. Strong on their skates and very aggressive on the forecheck, work hard every shift. Have a willingness to block shots. Not the greatest at handling the puck, thus can cause turnovers. Offensive IQ can be lacking. Recommended deployment: Anywhere in the line-up, they can help open up ice for your softer offensive players. — Defensive - Excel at all facets of defense. Strong, and play a reliable game and good passers. Lacks offensive IQ, poor slapshot, and limited offensive upside. Defensive (Physical) - Excel at all facets of defense. A little bit weaker defensively then regular Defensive, but make up for it with their hitting and willingness to block shots. Poor offensive IQ, wrist shot, slapshot and limited offensive upside. Defensive (Finesse) - Excel at all facets of defense. Tad bit less raw skill defensively then regular Defensive and (Physical) but make up for it with good passing and control with the puck. Bit better offensively. Not physical or strong at all. Limited offensive upside. Recommended deployment: Could slot on the 2nd line if highly rated, but more suited for bottom 6. Excellent defensively, so a must on the PK. — Playmaker - High offensive upside, high hockey IQ, and passing ability. Will prefer to pass over shooting. Good at deflecting pucks. Good on the powerplay. Can be limited defensively. Playmaker (Physical) - Only difference then regular Playmaker is they are much stronger and more physical and not as good at deking and tad bit weaker at passing. Playmaker (Finesse) - Only difference then regular Playmaker is they can develop a decent wristshot, but worse at deflections. Softer, but a bit better defensively. Recommended deployment: Top 9 is ideal, can really fit any where on your team depending how you build it. A must on the power play. Make sure to have atleast one Sniper with them. — Sniper - High offensive upside, excel at shooting the puck. Get into the open spots, can deflect shots, handle the puck, and good on the powerplay. Weakest defensively of all player types, and not physical. Tendency to shoot over passing, can have limited defensive upside. Sniper (Finesse) - Not as good of a slap shot as regular Sniper, but have better offensive IQ. Bit better defensively. Much softer. Sniper (Physical) - Not as good of a wrist shot as regular Sniper, but are stronger and more physical. Little bit lower offensive IQ. Recommended deployment: Top 9 is ideal, can really fit any where on your team depending how you build it. A must on the power play. Make sure to have at least one Playmaker or Finesse player with them. —
  5. 4th straight 1st round exit, since capturing the Stanley Cup. Toews and Kane are now 37 and 36 years old. Time is running out to win their 6th cup to join Mark Messier as the last player to win 6 cups post 1980 era. Good series @Monty
