  1. The goalie soap opera in Vancouver really set you guys back - nothing else could be done as the team seemed handcuffed on what to do. It was all because your owner wouldn't let your GM eat the Luongo contract in a buyout. Plus I think your team has gotten old fast and needs to get younger. My XM radio NHL channel a few weeks ago was saying that the new GM for Vancouver should deal the Sedins and get some new younger blood. Also I don't know why the Sedins are always thought of as a unit. Trade one of them and keep the other - it doesn't have to be both or none.
  2. I didn't say it's all on Crawford - there is plenty of blame to go around. But, he definitely is part of the problem. It's not like we are losing 1-0 and can blame it all on the offense. Yes Crawford has been hung out to dry but not in all cases. He's got to be better and even he knows that.
  3. Crawford definitely is a big factor here - in game 3 he let in 2 goals in the second period on only 4 shots. In game 2 he was a sieve in net and allowed 5 unanswered. Your goalie can't be throwing up .800 SVP or less and expect to win anything. This has been the story of Crawford - he's hot and cold. The Hawks are not a physical team, haven't been in several years, and we don't hit. We are a puck possession team and when you always have the puck you don't have to hit. The Kings are playing confidently and we are not - that's really what it comes down to.
  4. Confidence (often referred to as 'momentum') is everything. Right now we have none. A penalty against us is an automatic goal for the Kings. Crawford has reverted to playing like he did against the Coyotes in round 1 of the 2012 playoffs. And our PP is non-existent. During the regular season our PK was 29th-30th for most of the year and it got better in March, then it was almost perfect in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. But then game 2 hit and we lost all confidence - so now we are where we were during the early part of the regular season with no PK. Do I think the Kings are a better team? No. But they are playing better than us - big difference. We handled them fine in game 1 and the first 2 periods of game 2. Once we lost all confidence we collapsed. Our only chance is to try and regain some of that in game 5 with our home crowd and make this team believe again. Then the goal for game #6 will be just to force a game #7 at home. But if we can't find any confidence then game #5 will be another laugher.
  5. Were the Kings that good or the Hawks just that bad? I would contend it's the latter as someone forgot to tell the Hawks that there was a 3rd period to play. That was a strange game for sure.
  6. Who said it was going to be easy? Did you really think one team would sweep? I planned on a long series and I believe it will go 6 or 7.
  7. Last I checked Daniel was still on your team, played this season, and even inked a long term contract extension. Falsehoods and conspiracy theories as always here from some.
  8. This series is a yawner. It ended the minute Price went down. Rangers in 4 - Habs are done. The only question now is who comes out of the West to face NY in the Final.
  9. I wouldn't call the disallowed goal 'lucky' by any means.
  10. If Price is finished for this series then so are the Habs. Plus I hate the Habs and their 150 Stanley Cups.
  11. The love fest with LA is just due to them overcoming a 3-0 deficit against San Jose. Yes that's quite an accomplishment but most (including me) would say that San Jose choked rather than LA was just that good.
  12. I'm scratching my head here wondering why some think that Torts deserved another year. The team massively underperformed with a roster stacked with talent. The coach is accountable for that. And Torts going 'postal' earlier in the season showed what a poor hiring decision this was. When you don't perform changes are needed. You guys need a calm and seasoned coach - the 'in your face' style just doesn't mesh with this club.
  13. You guys have a new GM and he's gonna want his own guy. Clearly Gillis paid the price for the Torts hiring and the new GM is just clearing up the mess. Torts was not a fit for the Canucks organization. Somewhere AV is laughing about all the turmoil today.
  14. Torts is a nut case. The Bobby Knight coaching philosophy was a thing of the 80s and 90s. It doesn't work in the present day. As a player I'd rather have a leader and teacher behind the bench than a hot head that gets wrongly misconstrued as 'passion and heart'.
  15. The Sedins started showing their age this past season. Red flag to management. You still keep them but should re-evaluate. It's hurts that these 2 are thought of as a 'unit' and can't be separated.
  16. Not surprised at all by this move - I had said it several times during the season he would be gone. That 'Bobby Knight' incident he had with going postal really made him look bad and was not something you want in your organization. Coaches need to be in control. Torts clearly lost his team and it showed when they didn't play hard for them. This was an underperforming team given the talent it has. There's no reason you guys should have missed the playoffs this year. So for that reason you have to ask yourselves what changed and clearly the new guy that came onboard was the change and it didn't work.
  17.   Incorrect - the NHL channel played that up a lot before the series on how St. Louis was going into the playoffs staggering with pretty much everyone injured. However, other than Morrow who's at the tail of his career, they all returned and played - and they played well.
  18. I think pretty much anyone watching that game yesterday was scratching their heads when they saw that Luongo wasn't starting. Can't blame Luongo for wanting out but he signed a contract that ties the hands of the organization so he has to take it. And your owner won't eat a contract. The result is a never ending goalie soap opera in Vancouver. And I think Torts has done more to damage your organization this year than anyone else. You can say what you want about AV but he wouldn't have benched Luongo for the game. And AV would not have gone postal in that Calgary locker room episode. Resurrecting this franchise starts with getting rid of Torts. And someone convincing the owner to eat Luongo's contract and end the goalie drama would certainly help as well.
  19. Just curious - did anyone here attend the final game in person 4 years ago in Vancouver when the USA and Canada played for the gold?
  20. Boring game - didn't have the excitment of the matchup of 4 years ago when it was on Canadian ice and for the gold. I thought the USA women's defeat yesterday was a more difficult loss given how it was the final game and they blew a 2 goal lead with 4 min to go. But today wasn't even the final game and it was just a pitcher's dual. Time to get back to the NHL.
  21. The American ladies blew this game - when you can't close out a 2-0 game with 4 min left you have no one to blame but yourself. The PK was pretty poor there at the end. The whole thing looked kinda high school to me. Granted it was still exciting but let's face it, the ladies out there played like...well...um....girls. I'm waiting for the men's game tomorrow against Canada and hopefully the USA goes to the final this Sunday.
  22. Interesting - never knew that. Although I would bet it's not real gold they are getting - maybe 10k gold plated at best.
  23. Someone please explain why athletes always pose for photos with the olympic medal in their mouth like they are taking a bite out of it. Is metal supposed to taste good?
  24. Gotta bust your chops on this one but I found it ironic that you said that while having a footnote photo on your posting of Ryan Kesler. Kesler as you know is part of team USA and is wearing the silver that you are making fun of. So you're ripping on your own player. Might want to rethink that one.
  25. Winning silver is equivalent to being the team on the losing side of the Stanley Cup Finals. There's nothing to celebrate with silver other than being the first loser. That is why silver is tough to handle.
