Computer Problems

Yeah, just swapped in my old card and it games run fine now with no crashing.

By the way, if a graphics card got literally caked in dust would that make it stop working? And if I cleaned it would it work again? Because it seemed like it was overheating as games would run fine at first and slowly things would start to go down hill then, CRASH!

Is it worth cleaning off and putting back in to see?

Yep, most definitely a graphics card issue if you're getting little black lines flashing on your screen. You've obviously figured that out by now.

How new is your system anyways? You mentioned it's completely caked with dust, haha. And definitely, YES, that can cause your card to overheart because the fan on your card isn't able to properly cool your card either because of reduced airflow or it could even be jammed and rotating much more slowly or NOT AT ALL. Clean that crap out, dude.

To be honest you should be cleaning out the dust in your system regularly anyways. A regular vacuum with the thin nozzle attachment for parts that aren't delicate or sensitive, and then you can get those spray cans full of compressed air for the difficult areas and fragile parts.
