  1. Yup lets keep Kesler and stick him between Kassian and Ritchie... I wonder how many opposing players would suddenly get the Flu.

Ritchie prob wouldn't be ready in time to benifit Kesler much, heck, if he takes as long as Kassian, then Kass himself will be Keslers age by then.

Like the idea, but think the best way to do it would be by trading that pick for the right winger. That or signing one for $.

  2. Horvat-Kesler-Kassian sometime in the next couple years.

For all the people saying we need a playmaker at 2C (for whatever reason??) I don't see Toes racking up the assists, still has yet to hit 70 points again, never sniffed Keslers 50 assist high. He's a goal scorer 1st, with better wingers, better team........treated like a god.

  3. Don't care if they like him, but they should respect their teammates, otherwise they are the problem. He is better than they are, and did a lot more this season for us that any forward. 25g on the most pathetic offensive team in Franchise history is a miracle. He was passing well all year too, but don't do much with guys like Hansen 3rd wheeling you.

  4. Kesler is not a good PLAYMAKING center period.

He's not great, but certainly good. Man is more than a capable set-up artist, has hit 50 assist before, not because he was a better passer, but because his wingers scored goals. Only Kesler has kept up his goal scoring, so obviously his assists are gonna take a hit.

While he is a shoot 1st player, that is by no means a bad thing. We want our best scorer to shoot. It also creates rebound chances = playmaking. It's not Henrik pretty with no look passes and such, but it works. Kassian should be ready to fill that winger void next season. Maybe an FA too.

Henrik is one of the best playmakers in the game, but no matter how good he is, take away the goalscoring beside him, and he can't even break 50 points.

  5. Kesler is 29, no reason he should walk a UFA, nor any reason we should let it come to that point. Kassian and Tanev are our best young players, will be 24-25 next season. If we wait 3 or 4 years for our next couple draft picks to start contributing, they will be pushing Keslers age... Half or more of their primes wasted while re-building. Same goes for guys like Lack, Stanton, Santa, B-Rad, Matthias ect who are all ready to compete now, or very soon. Injecting some youth is fine and all, but shouldn't take half a decade.

The league is loaded with guys older than Kes that are tearing it up, many of which weren't as good as Kes in his peak 2 years.

  6. Lots of guys were having great seasons until injuries kicked in. Kesler is still at his usual goal total, despite an awful offensive team. Higgins is having a good year, Santarelli re-ignited his career. Bieksa started with a monster season, same with Henrik who was top 3-5 in scoring for a couple months.

Tanev has been our best d-man, took a big jump in his progression and is taking heavy minutes. Kassian is starting to turn into the player we all hoped he'd be. Richardson has far exceeded expectations. Even Sestito has shown some flair.

Most of the players that have tanked, have been doing so for years, and should have been expected to continue doing so. Daniel has been a shell of himself since the concussion, Edler has gotten worse every year for 3 seasons now, Hansen was never a true scorer, as hot and cold as they come.

Garrison is really the only surprising decline, hasn't been good on D, but putting up decent points. Burrows as well, but he was just the unluckiest guy ever this year, too many injuries all at the worst times. Booth too, but he has done well as of late.

1 more year is fine by me.

  7. Lol.

But for real...we cant score and dont have the tending to win one goal games with enough consistency with all due respect to that beauty; lack.

Tough Times are upon us again.

Admit I had some premature doubts, but Kassian and Jensen look legit. If we keep Kesler, and Hank + Burr have a decent bounce back, our top 6 might not be so pathetic. Still think we need a top tier offensive prospect, but w/e, maybe we hit gold this year.

Wouldn't mind a Cammelleri signing, that guys still got it, impressive season especially considering injuries and the team he plays on.
