Well....at least that's better than blaming it on the refs, (can't believe people still do that) but IMHO, it was a combination of too many top players playing injured (or in the case of Hamhuis, not playing at all) and Tim Thomas' .967 save percentage.

I felt the media got into Luongo's head a lot. I also think they had a hand in overblowing the pumping tires comment Luongo made that pushed Tim Thomas to play better. If we are only talking about things that happened on the ice, I don't blame the refs. I Rome for laying out the Bruin's player(I forgot his name) and woke up the Bruins. That hit turned the tides for Boston in a big way.

Oh..Sekeres.  Yep, definitely legit.  We know we can trust that guy.....he's NEVER steered us wrong.

I especially love the plug to tune in to his show to hear more.  Nothing like generating a buzz.

Maybe not but you don't hear that kind of stuff often with players who have been traded away. Sekeras has been wrong but he isn't really the type to make that kind of stuff up. Especially when he knows the kind of backlash that kind of news can bring out,

Could be, but it's not worth crucifying a player over a Sekeres comment and a lot of redditors who thinks they have an inside like to the workings of the team.

Not crucifying, just trying to make sense of the rather unimpressive haul Benning got for him.

I think it is completely fair to compare Hoglander to Lind. Because of the age difference. Lind should be where Hoglander is now. Both I would argue have the same ceiling 3rd line players with 2nd line potential. Hoglander has proven himself to be a 3rd line fixture. which means he has a much better chance at being a good top 6 forward.

Lind has not cracked the lineup.

Don't give up on Lind yet. Like Juolevi, injuries has kept him down. A switch from wing to center also took some time for adjustment but he is the Comet's number one center and primary offensive driver this year. https://canucksarmy.com/2021/03/05/fabers-prospect-lind-faceoff-zlodeyev-podkolzin-gadjovich-more/

I've been making posts here calling for Clark to be signed asap for a long time....

But it's not entirely Bennings choice. Maybe Clark wanted to see Demko signed long term .. he wants a stud to work with and ges got one in Demmer.

Or maybe Clark wants to go to Florida and coach Bobs back to a Vezina.

I think he re signs here.  Hes got a great kid in Demko to turn into a superstar signed long term.

My worry is that Ian Clark doesn't resign because Benning isn't exactly great at retaining good people. Benning drove out Malholtra, Brackett, Linden. Stories of him not being a good communicator. There are lots of things that make me think Clark would not stay because Benning is not the best guy to work for.

Idk guys. I think he is asking for autonomy and wants to take credit for Demko's success.

We all know it's all JB who should be praised for goalie development.

Don't count on him being back

I would consider Benning to be the worst GM since Keenan if Clark does not come back.

  7. After Demko signing for 5 years, the Canucks need to lock up Ian Clark. He is by far the best goaltending coach the Canucks have had. If Benning can't keep him then I just give up. Bennign has just let too many good people go.

Oh ... you mean like this echo wind tunnel of negativity in this thread?

You don't even understand how much I want to be positive. I want to be so positive about this team I grew up with. I want to be positive like I was in the Linden/Bure days, like WCE days, like the Sedin team dominating the NHL regular season days but the stories of Benning only saying certain things during interviews and not following through with pending free agents, like the loss of quality people like Linden, Brackett,, Malholtra etc. has me very skeptical about this regime.

I do think Brackett was a big part of the overall drafting success. I also wish Benning would not push out good thinkers and surround himself with only like minded people like Weisbrod. He doesnt seem to be too receptive to people who challenge him with dissenting opinions or who want authority to do their job.

After what Weisbrod did in Calgary, I have absolutely no faith in him. Benning seems to be surrounded by yes men right now and that's scary.

But he and Brackett drafted those players, so how could it get worse with out Brackett?

Unless you are saying it would be worse without Brackett even thoufgh you are saying it was not good with Brackett?

Really, what are you trying to say anyway?

Brackett was the one who pushed for a lot of draft choices. He was extraordinarily good at his job but Benning didn't want to promote him cause he wants to oversee drafting himself. Bracket left and Minnisota snatched him up quick. Benning has shown he has been hit ofr miss by himself in evaluating talent.

Name 1 GM in the history of sports that's drafted his team the rookie of the year or the runner up 3 years in a row. I'll wait...

    (calder in this case)

    The Office Waiting GIF

23rd overall, 5th overall, 7th overall... this is not a video game. You should respect his vision and trust his process.

I'm begging you Canucks nation, stay positive and trust Jim's process. I had many doubts in him, you can go back to his first 5 years... I often questioned him and said he should be fired on these forums... but he's made amends and I'm confident that he is the man that will bring us our rightful cup.

    Long live Lord Benning!

Edit: fixed... Rookie of the year or runner up without a single top 3 pick. No other GM has done this in all sports.

You forgot that he also drafted Virtanen and Joulevi over a multitude of great players. We will see how he does without Brackett.
