4 dryden?????

no sorry wrong on all 3.

give it another try....

neither Ken or Dave Dryden ever played for Toronto.

Vachon was never with the Blues either.

here are some hints:

1) was once called the worst goalie to ever in the NHL by his coach Don Cherry

2) also played for Detroit and New Jersey(was last NHL goalie to ever wear a full fiberglass mask during 1988 season)

3) also played for Los Angeles and Minnesota

4) also played for Pittsburgh

just some random guessing

good guesses.

keep trying. ;)

these are pretty hard, being they are a bit more obscure....they are not "household" names in the goalie ranks.

# 1 doug favell

no,its not Favell, although he had a similar "rockies" mask.

here are some hints:

1) was once called the worst goalie to ever in the NHL by his coach Don Cherry,he is NOT from Canada or U.S.A

2) also played for Detroit and New Jersey(was last NHL goalie to ever wear a full fiberglass mask during 1988 season)

4) also played for Buffalo,Minnesota & Pittsburgh, past Terry Sawchuk Trophy winner (CHL)

whats your point?

because the equipment was smaller??

Greztz (in his prime) would get the same amount of points, if not more playing in todays game....he would rack up 150-200 points on the freaking power play alone.

Crosby wouldnt rack up 300 points,he would have been murdered in the old days.....goons were running rampant,a player as small as Sid would have surely been injured sooner or later...its not like todays "touch a player" and a penalty is whistled...back then, players killed each other...there were muggings everwhere. Sid has it easy in comparison.

the d-men now a days are bigger, faster and stronger then they have ever been. the great one also had samanko ( spelling is way off ) to protect him back in those days without the instigator rule. the great one is the best player of all time but the skill level of players was alot lower back then.

1) K the not from Canada or USA gave it away for me... Hardy Astrom

2) Jeesh you really wanted to be obscure with this one... Sam St Laurent.

4) Even more frickin obscure with this one, although the number gave it away for me, Vincent Tremblay

Yes I played goalie all my life, I had tons of books about NHL goalies... lots of Cards as well.

players are protected by the rules today more than they have ever been in the past also. You breathe hard on the back of someone now you get a penalty. The star players are always getting special treatment.

back in the 70's you didnt see a constant penalty/power play parade like we have now.

shots on goal per game were also lower.

players have become better athletes and equipment for both forwards and goaltenders has changed in the last 30 years.

you cant really compare a player of today to a player of 3 decades ago.

back in the 70s its was mainly all canadians playing the sport,it was something like 90-95 percent...today you have athletes from all over the globe playing hockey.
