What you said and are implying is that the Canucks ran out of time with Toffoli because he was already gone and it was a no brainer to sign Virtanen after. How is that not related, why is that so hard for you to understand?

They never bothered to contact Toffoli for a new contract at all that means he wasn't in their plans at all, and were banking on resigning Virtanen instead because they thought they saw a glimpse of what he could become in the playoffs.

Not signing Toffoli was a huge mistake and thats on JB

Defense was the priority not Virtanen. That is what you ignore. :picard:

Hence the deal that brought in Schmidt.

Lucky we got Schmidt for next to nothing because he is a tire fire defensively. Myers ,Schmidt , Hughes  are all bad defensively. Rathbone too small Hughes to small , Edler too old , Juolevi cant turn under pressure to the outside. Yah we look good offensively but when big forwards come in on them and they are not supported its a train wreck in their end.

I'm not mad at him for picking Virtanen I was in favor of it and was a huge supporter of Virtanen, I do question how he was managed here though especially with Green and trying to turn him into a Bo Horvat type player instead of just trying to improve his game, if they really wanted a two way player more then they should of drafted that instead, but they drafted a power forward and instead of trying to improve his game in what his strengths were already, they decided to try and turn him into a two way player more then try and improve offensive game and just turn him into an offensive threat with his size and strength, and I blame Green for that because his coaching system is more of a defensive style then offense style, hence why they rely on the goalie every year under his system, just garbage.

True Green was a offensive player and had to adapt and it seems he wants everyone to adapt as he did. . Some players cant adjust JV is a all go type guy and Green took the racehorse out of him.

Agree 100%. We’ll see how much they fill out.
also, what you stated above, is exactly the reason, we should cut Benning some slack regarding the Virtanen pick. He was exactly what we need now, had he lived up to expectation.

Virtanen LOL. Look at the board in his draft year lots of better options. Virtanen and Juolevi are wasted picks . period .

  5. We are stuck with Green , Green needs to adjust with the times, The Defensive systems in place are on Green he is the one that signs off on how his team plays. Same with the power play Green signs off on that as well. The coaches are directed by Green period . Green can only ice a team provided by Benning .

The product on the ICE is on Benning period. So 2 more years of HEE HAW. From what I can see is we need two Big D men Cernak, Rutta, or Hakanpaa types

Low price tags . One big 3rd line center with speed but can play and can be mean. Our first may be in play to get one of the pieces. Trade Schmidt for the center.

I like it.  OEL is 29, so his contract ends at the same age that Edler is now.  He is our immediate Edler replacement.  I would want the Coyotes to retain 1.5 million though.

LOL so AZ will take Erickson Rooster plus a second round pick and they have to retain salary LOL... what a joke.

We'll have to afford ourselves to the possibility that Rathbone is a mainstay. He's shown flashes of brilliance, I think he's a middle-pairing guy like a #4 or a #5 and we've got to give him a chance to shine. Because of that, if Schmidt stays we have to keep him on the right-side. If you look at the compilation of our blueline, that's the way to go.

Maybe I would sigh Rutta big mobile and plays a safe game and Hamonic both wont cost a bunch , Schmidt trade him to Buffalo for Eakin and a 2nd

Lol what is this?!!! Francesco does not need to explain anything to us. I know he’s passionate about his team and has pumped resources into making this club relevant over the past couple decades. Sure the brand has taken a hit this last bit but in saying that every company/brand has had to deal with hardship some more than others. It may seem the sky is crashing down on the team lol but it’s not, we will rebound because I know from following this team for 35 plus years this core that has been assembled will take us to greatness. Stop with the demands, just open your eyes, take a deep breath and focus your energy on doing or saying something meaningful that can help someone or something push forward. Winning or becoming great isn’t easy but we are on our way.

Yes time will tell but is JB really the guy to close the deal . He reminds me of Uncle Buck !

I said the other day, Graovac would be an everyday 4C if he played like his 6'5 frame. Last night he did. He has a little bit of skill and if he just brought that grit and physicality everynight like he did last night be'd be an effective player.

Graovac can be our 3rd line center he needs to work on faceoffs but thats about it.

Or balance the team better, use Eriksson with Hughes more now when Tanevs gone.

So find the defence minded forward that can keep defence intact when Hughes go for a walk.

We must have someone that can fill the role of Eriksson/Tanev since Eriksson is almost out of the equation.

Hughes is fine as he gets older and more mature he will get better . Better defensive partner would help Hamonic is ok but Cernak would be a better fit. Tampa needs cap space so there is a window of opportunity.

  11. Quin Hughes needs a Big mean defensive type as his partner . Problem is when you have small forwards combined with small D men you tend to loose a lot of puck battles .  Bigger teams win, small teams do well in the regular season but fade in the playoffs . Your players that can make a difference in the playoffs play in the corners.. As much as I like our team we are not built for the playoffs. A change is needed in the back end. Schmidt is not the type of D we need. Edler is too old . the type of D we need is, looking at Tampa, Cernak , Rutta , Sergachev, By the way all three JB could have had in free agency drafted or traded for.

I don't think JB is as incompetent as a lot of people on here think. I mean Hoglander, Pettersson, Hughes and Boeser were all home-runs, I'm not thrilled with any of the contracts he's given out in fact only Jason Botterill has been worse. But the drafting has been good, not great but good. We've got another top 10 pick this year and I think we'll get a pretty snazzy player whether it be a forward or a defender.

Well lets keep drafting, 5 more years and we may have something

  13. The whole team was pissed at the start of the year because of Benning's moves. And all the Benning cool aid drinkers say yah it was necessary because of future cap problems . I say bull crap to that . Allso Benning is a Drafting God . My dog could draft as well as him . Virtanen , Juolevi both misses compared to what was on the board. Over paying and  signing free agents is a crap shoot but when you make a mistake move on . Benning's failure as a GM to make a difference and his bumbling persona makes him a laughing stock of the league . We are 7 years into this and I say another 5 may make us a contender do we have the time to give this Idiot to draft and sign players that we will not win with?
