The previous season he had 40 points in 49 games until he wrecked his knee and ended his ironman streak.  The next year, he was about a half-point per game for half the season and then got traded.  He was never the same after the knee injury.  He went from a 70-point-player to a 40 point player, and from one of the fastest players in the NHL (3rd in the All-Star game contest I think) to not particularly notable speed-wise.

As for the losing efforts of Game 7 in 1994 and the Olympic Semifinal in 1998...  It's a team game, and in both instances, he was the ONLY player to score for his team (2 goals in game 7, one in 1998).  In both instances, sans Linden, the team would have been completely shut out in the elimination game, and these were lineups that included Wayne Gretzky, Pavel Bure, Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic...

Good post with some valid points.

Linden was one of the most clutch players that ever suited up in the NHL.  Few, if any, got more out of what they had in the most important games...  Game 7 vs the Rangers, elimination game in the 98 Olympics, playoffs in general.

Burrows is a clutch player, but I don't think he's in the running for #1.

    Whatever, it's all opinion anyway.

"Game 7 vs the Rangers, elimination game in the 98 Olympics, playoffs in general." Both losing efforts. Game 6, what did he do that was infamous? He got chopped down. Linden did have his clutch moments, but he seems to be remembered far more favorably that what was reality. Can anyone remember how far his play had dropped before he got traded? He was being criticized heavily for lackluster play until AFTER he was traded. Cue bass solo!

    Nope.

    Hints:
-He played a total of 19 games for the Canucks
    -Drafted by the Canucks
    -Defenceman

Nope, come on people!! Dave Richter, played two seasons with the Canucks and during his career he took on future Canucks GMS Mike Gillis and Jim Benning. Cuuuuuuue bass solo!!!

  4. A slightly new take on this forum. Name the one time Canuck who had 2 fights against players who would go on to be GM of The Canucks. The 2 players who would go on to be GM, were back to back on this players fight card.

  5. This is kind of interesting! When some people refuse to answer questions directly they often get accused of tap dancing around the issues. It might be funny if when that happens from now on someone just shows him the video below. Maybe kind of like talk to the hand type of sass!
