  1. I don't know how EA has failed to really make progress in this game for SO long.

The preview itself has the puck going through Quick's glove. They went from producing the best sport game 10 years ago, to being incredibly far behind now. Someone call 2K and tell them to get something out there

  2. With Paches going down for awhile, Carolina now has the cap space to add someone dominant like Miller. With the likelihood of someone else going on LTIR for them in the season, it could work out where all their players will be back for playoffs.

    To Carolina: JT Miller

To Vancouver: Martin Necas, Scott Morrow, 1st round pick, Conditional 2nd round pick 2024 (if Carolina makes it to the final 4, it becomes a 1st round pick)

With Necas' cap hit, Carolina loses roughly 2M in cap. Next season Jordan Staal needs a new contract and likely will sign for much cheaper then the 6M he's making right now, allowing Carlina to extend Miller if they like.

Pretty heavy price to pay but Miller would dominate in their top 6.

We are at $81.75 million without Ferland, which means we would be operating in LTIR next year which is not ideal.  We should be at $82.5 million WITH Ferland, or slightly below so we have some wiggle room in terms of calling guys up.  I highly doubt that JR wants to operate in LTIR money next year, which is why I was puzzled when he signed Mikheyev to that huge contract but didn't ship anyone out.

I'm assuming a trade is coming but with all the teams being tight with the cap it may not be possible to move any money out without money coming back in, so we may have no choice but to operate in LTIR next year.

Agreed. Is it worth moving out players if they are going to cost us some picks (even 3rd and 4th rounders)?
I think it's unfortunate that moving out currently players also has a negative impact on our future...

  4. Anybody else annoyed at how Rutherford and Alvin talked a big talk when they first came on, and have failed to really do anything out there...

It bothered me how Rutherford was talking about how he was surprised how hard it is to move money... hasn't this guy been around the NHL since 1970? This shouldn't be knew news to him.

I want to remain optimistic, but past experience has told me that we may not move Miller at all and will likely lose him for nothing...

Flames have a legit chance this year imo. I would go for it too. I would almost root for them if it weren’t for Tkachuk and Anderson, can’t stand those guys. I imagine the Avs will take them out though

It's wild cause we could've selected Tkachuk and Andersson was taken with the 2nd round pick we gave to Calgary for Baertschi

Lammikko has been brilliant but he works so well with Motte and Highmore when he's in. Lammikko is proving that he can play just as well as Motte too. Many teams don't have 1 guy like Motte and we have 2, maybe 3. Finally we have a decent lock of a 4th line (but ice-time wise they're probably our 3rd line).

Even if Juolevi is a regular bottom pairing defenceman, this trade is another minor win for JB.

I don't know if you could call it a win when the whole world was wanting Matthew Tkachuk over Juolevi

  7. Are people seriously calling for 2 games?!

An intentional knee-on-knee is MAYBE 2 games.. this was an intentional knee to the head!

We saw Tavares go down for a similar thing. Who cares if he's a "class act", if you're intentionally kneeing a guy in the head, which can have serious-long term effects on a player, then you should pay for your actions.
