CDC gamers and computer folks, please help!

I’m looking to get a budget gaming PC for my kids. The main thing they want to do is have a system they can connect their Meta Quest 2 VR set to PC via the Link cable and play Roblox VR. So it doesn’t need to be anything too special, just needs that capability.

And I really don’t want to build it myself. Want to buy something ready out of the box.

So, with all that in mind, what do people think of this “deal” for a refurbished system:

    https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/refurbished-excellent-gaming-pc-aqvin-desktop-computer-tower-black-intel-core-i7-up-to-4-0-ghz-1tb-ssd-32gb-ddr4-ram-radeon-rx-580-8gb-windows-10-pro-only-at-best-buy/17160400

I know these components are several generations old and nowhere near the specs serious gamers would want. But for Roblox VR, and some average gaming for kids, would this be sufficient?

The RX 580 is an older video card, but as far as I can tell, it’s on the supported list (AMD 500 series) for Meta Quest Link. I’ve read some recent reviews that say it’s “aged like fine wine,” so maybe it’s still decent?

And the i7 6700, 1TB SSD, 32GB DDR4 offers a lot better specs than I’m seeing for many new systems at the budget/entry level and similar price range.

But honestly, my knowledge of gaming PCs today is super limited so I really have no idea if this is a decent value buy for a kids’ entry level system or just a piece of trash and not worth considering.

Other recommendations are welcome as well. The above link is just something I found this morning after looking around at sales online.

    Help! :frantic:

Check out Minisforum website. I've been sniffing around some of their builds for a gaming PC

Are you saying it's ok to drink and drive? I go to the Milltown Pub in South Van. I tip well. If I'm driving I don't drink. If I walk down, then I can drink.

Would you rather "kill" a scene, or see people getting killed by impaired driving? Last thing I want to hear is a kid crossing a street in Delta getting smoked by a drunk driver.

I dunno, is there anything wrong with having a drink with lunch?

Pettersson is hardly a legitimate nhl prospect.

I’d say he has less than a 25% chance of ever becoming a top 4 defensemen for us.

whelp, I guess we just stop drafting D altogether, somebody alert somebody

Electrician, but of the industrial variety.

Just met someone local too, so I'm really locked in but it's not the end of the world.

I barely scraped enough money to get a 1 bedroom apartment, but have no idea what the next step will be if we wanna live in a bigger place.

Don't want to derail too much...

Join the IBEW and get to Kitimat LNG Canada, there's fly in and out from the island. Two weeks in one off isn't that bad and you will be pulling 130 a year.

Moved to Nanaimo from Port Moody. We have a 2,000 sq ft home, a nice backyard/frontyard, an unfinished two car garage that we turned into a family room/home gym. We aren't stressed about mortgage payments.

We paid less than what we would have needed to pay for a 1,200 sq ft townhouse built in the 80s where you're paying $400 month to strata.

If you can get out of the Mainland, do it. There are parks everywhere. Our dog is happy. Not being cooped up in a condo gives us things to do beyond just working from home. My only regret is not doing this sooner.

Boy that would be great if we could all just leave our jobs and get one in the same Nanaimo and have the same luck you had. Reality dictates otherwise

Petey and Aho as our top two centres would be amazing. We’d have to give up more than just JTM though.
JTM + 11OA for Aho. Not enough?

I would do that. Maybe a bit lopsided against us but when I look at other proposals on other forums it's always a fleecing to their own team. You got to give to get.

Look at what Florida gave up for one player and how it's worked out

Gas in the Okanagan is $169.9 and there's literally ZERO excuses as to why it is this high now outside of pure greed.

Supply chain excuses.  Over.  Ukraine conflict.  proven to be and have nil effect on NA supplies.  Refining capacity.  Optimal.

    No excuses.

Interesting. I wonder where they get it from. Guessing with the high cost of diesel and transporting it through the winter road mountains the cost would be a bit higher?

Not at all.  I'm just reporting the facts.

With Miller, Tampa Bay did not win the Cup.  Without Miller, they did, and in fact, used the asset they got for him to acquire a player that had contributions in both wins (Blake Coleman).

I'm not saying that Blake Coleman is directly responsible, and I'm not saying JT Miller was responsible for previous failure, but clearly this trade worked out as intended because it allowed Tampa Bay to reinvest in a new area and finally reach new heights in the playoffs.  Vancouver got a great player, but didn't really make improvements as a team.  That's not at all on Miller (it's 100% on management), but this is how the trade has worked out for both sides.  One side won it all (twice), the other didn't really get anywhere.  In a history book, everything that I'm saying here would be reported as such.

ummm, you still literally are. sure there is words you put in, but you are correlating the two

When did I say it was on Miller?  I simply pointed out that Tampa Bay, as a team with Miller, went out in R1 as a PT winner.  Then, without Miller, won the cup twice.  I'm not saying there is a direct correlation, so any thought of that would be "your words, not mine".

Aren't you literally saying there is a direct correlation?

  10. Just wait for Huberdeau and Weegar to check out the Dome from the early eighties and the "state of the art facilities" at minus 20 degree weather and decide weather they want to re up with the Flames after being in Florida for multiple years...They would be silly to sign long term before that
