Most of our players don’t have much value right now but when they find their way, where’s Miller, Garland, etc if we’re doing a full rebuild . No to trading Hughes as he’s still very young and the best d we have ever had. If we’re trading Hughes, might as well trade Petey and Demko. Horvat is one of the few players that give a crap right now. Will play along though.

If we’re trading Hughes and add Demko to NJ, would be looking at Mercer, Mukhamudalin, Nemec and 1sts.

Miller to Bos for Lysell, 1st

    Garland for 2nd, b prospect

    Add cap where applicable

The issue is they lose value when we're not playing well, so we don't trade them.
Then when we they do play welll then the team doesn't want to trade them because they're needed to help us make the playoffs.

It's been an endless cycle for years.

I agree, there were a few RHD who were FA that we could have looked at. I get the team lacks speed and was horrible on the PK but spending nearly 5m on yet another winger definitely seems like a bad way to improve a hockey team that has a major weakness on D. Hopefully things will turn around and if the cap goes up 4m it means players and agents will ask for more as FA but also gives the team some more $$$ to spend.

I agree 100%. I thought it was weird right away when we signed Mickeyev.

To have to sit a quality player like Hoglander or Garland every game going forward (until there are injuries) is inexcusable, especially when we are scraping the barrel to put out 6 defensemen that can minimally do their job. Giving Dickinson another chance to improve his value and to use that $$ and picks on a defensemen would've been ideal.

As many of us has said though, as much as we love Miller, I think we could all see that last year was the time to trade him. Teams that are great endure the short term pain for long term gain. One of the reasons Colorado became so good was because of the Duchene trade. Now we're seeing Ottawa start to rise up because of the players they got in the trade for Karlsson (Stutzle and Norris).

Now we're likely going to have to trade picks/prospects along with Miller in 4-5 seasons to rid ourselves of that contract.
