nd84
Hey guys, I've had the YLOD problem with my PS3 for a couple of months now. I've seen numerous ways to fix it yourself, I've found options such as sending it to SONY for them to fix for about $150 My question is does anyone know a permanent way to fix this problem? I have seen many posts regarding SONY and how they only do a temporary fix in which the PS3 starts working for only a minimum of a few days to about 2-3 months before YLOD comes back. I also found a local place that fixes the YLOD problem for $50 but after e-mailing them they admitted that it is only a temporary fix, that it will work for a couple of months and will return. They also said that there is no permanent fix. Despite them telling me there is no permanent fix I was just wondering if any of you guys know if there is a permanent fix or if there is a better place or options. Thanks for reading! *Update*: anyone know a good place that does temporary fixes for cheap?

DollarAndADream
I'm pretty sure there is no permanent fix. Any repair to a YLOD'd PS3 is only temporary, whether it be a few months to over a year. It will come back eventually.. I've had 4 PS3's YLOD on me. I had my original go out twice, and then they sent me a new one. That one went and then I bought a Slim. c00kies
The most 'permanent' fix is reballing (not to be mistaken with reflowing), but it is a hefty task that requires lots of concentration and technology. You're better off buying a new slim.

Gran Turismo
YLOD fixes are only temporary. Get it fixed, back up your files, and buy a new one. It happened to me last year and now my new slim works wonders.
