I don’t think you comprehend anything I said.
I don’t expect them to be better in 2 years. They are playing the long game. We are not.
I even said I expect them to take a step back.
The above is a quote of what you said.
You agreed with me that the nux would be better than Seattle in 2 years then you argued that Seattle will be better in the long run.
You are painful to argue with partner.
You know if you just argue for the sake of it and pretend you don't say what you say - what is the point of any of it?
Right. No point. On that we can both agree.

Ok partner let me get this straight - you are saying:
1. You agree with me that the Canucks will be better than Seattle in 2 years.
You are arguing that:
2. You think Seattle will be better than Vancouver more than 2 years from now.
ok. Lol.
You do you.

They’ve accumulated a f**k ton of early round picks last and this draft. They have their top 2 Cs for a decade.
And the other guys they’ve drafted are doing pretty well. They have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds in this upcoming deep draft.
They’ll probably get a step back as their youngsters establish themselves but it’ll be the calm before the storm.
They’ve set themselves nicely long term.
Buddy buddy buddy. They have 6 picks this year in the top 4 rounds so do we. They have 2nds we have 3rds. Jeez. You are reading your tea leaves.
Beniers is ok. Not as good as Petey as a rookie. No argument there.
Wright might be a head case. But you do you partner. Seattle roster is more than 2 years older than the Canucks.
I am going to bet on the Canucks 10 out of 10 times to be better then Seattle in 2 years.

Seattle is a middle of the pack team and gonna stay there. No game breakers. Beniers their best player and he's so so.
Give Nux 2 years and we are gonna pass them and stay better.

The "reporting" now is bs. Miller was shopped prior to the trade deadline but nux still had Horvat. That fact is ignored. Once Horvat got dealt the report that the Miller deal fell apart came out erroneously ignoring that Horvat had been moved.
Miller s not getting traded. Canucks are not rebuilding.
Media just stirs and stirs the pot.

I really want people to stop saying we should stop trying to just make the playoffs cuz we need to be a C-C-Contender. FFS we have made it 2 times in 12 years.
Next year make the playoffs. Stop the crazy living in your mom's basement belief that a tear down rebuild is the way to go.
Make the playoffs next year! Petey Hughes Demko and others need to have some success here. It is not a video game.
Nonsense for anyone to still think making the playoffs is not important for this group.
And even more nonsense to say that we should tear it down and not make the playoffs for another 5 years. Good lord what a bunch of bs that is. That is a recipe for destroying the franchise - not saving it.
Winning teams win. Enough negative crap.

Dear Jim Rutherford,
Thank you for your letter. I enjoyed it.
I want to write a letter back to you from a long time season ticket holder. I have had full or half or quarter season tickets for 40 years. I have had them myself or shared with 1 or 2 others.
I have been to probably 400 Canuck home games in the last 50 years. I with every other Canuck fan has suffered through many losing seasons and 3 SCF losses.
On a personal note I have memories like many fans that are personal to me.
I was there when Bure got kicked out of game 4 in the SCF against the Rangers.
I was there when Detroit scored on Cloutier from centre ice. I was there when we beat Toronto in the Western final. I was there when Demko played his first game. I was there when Gino fought everybody.
I was there when the Sedins played their last game. I was there when Petey played his first game as a prospect intrasquad in the summer and was so much better than everyone else. I was there hundreds of other times to cheer on the team.
Were you?
I don't mean that disrespectfully. I hope you are going to be the guy who turns this franchise around and wins us a cup. i would love that.
What I want you to know is that long time Canuck fans have heard it all before. Do you know that Benning told us that we should be contenders within 2 yrs when he joined? Do you know he said it again two years before he got fired? Do you know that we have endured some terrible coaches? Do you know that we have believed in a hundred prospects? Do you know that we have supported the team even when the lunatic fringe was burning down the city and making us look bad? Think about that.
We as Canuck fans took that black eye and still loved our team. Twice.
So here is the thing. Don't take this lightly. Don't think that you can be half in. Don't think that it is ok to just say stuff.
If you want to make a difference then see it through. Bring a cup to the longest suffering fans in the entire NHL. Or GTFO.
Ok challenge given. Do it partner.

