Found it interesting that Pettersson said after the game today that Vancouver has always been his favourite NHL team.  I didn't know that.  Apparently he was wearing Canucks gear by the time he was five?  I had not heard that before today.

You'll probably enjoy this :) :goat:

  2. Got to play 19 last week. 40 ping is going to feel a lot better this year than in 18. Obviously the lower the ping the better, but 40+ shouldn't feel nearly as slow and delayed as 18.

I have high hopes that 19 is the first game of this gen that finally really gets it right gameplay wise.

  3. This is by far the best change they could have made to the gameplay for me. The skating in NHL 15, 16, 17 and 18 has been a clunky input delayed mess. This new skating feels like NHL 12 and prior to play, but looks wayy better with the new animations. I haven't really liked any of the NHL's on this gen, mostly due to the clunky feeling gameplay. I'm excited for 19's gameplay. I think it will be really good again.

Experience skating that’s more responsive than ever before as Real Player Motion (RPM) Technology comes to EA SPORTS NHL 19. Featuring innovative animation, RPM delivers Explosive-Edge skating that enables more control, acceleration, and creativity up and down the ice. Inspired by the high-paced nature of today’s NHL, RPM-fueled skating delivers speed, agility, and pin-point turns to NHL 19, giving you the ability to skate like Connor McDavid. Learn more about RPM Skating in NHL 19 below.

Move like McDavid in NHL 19

Turn on a dime and change direction with blinding speed thanks to Explosive-Edge skating. Enjoy movement that gives you total command and react smoothly on the ice with superior control. Generate speed using edgework and crossover maneuvers to skate with power in all zones of the rink, dominating the game the way McDavid does.

    Skate with Skill and Speed

Just like today’s NHL, using size in combination with skill is a key component of powering past the competition in NHL 19. Player size and their attribute ratings correlate with the kind of skating style you’ll see them move with, giving you a number of ways to take advantage of a skater’s abilities. Utilize speed advantages possessed by smaller players and blow right by the defenders, or work down low in the corners as you use powerful turns to keep the puck with larger players.

Thanks to RPM, you’ll have fluid command over where your player skates with seamless animations that let you decide exactly how you’ll get from point A to B. This level of responsiveness opens a world of possibilities for every single skater based on their skill ratings, physical size, and movement style. Player endurance also plays an important role in NHL 19, as hustling will burn more energy than gliding and maintaining momentum through pivots and wider turns.

    Size and Skating Style

While statistical ratings and size will continue to have the biggest impact on a player’s ability to get around the ice in NHL 19, RPM incorporates skating styles that affect the visual presentation and overall feeling of motion. The difference in attributes combined with unique animations makes player differentiation better than ever before. Players like Patrick Kane will be seen using quick elusive steps to evade trouble in the corners, while players like Dustin Byfuglien will be able to use more powerful strides and their strength to get past players.

These systems also carry over into the World of CHEL where you'll create your own unique identity, as different choices to height, weight, attribute customization by class, and the traits you select for your Create-a-Skater will differentiate how players look and feel while skating out on the ice.

    With or Without the Puck

Skating when you don’t have the puck is just as important as driving the play when you do, which is why you’ll notice four different stick positions that build upon the authentic skating experience at all ends of the ice. Each stick variation is impacted by multiple motions such as tight carve turns, stops, cycles, crossovers, exits, and starts, applicable in all directions. In combination with skating styles, there are limitless possibilities to unlock each player’s potential in NHL 19, all thanks to the power of RPM.

  4. Big jump from college to the show. He's feisty, got a nice hit or two in during his 5 games and probably should have had a couple points, but watching him closely you could tell he was a step behind. He didn't have the speed and power in his first few steps. Will be fun to see where he's at after the summer.

I certainly wouldn't be against him starting out in Utica. It will never hurt him or his development to do so. Play well and earn a call up.

If he earns a spot on the big club he should start out on the fourth line and work his way up like Horvat did.

Nucks have some high end prospects with the likes of pettersson and hughes who will more than likely become good-great NHL players, but are also gaining a cupboard full of prospects who are a tier below those guys. Guys like Gaudette, Dahlen, Lind, Juolevi, Gadjovich. It's going to be fun watching these guys develop over the next few years. We just have to hope a few of them live up to their potential and even surpass it!

  5. As a game changer I can answer any questions you guys may have about anything that has been announced so far. After playing 19, I'm most excited for the changes to skating. 18, and the game in general since this new generation, has been so clunky and unresponsive I can hardly play it anymore. The new skating feels much more responsive and has me excited about the gameplay again.

Will do! We have plans to go for coffee depending on her schedule (she’s working two jobs along with a full class load), but I’ve become a lot more relaxed since asking (and then checking in via text). Was also snapping with her tonight about something from class and then her dog being in a superhero costume and got her laughing, so that’s all good signs from what I can tell.

But yeah, I kinda had a lot of nervousness about asking her to coffee and then following up afterwards, I feel more relaxed now and I think I’ll do okay from here on in, even if I’ve got no clue what I’m doing.

    I feel the same way.

We're all rooting for you jazz. She gave you her number, snap, whatever etc. There's no need to second guess it, she's interested. Now go have some fun

Thanks guys, but I liked being friends with her to start with so the whole friendzone thing is kinda overblown

Actually, I was the one with a bad day. There was a group of us that went out drinking and I was the DD. On the way back she was laughing with some guy in the back, and I realized I couldn’t see myself in the same situation.

The next day was absolutely terrible - I couldn’t stop thinking about all my mistakes in life, just little things that don’t normally bother me. I hardly talked to anyone all day and slept a lot as well - probably a good thing in the end though. I ended up realizing some things about myself and felt a lot better around midnight.

But it since then, it feels like our relationship’s been set back to what it was in the first week of classes. Not that I’m complaining - there’s a cute girl that’s in my Geography class that I sit next to and talk with, but it’s still slightly weird what happened.

Sounds like you've waited a while and didn't make a move on woman A, but wanted to. Don't overthink and put so much pressure on the situation, just go for it. Opportunities will come and go, as someone else said you won't regret the times you tried but will regret the times you didn't try. That opportunity may not be as good as it once was but it probably isn't completely over yet.

Switch targets for a bit. Instead of just being the guy that woman B sits beside in geography, ask her to hangout/go to an event.

People often wonder if their crush feels the same way, and as long as it isn't a long distance crush ie a girl you see at the gym but never talk to, they'd be surprised how well things would go if they made a move.
