    2 possibilities:

    a) we are trading Boeser for 3x 1st round picks so Ferland fits into the current cap room

    b) a trade coming to get rid of Eriksson and/or Sutter

    Actually 3 possibility

    C Send down two contracts to the Ahl to free up 2 million dollars. (gives us 7.5 million to sign boeser);

    Well good on them.

I think we have now established that mentoring, encouraging, coaching and praising the rookies in public is fine but let us keep the criticism inside the locker room.

They really never said much criticism, which was  jakes hit was late which it was and again said by the coach and GM, Down played winning games when we were out and put importance of winning games through out the regular season (most likely alluding to next year) and that single quote of how Daniel Sedin expects more of the rookies which might have been accidental as they believe they have allot of potential and skill and if it wasn't so raw the canucks would be in the playoffs.

Well I said at the time he was right to call it a late hit because everyone and his uncle could see it was.

As for the other stuff I don't agree with the coach calling out any of his players in public although having said that WD did heap a lot of praise on Virtanen AND defended him vehemently after the WJCs

What WD and JB have to realise is just how much of a self destructive media Vancouver has. The less given to them the better imo.

The sedin's also had a whole lot of praise for the rookies too and did hold a training camp to teach them how professionals work out in the off-season (which they had no obligation to do so).

Boom you have a Vey... Boom you have a Clendening... Boom.

It's not all roses, and there's no guarantee an offseason with Granlund on the right program does the trick.

I don't know but I do see something special in Granlund than I ever did with Vey or Clendening. He's already more of a complete player than vey at the age of 22. I also think his ability to distribute the puck is at an elite level. All he needs to do is get faster and he would be a fourth or third liner with upside.

Larsen: will come because the KHL is in serious financial trouble. Many contracts now in rubles and also cases of paydays missed.

Biega: likely displaced by Larsen. IMHO fans should not think that Biega has topped out. Last year his first full season and I suspect he comes back better.

Hamhuis: Not resigned as there is no room for his TOI. Canucks are rebuilding not contending. Edler-Tanev-Hutton-Sbisa are the vets. There has to be room for 2 rookies: Tryamkin, Pedan, or Larson

Hutton isn't a vet and sbisa himself is still developing and finding his way in the NHL.

  6. That is a completely emotional response and has nothing to do with what he was saying, which was that the guys in the AHL are vastly better than the ones in Collage hockey. He is a good goalie coach as seen with his work on markstrom and he knows what he is doing regardless of how bad of a goalie might think he was.

This would piss me off so bad.

"Really Dan? They shoot at the corners in this league? Do they also shoot from centre ice?"

why he's utica's goalie coach and he's just saying that he needs to be ready when he comes to the AHL. He would know he's the goalie coach.

Should we have gotten a second round pick back instead of Granlund?  This is a great draft, with some exciting D prospects in round two.

depends if there was a second round offered because baert only got an offer of a second from us and he put up better numbers in the ahl than shink. We most likely would have only gotten a 3rd round pick.

There's just really nothing to look forward to with him imo. His speed isn't good, even if he gains some weight he'll be nothing more than a 3rd liner. I still think Shinkaruk could have been a pretty good scoring 3rd liner. He's much more aggressive and physical than Granlund as well and they're pretty much the same size.

Trade just makes no sense to me when we have Hank, Horvat, Sutter, McCann, Vey, Gaunce, etc as centers, could have traded Shink at the draft in a package or something.

Shink is not good enough defensively to be a thirdliner (never will be) its a high scoring top 6 forward or bust.

Great point. Jones was a backup to Quick, went undrafted and had only 34 games NHL experience and he went for a first last year. Markstrom is already proven at the NHL level and most teams can see he is ready to be a full time starter with almost 100 games of NHL experience.

If Markstrom is put on the trading block a first round pick would be just the starting point in a trade. The only negative is he is UFA in a year so that may affect his value. But if Benning can sign him to a long term deal in the summer then his trade value will sky rocket.

well jones might be an exception as talbot, and lack didn't get firsts. Considering Frederik Andersen is also on the market and there aren't many teams in need of a goaltender maybe carolina, and calgary.

800,000 over three seasons is millions, no?  You really should keep on that helmet the doctor prescribed.

But where will he break out? Sedin - Sutter - Horvat - Granlund. He'll be playing on the 4th line, yet he has terrible possession stats and FO win %. I can't get why management thought he was the right fit for this team. I guess he could be a decent 3rd line winger if he can put up some points.

Hunter is 22 years old, Boeser is 19. Hunter played and was developed under Green and showed he can produce against men in a professional league. Boeser has played very well in but in University hockey against other kids. How would Boeser be closer?

Green the developer himself said Hunter isn't good enough defensively. Our fourth line could potentially be Etem- Granlund - Rodin or  Burrows-granlund-Virtanen. He plays wing and mcann if he improves could potentialy be our fourthline center  so we could see a shut down lines of granlund-horvat-etem/virtanen or a second line of granlund-Sutter-Virtanen/etem/ufa. There are endless possibility.

Granlund is pretty close to what you see is what you get. I think next season is just about his breaking point. at 23-24 years old. players generally don't improve that much more at that age. what you see is generally the type of player you will receive. Granlund - it'll be interesting to see what kind of season he has next year. especially playing perhaps with more seasoned players. and hopefully with more confidence. would like to see what he can do with more confidence. here's hoping he has a good summer.

The way I see he's either going to break out offensively by the end of the next season like baertschi and establish himself as a centerman who can get 40-50 points or he's going to be someone who could put up 30 maybe 40 but is very good defensively.