I hope so, it's just really weird and awkward when they don't mention him but mention the RFA 3rd pair guy Ethan Bear. Boeser has been with us for years and we have him under contract. It's a lay up to mention his name. But they didn't. Which leads me to believe it's a matter of when he's traded, not if. But I am one of Boeser's bigger fans here. So I'd love for him to be here for many years.
I think JR is sending a message to Boeser Beauvilier and Garland that they need to play at a level equal to their paychecks if they want to join the core guys.
Get better is the message. It is not a message of we are trading you. It is a message of get better and get up with the big boys who are playing at a level equal or above their paychecks.
I like Boeser too. I think he needs this.

I am all for improvements, and they generally seem to be trying as they can. But to get rid of it altogether because it's not definitively better than it currently is, is wrong.
Improve it or change it or scrap it.
The organization needs to be better in everything it does in order to compete with the great NHL organizations at the top of the standings. Or we are kidding ourselves. Get better in every way. Mediocrity is not acceptable in any form if you want to be competitive with the top teams and their exceptional organizations.
Why are the top teams at the top?

It's a completely different experience, reaching fans in a live atmosphere, and a different event from what you think it's supposed to be. Its goal isn't to produce the best on-ice product possible, but give opportunities to both players and fans to experience something they wouldn't otherwise. And ignorance is also bliss, I guess. Entitled people will always think things should be their way.
What?
I have just said that this is a sub par event and needs to be retooled to bring it up to the level it should be or else do something else. Having 50% of the players be guys who have no connection to the team is disappointing.
Improve it or find another way to promote the young prospects.
Nothing wrong with that partner.

JR names 8 guys, Petey, Hughes,Miller, Demko, Kuz, Mikhaev, Bear and Hronek.
We need to add another 8.
Four need to come from our young guys - Pod,Hog,Kravtsov,Johansson,Jurmo, D-Petey,Aman,Lek,Bloom,Hirose,Klim,Sasson,Raty,2023 1st, etc.
Then add 4 from trades and UFA signings.
If they get to 16 guys who are all playing well - then they can be on the launch pad to becoming a contender and making final moves to fill out the roster at that point.
I hope this is how JR sees it as well.
In addition to the above it is possible that Garland or Boeser or Beauvilier improve and play at or above their pay scale which would be great. Challenge offered by JR by omitting them from his letter.

Heh yeah great...for you.
It's a lot of fun for kids who wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to attend a game where the players are in NHL jerseys. Maybe they make it, maybe they don't. But, it's an excellent family event for fans. If you don't like it, don't watch.
I want the Canucks to support things that promote the game the brand and the team. But I don't agree with mediocrity in any form in this organization. Obviously you do.

I think the Canucks are on the way up.

This tournament needs an overhaul. NCAA prospects are not allowed. Often European prospects are otherwise committed and the roster is filled out with guys they invite for the sole purpose of having a roster. (Literally half of the players who attend never play in the Canucks system).
I am a big fan of our young prospects but for some reason this tournament has always been a bit of a disappointment. I understand that people who live in the Okanagan like it because they don't have a chance to see Canucks or their prospects outside of the lower mainland. Still. It is always a bit flat after it comes and goes.
Find a way to have all of the top prospects play or else scrap it. Small time and underwhelming in it's current format.

[Signing] Canucks sign Cole McWard
in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Posted
It would be interesting to see how many undrafted NCAA free agents are now currently playing in the NHL.
I suspect it is not that many and most of the college guys who make it were relatively high draft picks.
I think most of the undrafted guys wind up in the AHL and Europe.
But it is good PR for the team when they sign someone.
Having said that I wish McWard all the best and hope he beats the odds to become a top 4 NHL Dman for us.
