I dislike the Rangers almost as much as the Laffers. That said I watched a bit of their game last night and they looked very good. A lot of size on that team.

Rangers are for real for long time, perhaps if they played on the West, they will have much more chances for a Cup.

He's on a good contract this year. We may have to retain just this year's salary before the new one kicks in. The team that gets him will have expiring contracts after this season ends and may need to move a little salary in the offseason.

Look at Horvat for example. Teams wanted a sign and trade. NyI took him and will prob offer him 8m x7 at minimum which is same as Miller.

Are we saying Bo will turn into a cap dump as soon as he signs that contract? Yet he was worth Beauvillier, Raty and a 1st now?

I like your post, I agreed Bo will cost at least 8mln for 7 years, although you can't compare Bo trading, NYl take a risk, what if Bo doesn't sign? All I know, in today Cap, all teams are careful with $$$ . Kane and Toews more likely will be traded with Cap 10.5 mln at ages 34 because they are UFA next year.

We'd be taking back (ideally lower and/or shorter term) cap. Kotkaniemi + from CAR for example.

I don't think anyone is suggesting we'd be moving Miller and his entire cap/term without taking someone back.

Kind of ridiculous to suggest that he's immovable.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi signed a 8 year, $38,560,000 contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on Mar. 21, 2022. The contract has a cap hit of $4,820,000.

The key is Kotkaniemi is 22 year old and Carolina just signed him for 8 year deal. We traded Bo and retained 25% of his salary to make Cap work, Contenders don't have cap and if they do, unlikely they will spend on Miller. Prove me wrong Canucks GM, trade him! I will be first to celebrate his trade.

Why wouldn't a "win now" team want a +/- 1PPG PWF who can win draws/play C in a pinch and is on an expiring bargain deal, with a below market/cost certainty extension already in place?

J.T. Miller signed a 7 year, $56,000,000 contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Sep. 2, 2022. The contract has a cap hit of $8,000,000.

I disagreed 7 times 8mln a below market cost, he is 29 year old already, I think it is a fair contract but not a bargain. In my view , contenders don't have a cap to accrued Miller and his contract, if I am wrong, I will be only happy.

When did I even come close to saying others care if he fits. I am saying he's a great player, just not a fit for us. Which is why we want to trade him. Dude. This forum is really filled with low IQ people lately. That Horvat trade is a nightmare.

And calling people dumb and low IQ make your IQ higher? We have different opinion , that's fine, no need for personal attack. We agreed Miller is a good player, we disagreed his contract can be moved. All good.

He is currently a near PPG that plays with an edge, and has proven he can reach 99 points. His floor and his ceiling are quite high. He can play center and wing. The idea nobody would take him is dumb. Would we have to take cap back? Probably, but it wouldn't effect the return in the slightest. I dunno where the idea came from that he's a bad center, but I can only assume it comes from Miller haters. Which funnily enough, I am. But even I can see that he is a good center, a great winger, and would be a good addition to a team wanting to contend. He doesn't fit our team, he's not a mentor type, and I wouldn't doubt playing closer to home would get more out of him.

You can call my idea dumb if you like, no problem. "He doesn't fit our team"...guess what, nobody in NHL care what fit Canucks team or not, I am not Miller hater, I am trying to be realistic.

    I don't buy that

His floor is just below a PT / game player and his ceiling is 100 pts.

Thats worth 8m for a physical forward who can take draws but if Tocchet can fix his 2 way game, I think it's money well spent.

He just doesn't seem to fit with the team's timeline now...

8 mln per year is a key, to trade him away we must take some "bad" contracts back, nobody have 8 mln available (I am talking about contenders), I am not saying Miller a bad hockey player, I am saying to move his contract now is problematic task to complete. If we can turn time back and trade him ila Bo last year, now we are talking...

  8. I am not loosing my sleep because Pederson get claimed. At the same time, Alvin and his four assistance (or more), make me more and more confused. What are we doing, where are we going, retooling/rebuilding? Jim Benning was not a well -spoken person, but it was clear "we run out of time to sign Markstrom and Tanev for example", the more interviews I am listening, the more confused I am lol

I understand that. IMO he is one of the players who's value will be the long term lasting effects he has on the young players who play with him and around him. Even if and especially if we are stripping this team down and putting up new studs.

He is 33 year old and UFA next year, you keep him and he will walk out for FREE, we can't afford that.

I value 2nd round picks veeeeeery highly especially with our prospect pool in the state that it is.

I hope we keep Schenn. IMO we need a few culture carrying vets!

I respect your opinion but this is not a way to make a profit before TDL for non playoff team. He is gone and only question is how realistic to get a 2nd round back.

“Hippos are the mammals that kill the most people in Africa, yet their diet consists of only grass,” reads a meme going around Facebook in South Africa.

“If hippos don’t kill people for food, why do they kill people?  Hippos are extremely short tempered, territorial and aggressive, when people get between them and their water sources to go catch fish, swim, etc…

“Hippos will most likely show aggressive behaviour when they feel threatened.  You might think that such a big, stocky animal would never be able to outrun a human, but think again because hippos can run up to 30km per hour!”

  12. I would like to point something out. Historically, Vancouver was a no-go for Russian players (for different reasons: too far away, no other Russian players, weather, travel, and taxes). Finally, we got a good Russian for FREE, who is happy in Vancouver and fun to watch on the ice. No, let's screw up the chemistry in Vancouver for the future 2nd round, and nobody will come to play for us if we treat players badly. We always overpay in FA, but this is not an overpay by any measurement. Be happy and enjoy Kuzya and EP40 for the next two years at least.
