Also Faber said the same thing.   Which is So Confusing because if he were under contract with the KHL wouldn't he be in Russia preparing? why would he be here in Vancouver?   We need to know for sure.

The only thing that I found in Russian language internet was news from July 10 that Zlodeyev had (at a time) a contract with Spartak Moscow until the end of 23-24 season and that he was invited to the Canucks training camp. The article also said that if Zlodeyev attends the camp he will be in violation of section 1.6 of chapter 5 in KHL regulations. Of course, I looked it up and that’s where it gets weird. Chapter 5 is “Responsibilities of the Player”, but section 1.6 states that the player must pass anti doping course online. If anything, some other sections might apply here. For example, 1.4 - “Participate in sport competitions only at the direction of the club”. Or 1.29 about “providing professional services exclusively to the club…”. Or the closest must be 1.33 - “Not to play for any other team and not to participate in any other sport activities without written permission of the club”. Yet there’s nothing anywhere about Zlodeyev’s contract being terminated.

How dare you besmirch Jason King's name? Vote for Rory!

But in all seriousness it is surprising how long it's been since a solid contributor has worn 18 for the Canucks. Hopefully Klimovich can channel his inner Igor Larionov and not Virtanen.

Lol, if you knew the kid, you would know that channeling Virtanen is simply not possible for Danila :-)

Just because I think we won't be able to shift him sadly

He only has 3 years left on his contract, including this upcoming season. So, in 3 years his contract will be gone regardless. And in 2 years - it's highly likely he's either traded or bought out.

I'd like to think we end up drafting 20+ next year but we'll see. As for the future, it is a bit exciting, who knows which prospects will pan out or not. Johansson in the AHL could really be an NHL guy sooner rather than later too. I think in 2-3 years, we'll see a team like this:

    Mikheyev - Pettersson - Lekkerimaki

    Kuzmenko - Miller - Podkolzin

    Hoglander - Raty - Garland

    Joshua - Aman - ?

    Hughes - Willander

    Soucy - Hronek

    Hirose - Johansson

    Rathbone?

    Pettersson?

Garland on the roster in 2-3 years? That's quite a reach. Put Klimovich on Raty's right side - and we've got a very nice roster.

One disadvantage to owning a home in the US - say a snow bird thing, you then have to file a tax return with the US.   Doesn't mean you have to pay the man,  but it is annoying.   Unless that's changed recently anyways.   We've looked at it, when you could buy something that would cost 2-3 million in the lower mainland for 100k during the 2009 financial crisis.    Turns you off a little.

At the end of the day these guys all get paid in US funds.   But where they play and live is where they pay taxes.   One little interesting tidbit, is players in WSH, have three options for where they live in that city.   Two are 4-5% lower than one of them.   Canucks ... doesn't take long to get to 53% plus tax bracket.    League min pay half ... by the time you're making 1.5ish you're getting the full meal tax bracket.    Most US teams pay way less taxes than any Canadian team.   Alberta teams actually aren't as bad (low provincial taxes), better than CALI and NY teams.    The Canucks used to be the same as Alberta teams during the peak Sedin era and WCE era.

JR said he was wrong about what he thought it would take to move money out and sign guys in this market.   Used to PIT and 41% bracket.    JB .. always seemed to have to add a year in his deal or an extra couple hundred K.     Miller lost 550k per year after his trade to Vancouver.   He for sure did the team a solid with his next deal...that's like 6.5 in TB.

The other thing is a certain amount of taxes is owed when playing in certain US cities, only for players in US states.   That gets complicated.  Fortunately there is a calculator by gavingroup, those things are all built in.   Have a look anyone.   It's pretty shocking.   Bobrovsky, Barkov and anyone else making 10 million in no state tax teams - take home a little more than McDavid does at 12.5.   COL also has low taxes.   McKinnon is making a lot more than McDavid too.

Simply looking at the numbers in the screenshot tell me this calculator is bs. Income tax is progressive tax. You don’t pay the top tax rate on your entire income. Here goes the credibility…

If it's simply the trolls then they should be more active in monitoring the thread.  Moving it to the Adults table was just the easy way out to avoid having to monitor it.  Someone could always volunteer to monitor that thread specifically and get rid of the trolls instantly before it becomes a problem...

I can volunteer to do that :-)

If the Canucks are offered this deal they take it and run (after getting the contract signed ASAP).

Petey will come in above this. I am hoping that the minimum 2-digt number (10 million) x 8 might be enough but I wouldn't count on it.

One issue is taxes. Florida is a low-tax state. All the Canadian teams are at a disadvantage with high income tax rates and BC is worse than Alberta.

The other issue is that the Cap is expected to rise significantly in the two seasons following 23-24.

It always makes me laugh when people talk about “low tax” in Florida (and some other states). Do you guys realize that US tax structure is very similar to Canadian? There’s a much larger federal income tax that everybody pays. In the US it’s 37% for the tax bracket NHL players are in. I’m not saying state/provincial taxes are not important, but they are much smaller compared to the federal tax.

Maybe we should try and get back Rodrigo Abols.  Big dude.  He was our 7th round pick in 2016...

Also, that picture tells me that Silovs is definitely not 6'4".  The guy beside him, Rodrigo Abols, is 6'4".  No way they are the same height, even with the goalie skate difference.  The other guy on the far left is 6'0" and is taller than Silovs.  With the goalie skate difference, I would say Silovs is 6'2" maximum...

I agree, Artur is about 6’2”. He’s about the same height as Danila.

I hope he takes MMA because this kids got giant stones and he likes to stick up for himself and teammates which makes me worry because he’d drop em even if it’s not in his best interest it’s just the way he’s wired.

I highly doubt he will be dropping them often - he hates fighting.

Wow, I loved how you didn't address any of my points that underscored why they aren't similar.

Here, you've made some surface level generalizations that are consistent with a couple of leaders, such as Stalin. Haha.

Does that mean Stalin is similar to Hitler then? If so, how do their political ideologies differ?

Here are the points that you are unable to address.

Economically, Putin is doing nowhere near as well as Hitler did. Same with the military. Hitler's generals used blitzkrieg tactics masterfully and their units were well coordinated for the most part. Putin's generals have yet to demonstrated even a fraction of this success.

While Hitler used concentration camps on gays, Jews, and other peoples, he largely hid this from the population because of how unpopular this initiative was in the minds of the public. In fact, Hitler gauged his political talking points based on how the population reacted. If they didn't like it (i.e Kristallnacht), Hitler was actually willing to backtrack. Putin doesn't show the same willingness.

We don't have to talk about the political ideologies because they're not even remotely close.

Actually, Stalin and Hitler are a lot more alike than different. Surprise...

As for Putin's economy - you are only looking at the economic situation in russia in the recent years. In first years of his presidency russian economy was doing extremely well. So, who is cherry picking, really? Or is your cherry-picking more legitimate because you are "history graduate"?

Anyway, as others rightfully mentioned - this topic is about Elias Petterson's King Clancy nomination. I'll be happy to continue this conversation in other, more appropriate threads.
