How does "not winning a cup" translate to "playing here only for a paycheck?"
Are you listening to yourself ?

Pierre is going to take face to face meetings to another level.

It's easy to discount our players simply because we don't have cups.
Doesn't mean it's correct though. I think both Sedins and Kucherov are all good in their own right, cups or no cups.
If we're really going for cups being the standard then Justin Williams is one of the greatest players of all time. Perhaps we should also consider Luke Schenn as being better than the Sedins since he won a cup too. lol
At the end of the day, it’s all about winning a cup. I don’t care what anyone says. And your logic doesn’t make any sense. The cup should be a standard when playing in the NHL. Anyone playing here only for a pay check doesn’t deserve to be in a Canuck uniform.

I'll take either Sedin before Kuch.

I think at this point in the rebuild, its good to avoid the big names. And when it comes to prospects and assets, I feel like its the opposite, we have quite a few prospects who have been doing very well in their respective leagues. Maybe the reason why it looks like we dont have many prospects is because the ones we are drafting are making the team and making an impact so they go from draft picks/prospects to NHLers overnight.
If we were to go after the big names now, its going to cost us a roster player, prospect and a pick or more. Thats a lot to move out only to get 1 player in return. We should be going after the big guys when we are competing/heading into playoffs. Let the team play it out for a bit and then identify the guy we need. We dont need to just go after a guy everytime because he is available, we need the right fit. Someone who will do well in our systems and work well off their dpartner/linematesPettersson, Boeser, Horvat, Demko, Hughes, Hoglander, Rathbone, Podkolzin, Juolevi are all guys that are/were prospects that are about to or instantly became NHLers. I would also even mention Virtanen and McCann, both are in the NHL, for now…. Virtanen’s career/future is in question
We have guys like DiPietro, Karlsson, McDonough, Kunz, Lockwood, Lind, Gadjovich, Woo, Focht, Malone who are all doing pretty decently where they are right now.
JB’s drafting has produced 1801 NHL games in 7 years…..thats almost more than Gillis’s drafting and Gillis’s drafting had a 6 year head start on playing in the NHL.
Gillis’ drafting has produced 1969 NHL games. Next season, Benning will surpass that in less than 20 games.
I dont think the future for Vancouver could be any brighter. As long as we can continue to draft and produce NHL players through our own organization, we will be a very good team for a very long time. All we have to do is land a few guys here and there at the through trade and or free agency and we will be a contending team for many years
Look at Tampa, the large majority of their team was allllll drafted by Tampa, they developed in the system and they took a handful of years to get where they are now.
Vancouver is drafting, developing and icing a team that is largely becoming more and more of Vancouvers own draft picks and they are making an impact.
Be patient my friend. The good times are right around the corner
Lemme know when we draft a Kucherov or a Hedman.

Why we are never in the conversation for big name trades in the Benning era?

Sorry I’m not agreeing with you. It’s an open discussion forum so that’s why I’m here. I would like the Canucks to win a cup in my lifetime. I really don’t think you care at all if they win one at all but that’s none of my business.
