Already moved to the other one. They lost an opportunity to directly involve stakeholders on this earlier on in the process. Marketing hit to the team on this one. We will continue elsewhere and it will lead to less traffic to their site as a result. No marketing opportunities directly through the team anymore.

I thought it's monthly?, which doesn't really change #1 considering the amount of traffic this site gets.
Yeah you’re right. Mixed up the post. Either way 150 CAD monthly is still not a significant cost for a multi-billionaire dollar empire.
Unless mods are on payroll, then it’s maybe a different thing. With VC and SN and other mods suggesting stepping back in the future from the new site, there’s definitely some pieces we don’t know. Maybe it’s just a reflection time for some.
Whatever the cause, this was sprung on us without any rationale. And that parts not cool.

The ride might not be over...
You would think they would have done their due diligence on this.
#1 - If it's a money thing - ridiculous
#2 - If it's a team engagement or "media control" thing - ridiculous
#3 - If it's a league-issued mandate - then there is no way they would be able to navigate it anyways.
The fact they're agreeing to discuss with potential stakeholders suggests it's #1 or #2. And based on the price point the new site is set up under (150 CAD annually), it really does lead me to consider this is all part of #2 with their new social marketing branding this summer. I'm glad they're giving us more videos and more insight. But to throw out something that's been built up over 20 years. Sad.

Haven’t been on here much in recent years, but this is sad news. CDC was my first forum and I’ve been around since 2004. Met multiple people in real life from here and had lots of fun playing mafia in White Noise. This sucks

Even though I have rarely been here in the last several years, this is a crime.
I guess it doesnt matter if I say something that gets me banned now.
f**k this teams owner.
I started losing interest in this team after the last lockout.... and every decision they have made since then has alienated me more & more to the point I just stopped caring about this team in the last 3-4 seasons.
It also killed my interest in this place when they purged the posts. No way to go back & see the 10K+ posts I had done before..... they were just gone some random day.
Francesco Aquilini is a disgrace to this franchise.
Hes Mark Messier, but scummier.... and thats a hard thing to accomplish.
To all the 2000s regulars, was great going back & forth with you all on so many topics in Canuck talk, league talk, Off topic, and of course White Noise.
Thank you to KMad for tweeting about this, or I wouldnt have known this was happening.
To any newcomers that are here, just starting a journey that is getting cut down too soon, sorry. I've been on here just about 20 years, and that included some of my favorite years on any site. I dont think there is any chat board I was on longer. Just one more reason for me to say f**k this team, and f**k this league of overpaid assholes.
Anyways, good luck to all of you that end up migrating to other chat boards.Now.... for me to read through this whole thread & see who I might actually remember.
The purge was the end of posting much as well for me. I used to keep track on a word pad document during university. Was trying to hit each new 1000 posts as quickly as possible. The purge led to just browsing.

More than 2 decades on here. Such a terrible way to start this season. It started getting too corporate when they removed all of the Off-Topic posts last year. I guess this was the next step. Didn't want official branded information to be criticizing the team.

I think Silovs starts in Abby is 1A, and has some call-ups for possible backup starts when Vancouver and Abby are both in town.
i think Martin gets a shot as backup, but it could be the Canucks waive him to be 1B behind Silovs in Abby and picks up any number of waiver designated goalies at the end of training camp. Chances are the backup only gets 1 or 2 games in October anyways, the waiver pickup would have time to work with Clark
Totals in NHL:Demko (60)
Waiver Pickup (15)
Silovs (7)
AHL: Martin and Silovs and Sawchenko
ECHL: Tolapilo

Let's assume that Irwin is slotted for 3LD with Wolanin and Juulsen as 4LD and 4RD respectively.
Let's also assume the Canucks average about 5 PPs per game, while also needing 5 PK per game.
For PP, pretty straight forward:
PP1
Hughes
5 minutes
PP2
Hronek
5 minutes
For PK, let's assume everyone kills some amount, with Hughes getting scaled back, maybe as PK3 right at the end of the penalty for transition to offense:
PK1
Cole
4 minutes
PK1
Soucy
4 minutes
PK2
Myers
4 minutes
PK2
Irwin
4 minutes
PK3
Hughes
2 minutes
PK3
Hronek
2 minutes
That leaves 40 minutes of ES time in the game, with 2 defensemen on the ice.
Let's assume that Hughes pair (ie. with Cole?) and Hronek pair (with Soucy) average about 15 minutes of ES time each. With the third pairing of Irwin and Myers getting 10 minutes of ES time.
ES
Hughes
15 minutes
ES
Cole
15 minutes
ES
Hronek
15 minutes
ES
Soucy
15 minutes
ES
Irwin
10 minutes
ES
Myers
10 minutes
That puts the final ice times, on average, around the following:
Hughes
22 minutes
Hronek
22 minutes
Cole
18 minutes
Soucy
18 minutes
Myers
14 minutes
Irwin
14 minutes
I could live with that distribution. Myers maybe even a little higher some nights, getting 15-16.

I still think the Canucks go look for a partner for Hughes.
Hughes - _______
Soucy - Hronek
Cole - Myers (if not traded)
Wolanin - Juulsen

There's the 3rd line center?

Prices are elevated for 3rd pairing defensemen.... 3 million+ for guys like Clifton, Gudas, etc.

Too bad. That's a great deal for Boston.

Myers to SJ for Sturm would clear SJs cap for future years and they could spin Myers at the deadline.
