That is quite a terrible take considering you are lying.  Neither Petterson or Hughes played immediately on the Canucks roster after being drafted.  That is just straight up not true.

Petterson played in Sweden for a year after being drafted, so he was a prospect in the system.

Quinn played in college for a year after being drafted... so yes he was also a prospects.

Our prospect pool that had names like Petterson, Hughes, Demko, Podkolzin, etc was much better before they all graduated to the big club.  There has been a very good player in the prospect pool up until recently.  Now there are none.

You don't have to believe me, our prospect pool ranking was really high compared with other teams back when those guys were part of it.  We now have one of the worst in the NHL according to all the lists made up.  That is especially stunning considering we have been a bottom feeder so long and that generally means getting good draft picks.

However, there's one thing that is different between us and the other teams at the bottom of the prospects ranking - the average age of the NHL team. We are one of the youngest teams in the NHL because so many of our top prospects graduates to the big club. The other teams at the bottom of the prospect ranking (Boston, Tampa, etc.) are all on the older side of the average age in NHL. All that has to be taken into account, not just pure prospects ranking.

I don't really understand this though, There was talk about Johansson (22-year old RD) possibly joining the team soon (next season?), but then out of nowhere they signed a 19-year old 7th rounder, but plan to keep him where he is. Geez, does Allvin get a bonus for the number of Russians he signs?

Who said these 2 things are mutually exclusive? Johansson is already signed.

How much money did those teams spend during that time, and how many draft picks did those teams trade out versus acquire?

Sure, let’s change the topic when the initial premise was proven wrong. That’s exactly what Drance would do lol.

I don't know, you could probably google it though.

Check how many teams have averaged a worse record than us during that tenure too. That'd be fun to see.

Let’s see - Montreal, Columbus, Detroit, New Jersey, Ottawa, Edmonton, Arizona, Seattle (by points percentage) and Buffalo. Not many, but also not as few as you implied. I guess you didn’t expect someone to call out your bs…

Depending on how Hronek pans out; he is likely the replacement for Tyler Myers who, IMO, will be bought out or traded in the off season. Hronek is 8 years younger and cheaper and will not be an RFA with arbitration rights till 2024-25. There could be some cap savings if Myers is moved. Still have some hope for both Schenn and Livingstone to be part of the D next season.

Myers will not be bought out since 5 mil out of his 6 mil for the next season is a bonus. As a result, the buyout will only save us $666,667 in cap hit next season. Even simply putting him in the minors will give us more cap savings (around $1 mil).

Well....a conditional 1st and two 2nds?  One of them being conditional?

Kinda seems a bit crazy what we just paid for Hronek now doesn't it when you consider what the rumoured ask for Chycrun was.

    Love this for Ottawa

Read the conditions. Since you love the “ifs”, this can become two unprotected high first rounders

This right here is what's wrong with our fanbase.

It's always somebody else's fault with this fanbase, except ourselves. We can drill on the past over and over, but fail to address or acknowledge the present.

Horvat earned the right to market value. 7.25 and 8.50 is not that much of a difference. We just lowballed our former captain.

Our own fault? Please enlighten me, when do the fans put on jerseys and skates and try to win the games?

Are they trying Klim at C or has he always been listed as a C on here...whoever made his thread was just hoping we would draft more C's maybe so wanted to list him as a C over wing!?!?

It was a mistake by the thread creator. He never played C in his life and there're no plans to convert him to that position at the moment,

  9. I think we should all take a step back a bit with the whole “proven coaches” hysteria. If you take a look at the last 7 Stanley Cup winners, only Trotz with the Capitals was on his second NHL team. Every single other coach (Sullivan with Pittsburgh, Berube with St Louis, Cooper with Lightning and Bednar with Avalanche) all grew as coaches with their respective teams. For all of them their teams were their first NHL head coaching jobs. Perhaps we should stop worrying about bringing someone who already won the Cup and instead see if we can just find a good coach who can grow with the team.

Surprised to see him play some NHL games this year and quite well too (surprisingly good on the faceoffs). I hope we don't keep rushing him in and back and forth from Abbortsford. Let him play on their top line or 2nd line there for the rest of the year.

I think he'll be in the NHL next year for better or for worse, we just don't have a decent 3C option anymore and he'll probably come into training camp better than everyone we have.

I doubt he’ll be that high on the Abby roster. They have Nielsen, Dowling and Aman down the center. I wouldn’t be surprised if his development plan will look similar to Danila’s and would love to see them on the same line. Ideally, i would love to see Raty - Klimovich - Bains line in Abby to finish the season.

I can see another year for Klim in Abbey. The coaching in Abby should likely make that call. If the number of deals go down that I am hoping for Abby could have a number of adds to the mix.

The plan has Danila in the Abby for at least one more year.

Do you still keep in touch with him Roman? He is having a great year. It's great to see his confidence growing so much. Totally different player than last year. I'm rooting for him hard! I think we all are.

Yes, I do. He's doing great. I'm planning to head to Abby's game some time soon.

That was almost the goal of the year. Klimovich looks like a bigger version of Pavel Bure. I think he has more raw talent than Podkolzin.

He’s only 19 as well. I said a long time ago he is better than Dylan Guenther. I still stand by that comment. He’s a top 6 player in the NHL.

If we can land one of the 3 centres in the draft this year we should be set for the next decade.

    Petey and Kuzy

    Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson and Klimovich

Small correction - he turned 20 on January 9th.

Are Podkolzin and Klimovich playing on the same line?  Seems a pretty big coincidence that as soon as Podkolzin arrived in Abby that Klimovich has upped his game big time.

At 19 he is a point a game guy for the last 8 games.  If he keeps this up he could be in the NHL next year.  Play him with Miller and Podzilla...

    Kuzmenko   Pettersson   Mikheyev

    Podkolzin    Miller            Klimovich

The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming...   :frantic:

Sorry, but Danila is not russian… ::D. Also, this thread has been labeled wrong from the beginning, multiple people already pointed it out lol. The kid hasn’t played a centre not even once in his life.
