  1. Good news is that I like the fast, up tempo, puck possession style that Gillis envisions is best for the core roster of Canucks. However, if anyone wavered on the vision, I think Gillis did. After Boston won, it was the model of power, nastiness, mixed with skill. After Chicago won, it's back to speed and skill. Now it's back to up tempo, offensive approach hockey.

Bad news is that it seems he left a door way for Torts to come back if he is willing and capable of retooling himself to coaching that style of hockey. Can Torts do it? Is he willing to?

One statement that wasn't the most supportive of JT - "I believe any coach should be able to coach our team with the current roster and resources" (something to that extent).

  2. Sounds like he is positioning himself to be President of hockey operations with a vision.

Step aside from GM job and get a coach that can coach the up tempo roster ... a coach kind of like AV, I guess.

Please don't whine about Toronto media ... sound like the players of old. I thought you instituted a no whining culture. Don't pay attention to the Toronto media.

  3. Treat the rest of the season like training camp ... let anyone and everyone play. Tinker with combinations. Bring up some kids. Separate the team into two ... blue and white and send one to Calgary and the other to Edmonton.

  4. I am more sickened by some of the fans posting on this message board than I am by our team. Cheering for and advocating that our players injure members of another team? Come on guys grow up

Agree +1 ... but some of the other mods on CDC are like this! See the end of Anaheim GDT.

  5. Just met Torts after the game, and he was by FAR the nicest Canuck that stopped. He stopped, made sure everyone got a signature or a picture with him. All very politely and with a smile. He's a very nice guy, contrary to his on-ice image.

nobody questions his niceness as a person. But $2m/yr is a lot to pay for a nice guy that can't produce W's.

His post game interview said it all ...

  6. What do you guys think of the Nazzy theory?

MG steps back and be President.

Nazzy comes in to be GM.

Nazzy gets to decide whether Torts stay or go ... he axes Torts and because Nazzy has clout/credit with fan base, no one is upset that he fires Torts and bring in new coach.

Everyone saves face including owner and MG ... except of course, Torts, he is the scapegoat.
