So our only picks so far, Podkolzin & Hoglander. Then we traded our 3rd, and traded back with our 4th. Do I got that right?
Between this Miller trade & trying to keep up with garbage NHL network coverage its been hard to follow.
We traded our 4th for a later 4th and a 5th.
Edit: or maybe 4th and 6th, I don't remember. I am sleepy.

Its NHL Network. Sportsnet just takes there feed for day 2. They do this every year. Thats why draft tracker is a must.
I've just been listening to 1040 & muting the TV.
Ah, I see.
I'll admit though, I enjoyed Burke's vocal antics yesterday. He was hilarious.

This has honestly been some of the worst draft coverage (including the first round) that I've ever seen.
Sportsnet is a national embarrassment.

Yeah it was expensive but the last thing I want is to waste Petey's ELC years the way Edmonton did McDavids.
I agree. You can't chase a perpetual rebuild forever. If they have confidence in the core of prospects we have and feel this is a good move, then so be it. It could come back to bite us in the backside, but at the end of the day it happened and I hope the risk works out. We also added two really nice prospects this year in the first two rounds.
I just want to watch the team playing fun hockey, and having another top six forward who can play now and is only 26 is conducive to that.

So Boeser for Zucker is moronic.
But giving up a potential lottery pick that can be a better player than Boeser for Miller is not.
Nice to know we’re dealing with rational fans here
Tangible assets are always going to hold more value than draft picks.

Its because people care. People have wanted a proper rebuild since 2013. And this organization always cuts corners.
Just feels hopeless that we'll get back to top contender status.
I mean, I get that people care. But at the end of the day, it's just sports. Trades you don't like happen, and they're always going to happen regardless of the management group and players involved. It's part of being a fan of a team, what's the point in letting it ruin your day and going into a blind rage? There isn't one. It's a lot more fun to discuss the trade for it's positives and negatives rather than overwhelming upset s---posting.
That's not really directed at you either, because I know you know how to talk hockey. It's just part of CDC that I don't like.

Does it really need to be explained why us trading away a first round pick is a bad idea?
Benning supporters defend him no matter what. He could trade Boeser for Jason Zucker & they'd find a way to spin it.
Its almost as exhausting as giving up 1st for Miller, 2nd+prospects for Gudbranson, 3rd for Pedan, 2nd for Vey, exc. exc. exc.
Ugh
I'm not really a Benning fan, but by the reactions in this thread you'd think he personally massacred everyone's dogs and cats.

Benning tradition*
Benning doesn't give CDC posters the tantrum temperament of a toddler who just got told he can't have a bag of chips.
That's on y'all.

It's fun to go through this thread chronologically.
Pages 1-5: Great pickup, love the guy, fits in well as. Hopefully didn't give up a 2nd round pick.
Pages 6-8: Still good. As long as it's not a 1st round pick Benning will be our God-Emperor.
Pages 8-Now: Oh it's a 1st round pick *@(%U*(UAOJFOISJ{ )@_%!)%_!%
As is CDC tradition.

JT Miller sort of reminds me of a winger version of Horvat in some ways, which is cool. I think he'll fit well in our top six.

I'm remembering why I stopped posting here very much.
Even if you dislike something, throwing a fit like a five year old over hockey is the stupidest look.
I'm not a huge fan of the trade, but God damn guys.

Conditional makes it acceptable to me. He's a top six forward on a good contract. Would much rather go that route than signing another brutal UFA contract.

The conditional first is a bit iffy though, but idc I like cool players.

I really like this pick for a project goalie. He's also got a cool name.
