  1. Krebs for me, wouldn't be mad with Newhook or Zegras though
  2. Could be a bit of both I think, I really like the forwards that will likely still be there at 10. Was looking back at drafts to see defencemen in the top 10, stopped at 2012. Eight defence taken in the top 10, 7 consecutive picks. Lots of misses in there too, although 2012 is just an ugly draft for the most part I think.
  3. I think in this case people are saying BPA in reference to the forward depth. From early on people have been saying this draft is light on defence and that might force them to get drafted higher than they should. We have needs at both wing and defence but IMO this year is a year to try to add some offensive talent to our lineup.
  4. I saw this before as well, curious what his source is with the Rangers. Willes just lists off the Rangers draft board with nothing backing it, I cant picture any team not having Hughes in their top two after what he did at the U18. He should be at #1 on every teams list unless Kakko does something crazy at the Worlds
  5. Hughes Kakko Cozens Byram Dach Turcotte Boldy Krebs Podkolzin If the draft plays out this way I would take Zegras, Caufield or Newhook and be happy with any one of those 3. Loving the amount of talent available in this draft.
  6. Do we actually have 8.4 or do we have more than that. On CapFriendly it says we have 8.3 but its lists Brogan Rafferty as 5.1 Mill cap hit. I'm not sure how that all works but i think we could have more like 13 mill in cap space
  7. I can see that he has a high upside but its nowhere near Dahlin. I've seen him ranked outside the first round numerous times and Biech was trashing him on Twitter recently. Not saying those guys cant make a mistake, more just wondering what you're seeing that maybe other people aren't?
  8. JD Burke released draft rankings for elite prospects today. Surprised by some of the rankings, Zegras at 21 and Bobby Brink at 12. He has Broberg rated at 33 i believe as well. This draft is shaping up to be quite interesting as far as rankings, i assume things will start to solidify a bit more over the next two months before the draft though. 1 Jack Hughes (C) U.S. National U18 Team USDP 43 25 67 92 20 2 Kaapo Kakko (RW) TPS Liiga 45 22 16 38 10 3 Vasili Podkolzin (RW) SKA-1946 St. Petersburg MHL 12 6 2 8 2 4 Bowen Byram (D) Vancouver Giants WHL 67 26 45 71 80 5 Dylan Cozens (C/RW) Lethbridge Hurricanes WHL 68 34 50 84 30 6 Alex Turcotte (C) U.S. National U18 Team USDP 30 23 30 53 18 7 Kirby Dach (C) Saskatoon Blades WHL 62 25 48 73 40 8 Peyton Krebs (LW/C) Kootenay Ice WHL 64 19 49 68 63 9 Alex Newhook (C) Victoria Grizzlies BCHL 53 38 64 102 21 10 Matthew Boldy (LW) U.S. National U18 Team USDP 57 30 39 69 28 11 Arthur Kaliyev (LW) Hamilton Bulldogs OHL 67 51 51 102 22 12 Bobby Brink (RW) Sioux City Musketeers USHL 43 35 33 68 22 13 Cole Caufield (C/RW) U.S. National U18 Team USDP 57 58 24 82 35 14 Victor Söderström (D) Brynäs IF SHL 44 4 3 7 22 15 Pavel Dorofeyev (LW/RW) Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk MHL 19 17 14 31 14 16 Raphaël Lavoie (C/RW) Halifax Mooseheads QMJHL 62 32 41 73 31 17 Moritz Seider (D) Adler Mannheim DEL 29 2 4 6 8 18 Nils Höglander (LW) Rögle BK SHL 50 7 7 14 22 19 Ville Heinola (D) Lukko Liiga 34 2 12 14 26 20 Cam York (D) U.S. National U18 Team USDP 56 10 44 54 16 21 Trevor Zegras (C/W) U.S. National U18 Team USDP 55 26 52 78 92 22 Thomas Harley (D) Mississauga Steelheads OHL 68 11 47 58 24 23 Ryan Suzuki (C) Barrie Colts OHL 65 25 50 75 14 24 Jakob Pelletier (LW) Moncton Wildcats QMJHL 65 39 50 89 24 25 Connor McMichael (C) London Knights OHL 67 36 36 72 19 26 Ryan Johnson (D) Sioux Falls Stampede USHL 54 6 19 25 26 27 Anttoni Honka (D) JYP Liiga 16 1 3 4 6 28 Albin Grewe (C/RW) Djurgårdens IF J20 SuperElit 25 13 21 34 102 29 Samuel Poulin (LW) Sherbrooke Phoenix QMJHL 67 29 47 76 46 30 Mikko Kokkonen (D) Jukurit Liiga 56 3 16 19 20 31 Philip Tomasino (C) Niagara IceDogs OHL 67 34 38 72 32
