It's starting to seem more and more likely that Luongo won't get us as big of a return, and the route that most teams are taking is with young, blue chip talent. We have Kassian, Jensen and maybe Gaunce down the road. Our biggest option, in my opinion, is to get the most by trading schneider to Columbus. Columbus has 3 first round picks, i say we should go after the big one. Salary cap is likely to be 64.3 million.. we need to slash salary.Dorsett is a fireball out there, he plays a game much like Torres imo, but alot more physical with some offensive upside.

Columbus is likely a Lottery Pick, we gotta start thinking about the long term future... post Sedin era.

1st Move;

To Columbus;
Cory Schneider
David Booth
2013 1st Round Pick

To Vancouver;
Derek Dorsett
Columbus 1st Round Pick
3rd Round Pick

2nd Move;

To Dallas;
Keith Ballard

To Vancouver
4th Round pick

Vancouver retains 30% of Salary

Offer Sheet to Phoenix on Mikkel Boedker. Might take a bit more.

If Columbus's first is a top 3 sign me up

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

   ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

I would hope we could get more for Ballard, and I don't like that your 2013/14 version of the Canucks is worse than this one.

Florida got a 5th for Ellerby, who's young with less cap, Kings got a 5th for Loktionov and a conditional 4th for Gagne..

what makes you think that we'll get anything for Ballard? it's a cap dump

If we can't get Boedker, i'd try to get Clowe as a free agent.

Doesn't trading Cory Schneider defeat the purpose of thinking about the long term future.

Not if you're getting a potential top 3 pick.

Your proposing trading our 26 year old affordable elite franchise goalie and a top 6 FW + a 1st round pick for a top 10 pick(top 5 maybe), and garbage. I think we can get way more for Schneider then that. Jason Botchford(The Province) tweeted the other day that Canucks management thinks Schneider is = in value to P Kane/D Keith/Giroux etc.

Botchford and the Canucks management are insane then. There's no chance he's worth that.

Why not? He's basically a young Ryan Miller/Henrik Lundqvist. He's arguably elite at 26 and not even in his prime yet. Shouldn't an elite goalie be worth as much as an elite FW/D?. There is no way to get fair value for Schneider cuz obviously no one will give you that. But I think we can get more than that. The fact that your giving up a top 6 FW in Booth as well makes it even worse for me.

Salary Cap, dude.

Booth is not worth the price tag he brings, and really he's a road block as far as team chemistry. Our situation and need to trade a goalie = lower trade value for the goalie.
