The Leafs have a great team. They would make fine Stanley Cup champions and would definitely restore some of the pride among Canadian hockey fans, especially somein this market who have become disillusioned. I think we all should be cheering them on this year.
The Canucks should also strive to put together a team like they did. We're already a step ahead with some good goaltenders in the system but we got tons of work to do. Still, the Leafs are a model franchise. Nylander is looking more and more like a steal everyday.
You’re fired

What a team the Avs have. Wait till Newhook and Byram start making significant impacts too...
They're gonna win cups.
This is why I hate the cap. You have the opportunity to build a dynasty and before that u have to trade someone. Remember back in the day how much excitement was around when the Redwings or Avalanche or whoever came into town. It was a must ticket to have and when your team beat them it was huge. Sadly that’s gone now to let the weaker teams have a chance with the cap.
Those teams like the rangers who tried to buy cups never panned out. You actually have to be smart when it comes to loading teams up. It seldom works out. I’d love for the cap to be removed.

Correct. Gadjovich was sent to Winnipeg in case there was an injury, but wasn't eligible to play as the Canucks had used up all of their recalls.
Ahhh kk. Im
glad I didn’t post my frustration. I thought he just wasn’t getting played like olli . Thanks dude

Was Gadjovich just eligible now to play? I thought he could play during our last visit in Winnipeg?

Obviously cool. I have no idea what role he would have. Does he have any coaching experience?
I know he was on the coaching staff to some point with the Victoria grizzlies. They stayed at a hotel I worked at about 15 years ago

How proud can/should we be for Kevin bieksa? Our own boy just killing it on HNIC. At first this was an iterm position but it’s pretty clear he’s there to stick. You can tell they lean on him a bunch for wit and his views. What’s your favourite Kevin moment? Mine are too many but tonight during the post game Kevin says this “ Connor skating around laughing at all his teammates like he was “toadstool” from Mariokart.” . Just gold!!! Let’s hear your Kevin stories/memories! Is fedor fedorov reading this?

You mean the same John McCaw who told Pat Quinn to walk away from signing Wayne Gretzky?
Yep. Is there another John mccaw that owned the team??

You mean the clown that phoned Gretzky at midnight and issued him an ultimatum?
Trust me - I loved Quinn as a coach and he did manage to land us Bure in the draft that one time, but he was an idiot GM.
Yeah I mean he didn’t pull off some of the greatest trades in franchise history. Get the hell out of here. You’ve lost all credibility.

Griffiths were nice. But let's face it they didn't give Quin enough of a wallet to compete with salary disclosure (not that it was their doing, but it happened). Nedved was a greedy chump so good riddance, but Bure did his time and earned a pay day which the owners weren't willing to sign for. The Orca Entertainment group branded us. Not a good look, and wanted to move the team to Seattle, Quin wouldn't allow it. Aqua is the best owner we've had yet.
Let’s not forget that the Griffiths paid for GM place out of their own wallet. Around 110 million at the time with no tax money. Mccaw was looking into moving the team I believe but at the time Canadian teams were in very bad shape. Any other owner may have moved the team. Quinn I believe was responsible for convincing mccaw not to rename the team the orcas if I recall. Overall maccaw wasn’t a bad owner. Aqua man is the worst owner we have had just because he has been rumoured to be too involved with the decisions the GM is supposed to be making. In my opinion that has crippled this teams growth for years and years. I don’t believe you can say the same as the previous two owners

Be careful what you wish for. Some of us remember what ownership was like prior to Aquilini buying the team. It definitely wasn't better.
It wasn’t worse. Mccaw kept out of the decision making for the most part. The griffiths were wonderful too so I don’t understand what you’re talking about

Guys, the Loui jokes never get old. They’re just so damn funny. Now go watch the Big Bang theory because that’s also super funny

I don’t care about this thread but I’ll use it to say satiar Shaw is the biggest weasel in the media since the late Jason botchford. Talk about a guy who rides others coat tails. Constantly uses others work and passes it off as his own. Just a greasy greasy guy. I’m surprised he’s made it up to the likes of Murphy and macintrye. He is no where close to those guys. When u look back at who they (sportsnet) have let go it’s clear that they were going for quantity over quality due to money. What a joke

Now that the Canucks have a much more firm date of return, I thought it would be fun to get back to talking about what we would be talking about, the up coming playoff picture.
Now I know that some of you have already written them off and to be honest I did to before the Covid outbreak. I am not delusional, I do realize that it would take a great run for the Canucks to make the playoffs. But I have been analyzing both the Canucks and Canadians schedule and I have started to change my mind about the Canucks playoff Chances. It seems that the Die hard fans of this forum who haven't given up on them might be right.
Let me explain what is I see in the Schedule that might change your mind
As it stands Van has 4 games in hand on MTL but MTL has 12pts on Van.
(interesting note if both teams where tied at seasons end depending on how the remaining games play out both teams have a path to the playoffs through tiebreakers. But if all games where won or lost in regulation or the Canucks managed to win more games in regulation then MTL, the Canucks would have the 1st and 2nd tiebreakers This is due to MTL having so many loser points. MTL only holds the 3rd Tiebreaker game results played against each other).
As I stated in the Title The Canucks first 6 games will determine their playoff chances. Here is why
Van plays Tor twice and Ott 4 times. that's 6 games no back to backs for the first 6 games.
MTL plays 7 games in the same period, 1 Against Ott tonight (this is a back to back as they played yesterday). 2 against Edm 3 against Cal and 1 against Tor ( note, the Canucks play Tor the next day so the Canucks get Tor on a back to back but this is the Canucks first Back to Back the first game being against Ott).
For the Canucks to have any chance of making the playoffs I predict that Minimally they would have to split the first two Games against Tor and win all 4 games against Ott for a record of 5-1. I believe this is do able. The Canucks will have two games to get the rust off against Tor and should be fired up against a team they know they can beat and have dominated all season In OTT. The hardest part of this task will be the Canucks finding a win against Tor. Hard but not impossible.
Second part of this is MTL of course. Since returning MTL has been playing .500 hockey. I believe this is in part of their very condensed schedule. The Canucks had been playing far more games to start the season and MTL last half of the season was much more condensed then the Canucks to start with. After their Covid outbreak their Schedule became much more condensed and I believe it is starting to show in their play.
It doesn't get better for MTL they have 15 game in 26 days while the Canucks have 19 games in 32 days
If MTL goes 3-4 in their next 7 games which I Believe is a very good possibility. Their records would look like this
Van 21-19-3 45pts 43 games played with 13 games remaining
Mtl 22-17-9 53 pts 48 games play with 8 games remaining therefore leaving the Canucks 5 games in hand.
If MTL Keeps playing at .500 hockey then their record would be 26-21-9 61pts.
Then in the Canucks last 13 games of hockey they would need to go 8-5 for a record of 29-24-3 61 pts.
I would just like to finish this topic reminding everyone about the Great run the Canucks made in last Seasons playoffs after they had a long break. If Demko is up to this Challenge as I believe he is The Canucks will make the Playoffs.
Please just stop. Just STOP

Turris absolutely does not replace Sutter, his game has been falling off for years. Sutter actually plays a valuable role for a team with playoff aspirations.
But but but don’t you know the cool thing to do to fit in on Canucks forums is to pick a player and rag on him constantly without even watching his game and realizing he’s actually a pretty solid player.