  9. The guys in this program play against NCAA teams, players that are up to 24 years old.
  10. I agree with you here, I don't feel like his skating is a liability by any means but i would like to see more explosiveness from a player with his frame. Good thing his shot is elite
  11. Central scouting just released their rankings, few interesting things on there. He's not a player that i really want for the Canucks. We would likely stick him in Utica and never give him a shot because of his defensive play. For us I think I like players in this order Trevor Zegras: Don't see this guy falling to us but I think his skill level makes him the BPA, would love to see this guy on the wing with Pettersson and Boeser. That line would terrorize the league for years to come. Peyton Krebs: Honestly probably ahead of the next 2 because he is Canadian, want to see this guy captain Canada to gold in the Juniors. Also really like his speed and he is apparently the hardest working player in this draft. I think this guy is the ideal counterpart to play beside Horvat, those two would fight tooth and nail for us every night. Cole Caufield: Been going back and forth between Krebs, Caufield and Boldy. Changes daily it seems, best goal scorer beats out Boldy this time. Caufield seems to steal the show in every NTDP player highlight reel that i watch. I would have this guy ranked higher but i think he plays a similar style to Boeser and I'm not positive where he would fit on our PP in the future. Matthew Boldy: Like hearing about his hockey IQ, apparently very versatile offensively. Dont love his skating and I do worry a little that his production might have been inflated playing on that historically good NTDP Squad. Setting aside that I do think he can improve his skating and his offensive creativity would be an asset for us. Victor Soderstrom: Including him here because I see us going this direction, I'm not opposed to it as i like a lot of the two way lay this guy brings to the table. I don't dislike this pick but he won't be playing or us for at least 3 years... Call me impatient but i would like to see any of the above players in our lineup likely in the next couple years.
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zgem0XN3GF8 Petey will be a fan of Hughes too
  13. Looking into this draft a lot lately and having some mixed feelings about all of the usntdp program players being ranked so highly. Not taking shots at the program itself, i realize its doing great things for American hockey and is churning out star players like gangbusters. My only concern this year is that with all the talent this year i feel like some of these players are driving the play and some others are benefitting from that. Not sure if anyone else shares these concerns, with the Canucks likely drafting between 8-12 it seems very likely to me that we could be drafting one of these guys. Just ran a lottery sim and we ended up 9th (actually the first time I ran it we moved to 2nd pick but i figured thats too easy). Looking for some feedback from you guys if the draft goes as follows. Please dont take shots at the draft order, Im just throwing out a hypothetical scenario 1. Hughes 2. Kakko 3. Podkolzin 4. Byram 5. Cozens 6. Turcotte 7. Zegras 8. Dach Basically I think we would be looking at Krebs or Boldy... Could be wrong on that, I like a lot about Krebs game but the -50 is painful to look at, and with Boldy i have some concerns about him riding shotgun with some elite talent. Let me know what you guys think.
  14. Any chance Hughes could play March 6th against the Leafs? Travelling to Van for my first game at Rogers.
  15. We have a pretty great track record in the USHL lately, Boeser, Gaudette and Madden all should've been drafted higher then where they ended up going.
  16. Keep all of them, cap permitting i think you try J. Hughes on the wing. Hear a Patrick Kane/ Mitch Marner comparable for Hughes a lot, if that's the case it wouldn't hurt to give him a shot as a winger.
  17. Haha, I forgot about Karlsson. If you want to say the best Swedish players of October then this list might be fine. Otherwise I think its hard to mention the top 10 Swedes in the league without Karlsson or Hedman
  18. I stopped watching before the 3 stars were announced, i assume Pettersson was one of them... if not the 1st star. Anyone have the video of that?
  19. I feel like this is what happened with Jordan Subban. Not that I think he was ever destined to be a superstar, but its really the only excuse I can find for his massive drop in production last year, PS. Remember when he was considered one of our best prospects... thank goodness those days are gone
  20. Considering he was a 4th round pick, I'm willing to give the boner the benefit of the doubt.
  21. Anyone know what the playoff schedule looks like for Vaxjo?
  22. I literally just stared at this gif for a full minute, love that move by Boeser.
