    1.  If you spend your cap on Hronek, it will hamper signing other players as well.

    2.  No, signing Hronek isn’t going to be cheaper than an equivalent UFA, the economy of hockey hasn’t worked like that at all for a decade.  Signing him to an extension starting at 26 is not going to be different than signing him or an equivalent UFA at 27.

    3.  The prospects aren’t slam dunks, but they are high end players.  Hronek isn’t a slam dunk either, and we will be paying him a lot more.

    4.  How is being better this year and next going to get us closer to a Cup?  If everything goes right and lots of players have career years we might fight for a wildcard spot.  We still owe raises to our top players using up cap space that gets freed up and have one of the worst prospect pools in the league.
    5.  Having the high end prospects coming in on ELCs is how you are able to afford UFAs and giving raises to guys like Petterson.

While I agree with most of your points here.

The prospects drafted in the mid first round based on historical data have about a 50-60% chance of playing over 100 games. The chances of them being a high end player is even lower.

Hronek is a proven top 4 already at 25 with room to grow still. He is absolutely a slam dunk imo.

Rebuild means your opinion is Demko, Hughes, and Petey aren’t worth building around. I think you’re way off. We have three superstars and Miller and Hronek are stars. We have an excellent core five. And as a group they are young. Just entering their prime. It would be completely moronic to dump guys like Petey and Hughes.

Imagine if the Avalanche had gone through a rebuild like many Canuck fans are asking for and sold Mackinnon Landeskog and Rantanen instead of building around them. They won the cup because they surrounded their core with solid players through trades. ROR, Duchene and acquired solid pieces like Toews Manson Kadri etc.

they're not trading Hughes for one player, they'd get multiple young players and a 1st most likely

    sign me up

A late first that’s likely to bust.

I get why you’d be happy to do it. But I’m not ok with trading a ppg dman in his prime for a few lottery tickets.  The young players we will be receiving likely won’t come near Hughes upside.

Also on a team that’s worst in the league at zone breakouts it just doesn’t make any sense to trade our only dman who can effectively exit the zone. Our offense will suffer greatly.

Even if we were to tear it down and rebuild you’d rebuild around Hughes and Petey, not trade him and get a bunch of lesser assets thus extending the rebuild.

Nemec isn’t anywhere near the value of the three together. It doesn’t matter if he will be the no 1 1D in NHL. He can’t be a Hughes.
It seems you only look at one Hughes…

We don’t even know he will be a 1D in the NHL. But sure let’s trade our proven elite puck moving 1D for a guy who might become one. Ridiculous how overhyped prospects are on here.

But you also have to consider that as Miller gets older he might lose a step and have to switch to wing.

Or that Pettersson can’t handle the duties of being a number 1 center, especially with the physical matchups in the playoffs.

Im not sold on our center depth enough to be willing to let anyone go. Not until we build up some actual depth in that position. We very well may need all three centers on the future.

I agree with everything you said here.

Except we’ve all seen what Petey can do in the playoffs.

Minny St Louis and VGK were no slouches physically. They even targeted him and he was still able to put up better than a ppg.

He didn’t look like he was intimidated nor did it affect his game.

So...we make the playoffs. Not a contender but that's square one (which some ignore).

Who brings this if JT's not in the line up? The emotion and fire? I know, we have a few who do but his level of compete is exactly what is needed.

Rags apparently looking for a young 3rd line C in return. Maybe the Rags arent as high on Chytil as they were before?

Wasn’t he the other piece (along with a 1st) in all the media-driven hype frenzy of the TDL JTM deal that ppl still think mgmt failed to capitalize on?
    Interesting, haha.

Regardless of Rags need, some fan proposals:

    To DET for Joe Veleno

Lundkvist + 3rd round pick To DET for Zadina

    To MTL for Jake Evans

Part of a package to CHI for Kane

They can Package Chytil Lundkvist and a 1st for Pavel Zacha

  8. 1. Remove the shootout ( its like having a fastest skater competition to decide a team game its stupid)

    2. Get rid of game management, penalties should be called regardless of who's leading or who's got more PP opportunities. There's a reason why a team is drawing more penalties.

    3. Get rid of the instigator penalty.

    4. When a goalie loses his mask the play needs to be blown dead immediately. There’s a huge risk of serious injury with the current rules.

Can this roster get into the playoffs, and possibly do some damage?  (Trading Miller for a RD+)

    Podkolzin - Pettersson - Boeser

    Kuzmenko - Horvat - Garland

    Hoglander - Dickinson - Mikheyev

    Pearson - Lazar - Lockwood

    Joshua

    OEL - ??

    Hughes - Schenn

    Dermott - Myers

    Rathbone - Poolman

    Burroughs

    Demko

    Martin

We look pretty mediocre down the middle after Petey and Bo.

Dickinson supposedly a shut down centre needed Horvat to take over shut down duties earlier in the season. Would feel more comfortable with an Aston-Reese in his spot.

The D pretty much looks the same and for a team that struggled with zone exits outside Hughes it doesn’t bode well.

That said, I do think we can sneak in with that roster depending on the impact of Kuzmenko and our young guns taking steps forward.

Maybe Nashville wants to go deep in the playoffs.  Seems like they always have trouble scoring.

    Miller (50%) + Dickinson

    for

    Fabbro + Trenin + Glass + 1st 2023 (top 10 protected)

Nashville gets a top F at a cheap cap hit and a defensively sound C/W.

Canucks get a young RHD with top 4 potential, a coveted 1st, and a few young project players.

Love this trade, If we can somehow pry Jeannot from them that would be the cherry on top.

Probably should be careful who you call a project though before G.I. Joe comes and tells you who you can or can't call a project.

Darn right I brag, I've done things you couldn't imagine. Don't use the word prospect or project interchangeably. PM me if you want my address to discuss this face to face, I'll even pitch in gas money.

Oh man that’s great! Tell me more!

My opinion of who’s a prospect or who’s a project isn’t your business.

Also you sure you can afford a tank of gas grandpa? Maybe relax before you get a heart attack.

I never said it was a proper offer, I'm stating the difference between projects and prospects. For someone whose the messiah when it comes to determining good leadership through a TV I expected more attention to detail.

That’s rich coming from someone who brags about doing 20 plus years.  Good job you want a cookie?

When a prospect is already 23 and has a career high that matches his age and is still healthy scratched is that not a project?

You said projects not prospects, big difference.

They’re still projects and have lots of development left to even be long term nhl players. They’re certainly not blue chip prospects not even close.

Chytil while he was hot in the playoffs is wildly inconsistent and we’ve seen hot spurts like that before. He’s a project.

Lundkvist still needs a lot of development he’s got some decent tools but is still a project at this point and he’s fallen off the depth chart behind 3rd round pick Zac Jones.

this is not even close to a proper offer for Miller.

  14. 1 hour ago, Meh said:

Those are not the "projects". Wow you're so amazing. I can tell we are going to be best friends.

Oh really? Not a project? Lundkvist is behind Zac Jones on the Rangers depth chart and can't even crack the bottom pair. If you watch him play at all he's terrible. If he's not a project what is he?

Chytil likely doesn't even become a top 6 forward and before the little hot streak in the playoffs had shown absolutely nothing.

Also, why don't you check how many low first rounders make the NHL. You need to stop overrating prospects.

You're basically getting a third line C an AHL dman and likely another bust.
