  1. moving

    money out is expensive,

in this case a 3rd round pick.
    Both players ufa 23/24 season.

I never liked the Pearson resigning by Benning, thought it was expensive and had urged Benning not to do it on cdc which I thought he was reading regularly.  Clearly he wasn't, should have been, obviously.

All in all Pearson has been a decent Canuck. Wish him luck in Montreal.  Bring on De Smith.

All things considered, a good trade by Allvin.

  2. From dust to dust, so long cdc.

Long time reader of this forum and have enjoyed posting as well over the past few years.

This site has been the best news source for our team.

I'll be keeping my team, of course, and will be looking for familiar posters on a new forum.

    I will remember you!

  3. Hope we never see lockdown/strike action again.  The current nhl salary cap structure has worked well for the most part apart from the cap not going up in recent years and gm's not planning for or doing enough with that scenario and gm's just signing some dumb contracts.

Allvin showed if you don't like the contract, best to trade the player (Horvat).  That said, he could have done better with the Boeser contract.

  4. Quinn Hughes as Captain is the right call for this team.  At just 23 years old he'll be a fun captain for his team-mates as he stikes me as someone who can easilly put together team events.  He'll be a great spokesperson for the team.  Under-rated around the league, he'll be even more so appreciated in Vancouver.

Benning wasn't the one stupid enough to compound the problem with a buyout.  Bottom line is that Rutherford did far more damage with this move than Benning did over his entire tenure, and it's impossible to undo it.  The destruction this idiot has done to the franchise is unforgivable and fans have a duty to run him out of town by any means necessary.

Most fans are happy that we'll ice a more competitive team for the upcoming season so kudos to management for helping the squad along in a very tight cap situation league wide.  How else could you improve the team for the coming season?  I do think the Canucks will be surprisingly better this season.

When the larger amounts of the OEL buyout kicks in the Canucks will insert players on ELC contracts.  Canucks top prospects, especially on D, should be ready to contribute and excel.  I'm excited to see the prospects mature as oppossed to signing another overpriced free agent or seeing OEL keep a player like D-Petey from getting into the lineup.

I had literally never paid any attention to him while in Detroit and he didn't play much in Van last season.

What do you like the most about Hronek? What does he bring?

I'd say presence on the ice in a strong and good way.  He can play 20 - 22 minutes a night and plays will run through him when he's on the ice as he is a 2 way defenceman with a flair for offence.  Like Hughes it makes sense to play him with a defensive player.  Canucks will come at teams in waves, first with Hughes, next with Hronek and maybe a third wave with Hirose/Wolanin.

If there was a team that was willing to pay him $2 million on a multi year deal then they simply would have picked him up off waivers and just kept his original contract. The $1.1 million was expected and is what I wanted the Canucks to offer him. If he doesn’t pan out you can put him back on waivers and send him to Abby with zero cap hit. If he refuses to report you can terminate his contract.

Good info.  Explains the Hoglander contract as well.  Canucks fans have to be excited that the team doesn't feel like it needs to add a DeBrincat like goal scorer especially at the acquisition cost.  Not understanding the Yzerplan.   A player for free?  Wonder if Max Comtois would sign in Vancouver 2x 1.1m?  I'd rather the Canucks sign Comtois over Zadina.  I don't really understand the Zadina and Comtois buyouts.

He’s a friggin’ peanut. Yzerboy will be feeling the axe soon. He’s doing a terrible job. Traded away his best player. To us, thankfully.

Agreed, not a fan of the Yzerplan.  Some media saying Yzerman fleeced Ottawa, but I find the acquisition cost to add DeBrincat very high.  What other team wants to add a winger at 7.875 salary right now?  Kubalik is a decent player going back in trade plus the 1st rounder, I don't get it, does he not like Czek players?

Glad Canucks took advantage.  Fans are going to find out starting in October just how good Hronek is.

    Hronek >  DeBrincat
    Hronek > Horvat
