Why was Cory Schneider never traded?

1. He was the best back up in the league making 900k/year

2. Gillis never received an offer than rocked his world before the deadline.

3. After the playoffs, it was evident that the team will be better served keeping the younger of the two around, especially since Lu agreed to wave his NTC.

Mismanagent would be if we ended up a lesser-than-par goalie. This situation isn't dire.. Both goalies are team-first guys who know the business.

Even if we went into the season with both of them still on the roster, I don't believe it will be a big problem because of the track record and personality of both.

This is the worst argument, and I keep hearing it. It's as if number one goalies just grow on trees or something. You have to be a backup, and then you get a starting chance. He's earned his chance, and unless he has a monumental drop in skill and ability, he will do just fine.

Do you understand how a market works?

Number one, there are only a few teams that might be in search of a new goaltender. Narrowing this list even further is the fact that Luongo has final say in where he ends up.

The ONLY leverage that MG has in this is the fact that, in theory, he can "force" Luongo to suit up, as he's still under contract. Practically, though, that will only work for so long, and you can be SURE that no other team is buying Gillis' front. Luongo has publically asked for a trade, and if he's brought back, that is a recipe for disaster.

Gillis has screwed himself, and he honestly may as well just get what he can for him and move on. It's not going to be a significant return. You're crazy if you think we're going to get a Brayden Schenn-equivalent. Not gonna happen.

He wasn't traded because that would have been stupid. His value has consistently skyrocketed the last couple years. I don't see how that's mismanagement... what is being suggested here, that we should have traded Schneider away back then when his value was way lower and gotten some mediocre player(s)/prospect(s) in return? :picard:
